So maybe she'd overstated the severity of the car she was bringing to Ash; it still ran after all. Nic didn't mind, she figured that with her efforts to tone down her aggression and all, she was entitled to be a little over the top in exchange. Swinging Caleb's car around a bend and off of 4th Street, her eyes fixed on the sign ahead advertising Ash's shop. Really, she'd lucked out with the job. How many people had a boss so cool that they could just call and demand this sort of thing? Did she, even? He hadn't called back to say no, which Nic was counting as a plus.
Slowing down and cranking the wheel, Nic grit her teeth as the car lurched a little going up the driveway's incline and into the garage. "Fucking shocks," she muttered, cutting the engine and preemptively popping the hood latch. This was going to take a while, likely her entire weekend, but on the same note? She liked hanging out with Ash, she didn't feel like she was screwing up around him like she did with Caleb, and there was never a bad time to learn more tricks of the mechanic's trade. "Gonna miss my paychecks for a few weeks, though," she muttered to herself, firing a cigarette to life and hopping out.

Who: Joey and Ash

Ash was kind of disappointed, 'cause it was honest-to-god too fucking cold to ride his bike. He'd been hoping to take Joey out for one last spin of the season, and then the skies had opened up and dumped snow all over them. He was lucky the roads were clear at all. Unfortunately, that meant he didn't have transportation -- as he hadn't quite found an old clunker yet to roll around in when the weather was shit -- so when he showed up at Tourville to pick Joey up? It was in a cab. Which he was going to insist on keeping and paying for. It wasn't his style to let a woman drive him around. Rubbing his hands together as he hopped out of the cab, he headed into the building and to her door. He ran a hand over his hair and down the thin line of beard to make sure it was all in order before he knocked. They'd had to delay this dinner a day so he could catch up on some work, but he'd still been looking forward to it.
Joey was thankful that the roads were clear now, and that she could safely leave her apartment. After making sure the coffee shop was taken care of, she returned home, showered and changed for her dinner with Ash, and then fed her dog. She was pulling on her jacket when there came the knock at the door. She didn't know why, but she felt a bit of relief. Maybe a part of her thought he would change his mind and not show up at all. Pulling open the door, she smiled when she saw him, and then grabbed her keys from the small table. "Hey, you're right on time. Ready to go?" She hadn't really been thinking about transportation, but she was pretty sure he wouldn't be on his bike. And she was more than willing to drive if need be.

She had waited a couple days before deciding to go visit Ash. She figured it was probably best that way, since he had been pretty wasted the last time they had run into one another. Still, she sort of worried about him, especially with the ghostly visitors and the current state of, well, the world. Frankly, she just wanted to make sure he was still alive. So after work she got a fresh coffee and just for the hell of it, some cheesecake, before getting into her car and driving to Ash's garage. She was hoping that he was there, and working, and at least she had the excuse of needing snow tires put on her car. If he wasn't, well, she could probably track him down somehow. Pulling up to his shop, she saw that he was at least open. Turning off the engine, she got out of the car, coffee and bag in hand, and headed into the open garage, her eyes searching for him, or maybe at least his legs sticking out from underneath one of the cars.

Ash straightened up from the sloppy shot he'd taken on the pool table, lifting his beer bottle to his lips again. Playing pool with one's self was a depressing exercise all on it's own, and in this particular case, it wasn't helped by the five beers he'd already had. And the fact that Eury was either gone or dead.
He'd gone to her shop earlier that day, wanting to check in on her after all the werewolf bullshit, make sure she was okay. It didn't seem like she was. There'd been a statue, blood, and a mess. He'd moved the statue inside -- with gloves, he was always cautious about where his fingerprints ended up in situations like that -- and sat with it for a long time. He couldn't really piece together what happened, except it was bad, and gave him a sick feeling in his stomach. Eventually he'd just left everything as it was, and walked out.
He knew that he should have a plan. Lock up the shop, board it up, clean shit up, something. Things like this required a plan. But who knew when whoever the fuck had done something to her would be back, and he'd sustained some injuries over the weekend. So ... he went drinking instead. For the night, anyway. Two sheets to the wind and playing pool, he'd just about convinced himself it was time to leave this fucking shithole town to it's own destruction.

He didn't really specialize in werewolves. But Ash tried to be prepared for anything that had such destructive power, and when he caught on to what was happening, he'd loaded down with all the silver he had. He'd killed one big motherfucker in the park and ended up with a gashed back to show for it. But he wasn't bleeding too bad, and there were more of them, running around and wreaking havoc. He wasn't going to just throw his chips in and go home, fuck that.
He gunned his bike as he caught sight of one of them up ahead of him, leaning down and tugging his revolver out from his belt again. He didn't want to waste the silver bullets if he could help it, but if he could get a good shot in ... Two loud cracks later and the big furry monster stumbled and fell. Ash zipped by it's left on two wheels before he brought the bike around hard and gunned it again. The were was struggling to it's feet again as he fired two more shots into it's muzzle. The by-pass this time had him running over it's arm.
Parking the bike and climbing off, the angel watched the hulking form warily, re-tucking the hot metal of the gun and pulling his machete free. Nothing could really live without a head, and he would make sure this one was down for good.

With winter on it's way, Dorian realized he'd need to prepare for snow for the first time in his life. He wasn't so much worried about the house yet, but one day of ice had shown him that getting his car ready would be the first step he needed to take. And he wasn't exactly sure where to start. It was the reason he'd headed up to one of the local garages, figuring there would be someone there that could help him out. The bay doors were shut, so he went inside, where loud music was blasting from within. Rather than yell over it, Dorian stepped into the garage itself, looking for whomever worked there.
Ash was preoccupied with rocking out while he was on his back under a car on risers, so he didn't notice that he had company right away. It wasn't until the rush of cold from the door hit his arm that he looked over and saw a pair of jeaned legs that wasn't there before. "Ho!" he exclaimed, to let whoever know there was life. He pushed himself out from under the car on his rolling board and stood up, snagging the stereo remote from off of the car hood and turning the music down. "Howdy," he greeted the potential customer. "What can I do ya for?"

Who: Eury and Ash
When: dawnish
Where: Stone Eye Antiques
Ash had been driving around for a while on his bike, just trying to get his head straightened out. Or quieted down, or one of those. Finding out that Joey was an Angel of Wrath -- in the middle of getting her undressed, no less -- was really fucking with his mind more than he would've expected. It brought to the forefront all kinds of memories that he'd buried a long time ago. Or tried to. Made him feel alienated from someone he'd thought he had some kind of connection with. Even if it was mostly surface and sexual, so far. It just went to show that not even that was simple. He'd ridden up to Sugarloaf to sit for a while and watched the sun start to come up, then headed back to town. His wandering took him to Eury's shop. He hadn't checked on it in a few days, and hadn't heard from her in even longer, so he didn't know if she was back or what. The doors were still locked, windows intact, all that. He happened to glance up and saw there was a light on in her window. Was she home? Hoping so, he pushed the buzzer at the door and stepped back to wait.
Eury had been up, sort of staring into space more or less. Then she was roused by the buzzer. Standing, she went to peek down on the street, but didn't see much, so she walked down instead. She smiled a touch when she saw who it was, and she opened up the door. "Ash--" she started, immediately throwing her arms around his neck, to give him a big hug. And it was a bit of a clingy one at that, even if she didn't mean for it to be. "It's so good to see you."

The masquerade party at Babylon had been everything Joey had hoped it would be. She had been able to have a couple of drinks, dance with Ash - and a few others - and meet new people around town that she was pretty sure she might not have been able to otherwise. Her costume had gone over well, mostly with the men, and beyond that, she had met The Mourning Star in an official capacity. Or rather, unofficially as Star seemed to simply be there for fun, which had been a huge relief for Joey.
When the time came for she and Ash to depart Babylon, Joey spent the entire ride back to her apartment deciding whether or not to invite him into her apartment. In truth, there wasn't much debate. She had been having a good time with him and wasn't quite ready to say goodnight yet. And it seemed neither was Ash, as he'd accepted her invitation. Once inside she turned on a couple of lamps, attended to her dog, Ambrosious, and then reached up to pull her devil horns off the top of her head while smiling at Ash. "Would you like a drink? Or do you think you've got your fill for the evening?"

But it wasn't blasting today, seeing as how Sasha was there, and sometimes they actually had to verbally communicate. The angel wasn't in the best of moods today, and he couldn't really pin down why. The teasing promise of seeing Eury again, the guy-requisite period of time before he darkened Joey's doorstep again, the lack of snow so far, the engine in front of him, something else entirely, he didn't know. He just wanted to beat something senseless with the wrench in his hand. Instead he tossed it down to the concrete and turned to head for the oil-fingerprinted mini-fridge to dig another coke out.

Eury was standing in an old town square, which wasn't really the town square any longer, considering it had sprawled out and it's epicenter was farther to the east now, but what had been about a century in some change since it was the middle of town. There were three statues in it. A maiden, mother and crone. Tears streaked from their eyes, and she kept gazing at them with a disquiet feeling. It was a horribly gloomy day, but Joey supposed she would need to get used to that, living in Marquette this late in the year. Business had been steady since she opened that morning, which had pleased her incredibly. She had exactly three employees, however, so she was hoping that she could lure a few more in with the promise of free coffee and muffins. Benefits and perks went a long way, didn't they?
It was around five when she finally decided to take a break. And while she had paperwork she could be doing, she much preferred to get out of the cafe for an hour or so and take a real break. Her eyes had landed on the business card Ash had given her a few days back, and given that she hadn't seen him come by yet, she decided to go him. And she had the perfect excuse for the random drop in. Joey placed a slice of cheesecake into a take out box and got to putting together his mocha.

The kid had the shop running, so he'd decided to go for a wander in the fresh air. He'd donned his worn leather jacket and sunglasses, and headed toward the lake. Idly, he wondered if this temperature drop was going to have an effect on all the shit that had been going on. If colder climes would attract more bullshit. He stood and looked out at the lake, flicking the ash from his cigarette to one side.

When he started feeling the edges of short circuit, saying his goodbyes to Jennifer, one of the cooks from the diner, he started moving to the phone.
At least he had Ash's phone number.

The shadows were gone. He hadn't seen a single one all day, and while that should probably have been a relief, the ... abruptness of it had left Ash feeling kind of thrown off. Like some switch had been flipped. And unless he was the one doing the flipping, he was generally uncomfortable with that kind of thing. It left too many questions unanswered. That and the goddamn things didn't leave any bodies, which had been bothering him for days. He was a physical kind of person, he liked solid evidence of things. Blood and guts and something to drop in the middle of the woods where no one would find it. Not just that wispy shadow bullshit.
In any case, it had made him restless. He now was left with nothing to do, and his blood was still up. He'd slept some, showered, made sure the shop hadn't been totally destroyed, and then headed back out. The rain had stopped for the time being, and the sun had gone down, and he wasn't even really sure what part of town he was in anymore. He was just walking, in between houses, hands stuffed into his jacket pockets. So many of them seemed empty. In that abrupt way.

Where: Lakeshore
When: Early afternoon
The shop had been slow that morning... which didn't surprise Jovie, considering she was still trying to clean it up from the goddamn Acherus attacks. She had managed to sell a few pieces, using the "gang-related incidents" as a sympathetic tool. People felt bad for those suffering, and my, my, wasn't Jovie, a lovely girl, suffering with her beautiful shop damaged and torn apart? But the poor thing needed to make a living, so she was braving the business day and hoping for her luck to turn... People bought that shit right up, along with her jewelry. At lunch, she closed the shop to wander down the street to the lakeshore where people were selling different forms of art. If that's what one could call it. She walked through the maze of booths and people, mentally listening to people get scammed over what was an original and what wasn't, what was one of a kind and what seller had three more replicas hiding under the table. She smirked as she listened to the masses, most of them annoyingly enjoying the day. She checked out the jewelry, wondering if any would catch her eye. In Marquette, you never knew what you might be buying - she could attest to that. At any given moment, those ruby red earrings you just had to have could cause temporary - sometimes permanent - deafness once you put them on. Jovie could attest to that as well, given she'd sold a pair just three hours ago...
So what's that like?

Who: Brian and Ash
Where: Babylon
When: Early evening
All it had taken was a quick phone call, a suggestion of place, and a counter-suggestion of time, and Brian was on his way to Babylon. On foot, seeing as Marlowe still had his car, but that was just fine. He had his cane, he had his cat to kick at now and then if he was feeling annoyed with him-- not that he ever hit; Torziel seemed to think it a fun game to dodge the randomly-timed feet aimed at his paws, and was dancing around them with a very entertained expression-- and Babylon would probably obligingly show up right as he was getting to be in too much pain to continue on. It had an annoying habit of doing that. Too bad it didn't show up when he wanted it to show up. Say, immediately.
The fact that Ash knew about and agreed upon doing their drinking at Babylon said interesting things about Ash, honestly, but all Brian figured it meant was he didn't have to be quite so careful about what he said or did. Maybe. The fact that this might well be the last night Babylon would be Olivia-free for a while meant Brian had really kinda wanted to go there, so he was willing to bring up a place the other party might never have heard of. Hell, he was willing to bring the man there, if he had to.
Apparently he didn't have to.

who: star and ash
where: the beach
when: early afternoon
The Mourning Star was out. She'd left the Martens' residence, and taken Voltaire with her as she'd intended, bringing the corgi puppy out for a walk. Currently, she happened to be walking him along the damp beach, the day cloudy enough that she didn't need an umbrella to hide herself from the sunshine. Instead she was in a long black sun dress, that the wind caught nicely. Her hair was pulled back from her face, letting the inverted cross earrings she wore (and the sand teardrop Doc had given her) stand out more. She occasionally paused to throw a stick up the beach for the dog, who would chase after it, though he often lost the thing, and she just had to pick it back up again herself and throw it to send him off in a flurry of barking and wave chasing.
Ash was out, though his head wanted him to go the fuck home. He'd had a restless nap since his ... guest had left that morning, but didn't feel any better for it. After a while, he just hadn't been able to stay in the apartment any longer. Not with that smell. So he'd locked the doors, settled some sunglasses in place despite the overcast day, and headed out for a meandering sort of walk. He'd ended up at the beach, sitting in the sand with his knees up and watching the water. And smoking. That was, at least, until a four-legged bundle of noise and energy raced up and launched itself into his lap, all tongue and excited butt-wagging. The angel made a noise of distress that kind of melted into a surprised laugh as his face got attacked by licks, trying to fend the puppy off and not burn him at the same time. "Whoa there, son, calm thyself," he chuckled.

It wasn't until Ash was positive that the vampires had moved on that he went to see Eury. He'd called her a couple of times, just to check in, but hadn't gone over there for various reasons. She was potentially distracting, for one. No punches needed to be pulled with those bastards, and he needed his full mind in the right place. Plus, if they got him? Possibly less pain for her. But once he was sure the threat had passed, he wanted to see her. So it was late morning when he dragged his carcass out of bed, checked his bandages, and took the walk down to her shop. He flicked a cigarette away as he arrived and exhaled, trying the door. They'd broken out her windows, motherfuckers.
Eury was up early as well, mostly trying to get an estimate for her windows, and making sure nothing had been taken from her shop. Though really, it seemed to have been overlooked somewhat due to the fact that vampires really couldn't use old tea sets and or brass spoons. When she saw a shadow on the other side of the glass doors, through the small entryway, she at first felt a flash of anxiety--which was quickly replaced when she saw that it was Ash. Dropping her clip board down onto the nearest shelf, she ran over and opened up the door directly to her shop, then flipped the lock on the door to the street. She yanked it open, then grabbed one of his arms to pull him into a tight hug.

Ash? Was in a good mood. He had an employee. He'd hung out with Eury a few times ... not as much as he would've liked, but work had her busy, so that was okay. And there were opponents on the way. All the evidence was there, and he had no doubt that they would be arriving any night now. Sure, that was concerning for the average citizen of Marquette, but he certainly wasn't that. His other work had been too quiet lately, and the restless feeling he'd been carrying around would soon have an outlet. But first ... He flicked his cigarette butt away as he approached the door to the tattoo parlor. He'd left Sasha in charge of the shop for now, since it didn't seem to be a busy day at all, and gone to seek out a place to have some touch-up work done. He hadn't been in here yet, it was worth checking out.
Liadán? Was in a bad mood. And had been for... fuck, weeks now. She'd found that kid and he was so fucked up, and then he disappeared on her. And she found out he wouldn't be coming by anytime soon, though maybe someday. She'd done everything sort of casing the schools to try and find him. Fortunately enough, she'd had to go to Detroit for a week, and it had presented her an opportunity to take out a lot of her aggression. She returned to work... well, not exactly chipper and healthy, but as good and professional as she was ever going to be, particularly in this shit town.
