Ash was kind of disappointed, 'cause it was honest-to-god too fucking cold to ride his bike. He'd been hoping to take Joey out for one last spin of the season, and then the skies had opened up and dumped snow all over them. He was lucky the roads were clear at all. Unfortunately, that meant he didn't have transportation -- as he hadn't quite found an old clunker yet to roll around in when the weather was shit -- so when he showed up at Tourville to pick Joey up? It was in a cab. Which he was going to insist on keeping and paying for. It wasn't his style to let a woman drive him around. Rubbing his hands together as he hopped out of the cab, he headed into the building and to her door. He ran a hand over his hair and down the thin line of beard to make sure it was all in order before he knocked. They'd had to delay this dinner a day so he could catch up on some work, but he'd still been looking forward to it.

Joey was thankful that the roads were clear now, and that she could safely leave her apartment. After making sure the coffee shop was taken care of, she returned home, showered and changed for her dinner with Ash, and then fed her dog. She was pulling on her jacket when there came the knock at the door. She didn't know why, but she felt a bit of relief. Maybe a part of her thought he would change his mind and not show up at all. Pulling open the door, she smiled when she saw him, and then grabbed her keys from the small table. "Hey, you're right on time. Ready to go?" She hadn't really been thinking about transportation, but she was pretty sure he wouldn't be on his bike. And she was more than willing to drive if need be.

How have you Really been?

She had waited a couple days before deciding to go visit Ash. She figured it was probably best that way, since he had been pretty wasted the last time they had run into one another. Still, she sort of worried about him, especially with the ghostly visitors and the current state of, well, the world. Frankly, she just wanted to make sure he was still alive. So after work she got a fresh coffee and just for the hell of it, some cheesecake, before getting into her car and driving to Ash's garage. She was hoping that he was there, and working, and at least she had the excuse of needing snow tires put on her car. If he wasn't, well, she could probably track him down somehow. Pulling up to his shop, she saw that he was at least open. Turning off the engine, she got out of the car, coffee and bag in hand, and headed into the open garage, her eyes searching for him, or maybe at least his legs sticking out from underneath one of the cars.

Gone Again

Ash straightened up from the sloppy shot he'd taken on the pool table, lifting his beer bottle to his lips again. Playing pool with one's self was a depressing exercise all on it's own, and in this particular case, it wasn't helped by the five beers he'd already had. And the fact that Eury was either gone or dead.

He'd gone to her shop earlier that day, wanting to check in on her after all the werewolf bullshit, make sure she was okay. It didn't seem like she was. There'd been a statue, blood, and a mess. He'd moved the statue inside -- with gloves, he was always cautious about where his fingerprints ended up in situations like that -- and sat with it for a long time. He couldn't really piece together what happened, except it was bad, and gave him a sick feeling in his stomach. Eventually he'd just left everything as it was, and walked out.

He knew that he should have a plan. Lock up the shop, board it up, clean shit up, something. Things like this required a plan. But who knew when whoever the fuck had done something to her would be back, and he'd sustained some injuries over the weekend. So ... he went drinking instead. For the night, anyway. Two sheets to the wind and playing pool, he'd just about convinced himself it was time to leave this fucking shithole town to it's own destruction.

Revealing Interruption

The masquerade party at Babylon had been everything Joey had hoped it would be. She had been able to have a couple of drinks, dance with Ash - and a few others - and meet new people around town that she was pretty sure she might not have been able to otherwise. Her costume had gone over well, mostly with the men, and beyond that, she had met The Mourning Star in an official capacity. Or rather, unofficially as Star seemed to simply be there for fun, which had been a huge relief for Joey.

When the time came for she and Ash to depart Babylon, Joey spent the entire ride back to her apartment deciding whether or not to invite him into her apartment. In truth, there wasn't much debate. She had been having a good time with him and wasn't quite ready to say goodnight yet. And it seemed neither was Ash, as he'd accepted her invitation. Once inside she turned on a couple of lamps, attended to her dog, Ambrosious, and then reached up to pull her devil horns off the top of her head while smiling at Ash. "Would you like a drink? Or do you think you've got your fill for the evening?"

It was a horribly gloomy day, but Joey supposed she would need to get used to that, living in Marquette this late in the year. Business had been steady since she opened that morning, which had pleased her incredibly. She had exactly three employees, however, so she was hoping that she could lure a few more in with the promise of free coffee and muffins. Benefits and perks went a long way, didn't they?

It was around five when she finally decided to take a break. And while she had paperwork she could be doing, she much preferred to get out of the cafe for an hour or so and take a real break. Her eyes had landed on the business card Ash had given her a few days back, and given that she hadn't seen him come by yet, she decided to go him. And she had the perfect excuse for the random drop in. Joey placed a slice of cheesecake into a take out box and got to putting together his mocha.

Weather Change

So the weather had finally broken. While this rapid change had kind of fucked with his sinuses, Ash was grateful for it. He'd always liked the cold, for some reason. Possibly because one could hide more weapons under more clothes. Or maybe the briskness just made him feel less sluggish, more with it. In any case, he didn't mind it at all.

The kid had the shop running, so he'd decided to go for a wander in the fresh air. He'd donned his worn leather jacket and sunglasses, and headed toward the lake. Idly, he wondered if this temperature drop was going to have an effect on all the shit that had been going on. If colder climes would attract more bullshit. He stood and looked out at the lake, flicking the ash from his cigarette to one side.
