Dorian had spent most of the day working on Dean's question, and doing his best to dig up information about fades. The long and short of it was that there was barely any information at all out there. This didn't surprise Dorian though. It was taboo magic, the type that one could be tried under regular laws for. Murder was murder, no matter what the end result was.

Dorian - guiding light

Who: Dean and Dorian
Where: Nevermore
When: Morning

Dean had headed into town alone. With the unseasonably good weather, Thia was staying in - the sun always made her feel ill. Plus there was the whole 'the town thinks I'm dead' of it - which still held true, even if a handful of teenagers now knew it wasn't. Dean still didn't know what to do about that. It would just be a case of seeing what tomorrow held, how people were reacting.

Who: Dorian and Mathias
Where: Nevermore
When: Morning

While Dorian didn't exactly put in enough hours at Nevermore to consider what he was doing as 'work', he did make a daily appearance and check to make sure everything was in working order. The whole book-renting thing was working out really well, since more people could afford to rent the books than buy them. People were desperate for information and he didn't blame them. He would be too, if he hadn't been brought up to believe in all the crazy shit that was out there. Even then, his beliefs didn't cover ghosts suddenly wandering the world. It was the one question commonly asked that he still didn't have a good solid answer for, but life went on, and he'd never had all the answers to begin with.

Who: Kyle and Dorian
When: Late afternoon
Where: Nevermore

After an afternoon of searching for ghosts, Kyle had come to the conclusion that he was probably never going to see one. Nothing concrete and indisputable anyway. He didn't know what else he could do to fix it, or if anything even needed fixing. Still, he had questions, as he was sure a lot of people did. But not all of his questions centered around the existence of ghosts. Gabe was still lingering in the back of his mind, and before Kyle concluded that his best friend was being driven mad by rabies or something, he figured it wouldn't hurt to get some information first. He felt stupid the minute he took off for Nevermore. The store had always been bunk in his mind - another New Age-y shop that sold incense and books that would teach desperate teenage girls love spells or some shit. Still, if it was a supernatural book store, Kyle figured they would have stuff on werewolves. It would be even better if he found someone who worked there who could just answer him rather than making him read something.

Aiden had planned on calling Dorian the night before, but had been caught up in watching the news and spending time with Shannon, so instead, he finally dragged himself out of bed that afternoon, showered and changed and then got into his car to track the guy down. He had intended on going to Nevermore, figuring that's where Dorian would be with all the shit happening around town, but as he drove by Dorian's house, he noted his friend's car parked outside. Hoping that he wasn't busy, or had company, Aiden parked along the curb across the street and got out of the car. He was knocking moments later and readjusting the hat on his head as he waited for Dorian, hopefully, to answer.

Who: Dorian and Joey
When: Morning

With Ransom comfortably behind the counter, and the shop quiet, Joey didn't feel so guilty making two fresh cups of coffee and heading out of the cafe down to Nevermore. He was an intelligent kid, and responsible, so she knew she could trust him alone for a few moments so she could drop in on Dorian. She imagined his shop was probably busy, what with the ghosts not disappearing after Halloween. People were intrigued and frightened, and the supernatural bookstore she was sure most of them shunned when things were normal seemed to be the logical place to look for answers. With the chilly weather nipping at her ears and nose, Joey held the tiny cup holder in one hand and opened the door to step inside. She was greeted by warmth which allowed her to breathe again, and walking over to the counter, she set the coffees down and tugged off her gloves. "Did somebody order coffee?"

Who: Dorian and Jules
When: Morning
Where: Nevermore

It was no secret that she wasn't looking forward to heading into Nevermore. She felt somewhat bad for venturing in to ask Dorian for a favor when they hadn't gotten on very well the first time they met, but Aiden and Eris had both suggested him. She wasn't about to just sit around not knowing anything about the air elemental things she would be dealing with. So she sucked it up and headed over to the shop to see Dorian. It was pretty empty when she entered the building and she looked around at the books that surrounded her, pushing her hair back behind her ear and heading towards the counter to look for Dorian. She wondered if he'd even be there this morning, if not, she'd just have to come back later, but she was hoping.

Dorian was there, even if it was Saturday morning. He'd been in a good mood all week, part of which he attributed to Halloween and the rest to how well Nevermore was doing. Those that didn't think the world was ending came for real answers. Even if he didn't have them, he did the best he could, all the while looking for something better to tell them. He moved towards the front when the bell rang on the door, surprised when he saw who it was. "Jules," he said, brows raising. "Hi, um, what can I help you with?" He figured she was there for something other than to see him; their last meeting hadn't exactly been the sort to send her running back.

Who: Dorian and OPEN

For the first time since Nevermore opened, the shop seemed constantly occupied by at least one customer all day. The books on ghosts and spirits were selling like crazy, which almost made him laugh-- he'd always felt like they were the least informative of any of the books in the store. As they were mass produced, he could always get more, unlike some of his rare finds on other subjects. The customers weren't interested in other subjects, though; just ghosts. Some didn't necessarily want books, but they'd been sent there on a search for answers. Unfortunately, Dorian didn't always have the answers they wanted, but he continued to try, since knowing something was always better than nothing.

By the time Dorian was leaving to pick up Joey, he was starting to notice that the little tricks of light that had been happening all day were beginning to make a more concrete appearance. All day he'd think there was something there, just out of the corner of his eye, but as soon as he turned, it was gone. He'd been able to pass it off as an overactive imagination brought out by the holiday, but now he was positive it was more than that. It gave him goosebumps each time, shocked since he'd never possessed an ability to see beyond the norm. As he knocked on Joey's door, he wondered if she'd seen anything herself, or if she'd think he was crazy for mentioning it.

Olivia took Mathias's advice to seek out Dorian for more information on the Dreaming. She felt a bit anxious asking for help from one of Mathias's brothers, but he seemed pretty confident that Dorian could help her. So she walked through the chilly weather to Nevermore after she was sure the store would be open, and hoped that he would indeed be working that morning. The last thing she wanted to do was head toward Dorian's house and knock. It just felt... strange. She felt comfortable talking to Mathias about these things, but this was something, and someone, different.

Stepping inside the store, she shivered a bit as her body began to warm up before starting to walk toward the counter, her gaze seeking out any sign of life. "Hello?"

Who: Someone familiar?
Where: Marquette General Hospital
When: Evening

After the chaos of the night before, everyone was on their guard, believing they would recognize danger when they saw it coming. The hospital staff had been notified to be on the lookout for large, dangerous animals, and to call for help immediately if spotted. A tall man in a doctor's white lab coat seemed to pose no threat. They needed all the help they could get, and if Ishpeming had sent a few extra hands, they weren't opposed. When he passed the nurses, he flashed them a shy smile before going on his way. Later, they would recount that he was tall, with blond hair and brown eyes, hidden behind wire-rimmed glasses.

Plus, he had the feeling being bitten would hurt like a bitch.

Who: Dorian and Joey
When: Around sunset
Where: Joey's Cafe

With the news of recent animal attacks, the cafe had been much slower than usual after nightfall. Joey was well aware of what was out there, and out of concern for her employees, she sent most of the home around dusk and locked up on her own. She was absolutely sure she could take care of herself, and if she were faced with a dire situation, well... that's what her wings were for. Werewolves, thankfully, couldn't fly. Generally on Friday's she had a couple staff members throughout the day until closing time, but Joey slimmed down the schedule to include only she and Patty up until seven. If things were still slow, she would send Patty home and probably lock up early. The way the vacant cafe looked now? Joey was pretty sure it would be a very slow, short day.

At the moment, she sat near the iron fireplace toward the back of the cafe with a cup of coffee and the employee schedule, tapping the pencil absently against the table as she tried to focus on the task at hand rather than the fact that Marquette had a werewolf on the loose. And given it was a full moon, there would no doubt be more shifters wandering about later. It was disconcerting, and she couldn't help but wonder how many people would get hurt before sunrise.

Aiden was in need of a drink. And instead of heading off to a bar solo, he parked in front of Dorian's house and left the car running long enough to get up to the door and knock loudly. It was one of the perks of having his friend back in town, because generally when Aiden needed a drink, Dorian did too, and vice versa. And since Aiden was going to be leaving Marquette soon to start tracking Eury's uncle, he figured he needed to get in as many drinks with the guy as he could, since he wasn't sure how long he would be gone.

Who: Dorian and Ash

With winter on it's way, Dorian realized he'd need to prepare for snow for the first time in his life. He wasn't so much worried about the house yet, but one day of ice had shown him that getting his car ready would be the first step he needed to take. And he wasn't exactly sure where to start. It was the reason he'd headed up to one of the local garages, figuring there would be someone there that could help him out. The bay doors were shut, so he went inside, where loud music was blasting from within. Rather than yell over it, Dorian stepped into the garage itself, looking for whomever worked there.

Ash was preoccupied with rocking out while he was on his back under a car on risers, so he didn't notice that he had company right away. It wasn't until the rush of cold from the door hit his arm that he looked over and saw a pair of jeaned legs that wasn't there before. "Ho!" he exclaimed, to let whoever know there was life. He pushed himself out from under the car on his rolling board and stood up, snagging the stereo remote from off of the car hood and turning the music down. "Howdy," he greeted the potential customer. "What can I do ya for?"

You Never Know What's Out There

Who: Dorian and Jules
Where: The streets of Marquette
When: 1am

After four days of forcing himself to the book faire, Dorian found himself restless with nothing thrilling to occupy his time. Talking to Rose had given him reason to hope the bad would stay away from Marquette for awhile, though if he could assure she was safe, he would have enjoyed a bit of chaos for himself. He didn't expect to find it wandering around at night, but a walk in the cold was good for him, sunglasses in place despite the darkness. It was an attempt not to draw too much attention to himself, though he found that it still raised the question of why from those he ran into. After years of dealing with it, he figured he could manage.

Jules couldn't sleep. She'd tossed and turned for a while, unable to find a comfortable position before finally giving up and getting out of bed. There was no point lying there and thinking when she could get out and clear her head. So that's what she did. She pulled on a sweater and her black jacket, leaving her hair down and pulling a hat on. Black jeans and her boots and she was ready to get out of the house. She didn't care if it was cold, she didn't care if it was late. She headed off down her street, turning the corner and walking for quite some time. At first she didn't notice the man walking in her direction, not until he was barely a few yards in front of her. She'd been too busy listening to the sound of her own footsteps falling. Then she realized it wasn't just her footsteps and that made her nervous, eyes ticking upwards towards the sound as she stopped walking. Sunglasses at night? Odd. She wasn't sure whether she should keep walking or turn around and make a break for it. In this town you never knew what you might meet. She was too afraid to do either, so she just stood there in the middle of the sidewalk.

Twenty Questions, Give or Take

Who: Dorian and Rose
Where: NMU Book Faire
When: Noon

It was the last day of the book faire and even if Rose really didn't see it as a huge priority now, she knew she'd beat herself up about not going later. So she dressed up warm to try to stave off the cold or flu that was still bothering her and headed out to the main building. She needed a couple of books for literature and they were easy to find. She then picked up a book by Neil Gaiman she hadn't read before and planned on heading straight out again once she paid. The plan kind of fell through as she spotted Dorian on her way back out, instantly recognizing Caleb's brother from that night in Ohio where they'd come to meet her. It made sense for him to be there, he owned that bookstore she remembered now so it shouldn't surprise her. So she wandered over to the Nevermore table and gave him a little wave once she was there. "Hi," she said, lips twitcing into a small smile. "We met last week... I'm Rose." There was an unspoken question in there as she didn't want to just assume he remembered her.

Dorian looked up and smiled. Of course he remembered her. They might not have spent all that much time together, but it wasn't all that long ago and she'd meant quite a bit to Caleb. Or it seemed that way to Dorian, at least. "Hey Rose, how's it going?" he asked, piling the books back into a box. He'd been out there an hour and that was about all he could take. Dorian was far too impatient to stay after lunch, figuring that if they'd missed his table the past three days, it was their own fault. "Liking Marquette so far?"

Who: Dorian and Zed

Dorian generally wasn't one to go out of his way to promote his shop, but sitting at the book faire gave him time to think on heavier issues that he needed to address. He wanted to get his 'rules' written down, but he didn't want to spend days sitting around the house in order to do so. A change of scenery was welcome, even if it meant he had to answer questions from time to time. Talking to interested buyers had never been the issue when it came to his shop. In fact, he enjoyed seeing what peaked everyone else's interest. Nevermore's table was covered with the books Dorian was willing to part with, not one of from the back half of the store. These were books with less specifics, books in mass production that still followed the theme of Nevermore. If someone was really looking to dig into the supernatural, they needed to visit the store itself and look through the books that weren't up for sale or trade.

Who: Dorian and Eury

After talking to Aiden, Dorian was curious to see how Eury was doing. He hadn't called cause he wasn't entirely sure what to say, but dropping by seemed like an easier option. Besides, he wanted to stop by Nevermore and make sure everything was going okay, and was pleased to note that it was. That made things so much easier. The whole 'not working' thing was right up his alley. Pushing the door open to Eury's shop, he noted the familiar scent of the store, the layout the same even if the artifacts had changed. Quietly he made his way to the back of the store, wondering just where Eury was. So often she would be in the back, or seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

Eury was in fact, in back. She was mostly still going through a lot of things that had come in and just sat while she'd been away, and that was a fairly big project. It was even larger when she had absolutely nothing in the way of concentration. So...that totally didnt' help. But, she looked up when the bell rang above the door, and she waited, smiling when she saw Dorian appear. "Dorian!" she said, hopping up from where she'd been sat on the floor. "God...I didn't expect to see you--" she started, going over to give him a hug. Sure, she was aware things had been Weird before, but it had been a long time, and weird didn't mean she didn't care.

After putting some thought into it, Dorian decided there was a better way to run his shop. Hunting down the books he supplied was hard to begin with, and finding multiple copies was sometimes near impossible. It meant he had to price them higher than most would pay, which meant he needed to stock things that people would pay for. Rather than selling fiction at Nevermore, he was busy rearranging the shop, moving all the rare books to the back, leaving the front section for various magic supplies and sundries, along with the books that were easy to restock. The back of the shop, he decided, could function a bit more like a library, where a table was set in the middle for anyone doing research.

This functioned in a variety of ways, partially allowing him to know who was into what, but it also saved him the work of hunting down books that were near impossible to replace. Rearranging the shop didn't bother him all that much, especially since it was his first time to step foot in it in over a month. In addition to the new setup, he placed a sign in the front window - Help Wanted.

Joey spent the morning keeping herself busy by tidying up her apartment, washing some laundry and filling her fridge with groceries before she showered, changed and went into work. While she was fairly certain she wouldn't be seeing Ash again - but for a random run in around the small town - Joey was determined not to let it bother her. It wasn't the first time a connection had been severed by the revelation of her calling, and it wouldn't be the last. It was just... disappointing, as it always was. But these things happened and all she could do was accept it and move on.

After about an hour, Joey returned to the front of the cafe and allowed Patty to go home. The cafe was quiet and she was sure she could handle any business on her own until closing at six. She made herself a fresh cup of coffee and grabbed the newspaper to read at the counter, absorbing the local news as a way to distract herself from other things.
