Who: Porter and Jesse
When: lunchtime
Where: MSHS
Another day, another dollar, another notch in the belt of life -- or was it a bedpost? 'Cause in the end, everybody got screwed -- another block of time wasted not-learning things that they'd never use. Jesse wasn't in the best of moods, but he was dealing. Another night of the 'geist, this one louder and worse. He'd gone into his parents' bedroom after a while, and found his mom crying and their bathroom worse than a meat-locker, and didn't like that. No, not one bit. Knowing what was up with something did not make it more fun to deal with. They'd all ended up camping out in the living room, and it had stopped eventually. But not before one of his Dylan posters had been fuckered.
He was taking lunch in the hallway yet again, only half-heartedly out of the way as he hunched over some tarot cards laid out in front of him. Advice, he was looking for guidance from the cosmos. They were being stubbornly silent, and his agitation showed in the speed at which the drumstick in his left hand was beating on the bottom of his sneaker. "Fuckin' empress, eat my cornhole," he muttered as he flipped another card down from the deck in his lap.

Where: School hallway

Tad wasn't sure how exactly to approach someone in the way he was having to approach Jesse, so he'd just opted for loitering in the general area he'd figured out Jesse's locker was in. Thankfully the swelling from his Friday afternoon beating had gone down completely and the remaining bruises were mostly the standard yellow and purpling under his eye and lip. It wasn't the worst he'd looked with bruises, but it probably wasn't his best either. At least he didn't look grotesque enough to scare the guy off right?
He was half pacing along the lockers, avoiding people who came to use their lockers, trying to keep his head down long enough to make it through this conversation before getting crammed into something and trying to keep an eye out for Jesse coming down the hall.

Jesse had an interest in Chemistry that could fill a teaspoon, and instead of his usual dozing-state, he'd found a much more creative way to fill his time. He'd pulled page after page of notebook paper out and made signs with the set of colored sharpies he always carried with him. He'd been inspired by something he'd watched on the news that morning as he munched on cereal, and decided that today was as good a day as any to start a movement.
When the bell rang he had a good handful, and set out on his mission. Tape in his other hand, he started slapping the homemade posters up all down the hallway. SUPPORT GHOST RIGHTS!!! Call your congressman! Equality for all!! Ghosts for President! WE MAY TAKE THEIR LIVES, BUT WE'LL NEVER TAKE THEIR FREEDOM!!! Ghosts bless the USA!! they declared in big colorful lettering, among other things that had just come to him. He slapped them up haphazardly, over drinking fountains and on people's lockers, already dreaming about forming a picket line outside.

Who: Lauren and Jesse
When: lunch
Where: school
So it had already been an interesting morning. He'd gotten assaulted, yelled at about the end being nigh, snowed on, rescued by Nic, and had a pop quiz in Latin. It had kept Jesse on his toes, at least, and that was ... what that was. He might sleep well that night, at least, and that was always something to be grateful for, the rare occasions that it happened. Lunch came, and he wasn't hungry, so he dodged around the rush of students toward the cafeteria, in favor of just having a good wander. He settled his headphones over his ears and hit shuffle. It was Zeppelin first, that was possibly a good omen. Humming low to himself, Jesse pushed his glasses up on his nose and rounded a corner in the hallway. Ahh, solitude.
Lauren had come into school late, sort of having difficulty with things considering she wasn't exactly used to having a schedule. It wasn't like she slept, or had an alarm clock to wake her up, or anything of the sort, so, it was just a weeee bit late when she finally managed to stroll into school. Plus, it sucked outside, and while the snow and cold didn't bother her in the slightest, that did nothing for pure visibility problems. When you couldn't see the other side of a narrow street due purely to that much snow blowing in the damn air, it made for a tough time navigating.

Jesse couldn't remember the dude's name, but he knew that he'd given him hell the year before last in school. He'd been a sophomore, and Crazy Shithead Dude had been a senior. Apparently college hadn't worked out, so he'd taken the first opportunity to turn insane. Jesse hadn't seen him coming as he trudged his way to school through the snow, headphones firmly in place. He would've gotten a ride, but his mom had a treatment that morning, so he volunteered to walk. It was easy for him to block everything out. But Dude certainly had his attention when his 'phones had been snatched off of his head. In the few moments since then, there'd been nonsensical shouted words about the end of the world and the ghosts being one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse or some shit. It was hard to listen when you were pinned up against the side of a building.
"You really need to brush your teeth more, man," Jesse said as the crazy bastard got in all close again. He had his eyes squeezed shut, his glasses had gotten knocked off at some point, and he could only hope that neither of them had stepped on them.

One Pen For Me, None for You
Submitted by happygolucky on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 20:44.Who: Jessalyn and Jesse
When: Morning before first period
Where: Halls of MSHS
Jessalyn felt like things were... well, not great. The full moon had been tough - although she felt kind of proud that she and Ransom had been able to help the were-coyote - and then dealing with more classmates dying on top of that hadn't been anything Jessalyn had wanted to deal with. It wasn't even winter yet and there were already... seven dead? Paranoia was going to be an all time high for a very long time following last week. Sadly, it was beginning to seem like an almost regular occurrence whenever something bad happened that there would be casualties. Even Jessalyn was finding it hard to remain optimistic in this depressed environment, though she was at least still trying.
She walked through the halls before first period, her fingers wrapped around both straps of her book bag as her eyes sought out a friendly face. Preferably Ransom, but she hadn't seen him yet that morning. On her way to class, her gaze dropped down to a rather pretty pen sticking out of some girl's purse. The purse was hanging on her elbow as she riffled through her locker, oblivious to the people passing. Without stopping, and with careful ease, Jessalyn reached out and slipped the pen from the girl's purse, lifting it to her face to examine it more closely. It was a gel pen... sparkly and pink. Definitely something she wanted to keep. Glancing back over her shoulder, Jessalyn watched the girl shut her locker and head off in the other direction, causing Jessalyn to smile. It wasn't even first period and she already had a brand new pen. Little pleasures, sure, but she at this point she would take anything.
And then I got high...

Who: Bruce and Jesse
When: after school
Where: the sidewalk and Mya's
Jesse had heard about the supposed fight going down -- and then not going down -- at the flagpole, and hadn't thought much about it. He sure as hell didn't go to watch. Aaron Lancaster was not his best friend in the least, and if Bruce's sister wanted to beat the shit out of him, Jesse figured she probably had her reasons. So he'd just put his headphones back on and went about his day. At least until the last bell rang, and he found himself looking for the blonde-headed all-American cutie. Bruce, that was, not his twin. He wasn't exactly sure why, outside of his own desire for company of the Bruce Barrow variety, but it didn't really bear much thinking about. He hung out around the front door as all the jostling teenagers streamed past, headphones over his ears, eyes scanning the crowd while his mind did more or less the same thing.
Bruce was going over what homework he had to do that night in his head, and what could be put off until the next day or the weekend. He was also thanking his ancestors that his parents hadn't been notified about his little fight that morning. Hitting Aaron had felt great in the moment, sure, but the consequences were what he hated. He felt like he'd been doing so much better on the bully front since moving to Michigan, too. Now though? He was second guessing himself. That couldn't really be a part of who he was, he tried to convince himself. Yeah, so he got mad about certain things pretty easily and couldn't stand his family's name being dragged through the mud, but he had to learn some self control. Avoidance was going to have to be the key with Aaron, even if it worked better in theory if Aaron didn't randomly walk up to him bitching about his own issues. As he exited the school, hands holding his backpack straps, he was on autopilot while his mind tried to work out how to not be the same bully he was back in Salt Lake.

Getting to sleep had been difficult, despite the exhaustion from drinking. He'd never actually slept with someone in the same room since his abilities kicked up; it wasn't like he'd been invited to an abundance of sleepovers as a kid. And as Bruce drifted off into sleep on the couch across the room, the murmurings from his subconscious drifted over into Jesse's ears. Memories came faster, easier, without the blockage of current conscious thought, and he felt like he learned a lot about the kid as he lay there awake. Yes, definitely a lot. Like about Daniel, that was ... more than a little interesting. In a pleasant-voyeur kind of way.
He drifted off for a few hours at least, the weariness in his body getting the better of his mind eventually, after the sun had come up. He was rather quickly entrenched in the wild dreams that weren't his and weren't necessarily anybody else's he knew. They were just there. Nightmares. He frowned reflexively in his sleep, grunting something unintelligible and rolling over to face the rest of the room, curling a bit in tangled sheets.

The bonfire was built, and once people started to arrive, the boys set it ablaze. With the fire there to keep them warm, everyone gathered around, talking in small groups mostly, twos and threes. Some roasted marshmallows and made smores, others drank hot chocolate, diving into whatever they brought with them. It was much more casual than a house party, thought Alexis, but in some ways more comfortable. She didn't know everyone there, but it wasn't so big a group that it wasn't possible. She'd just have to see how things went over the course of the night.

Who: Jesse & Bruce
When: lunch
Where: MSHS
Bruce realized about halfway through eating the sandwich his mom had packed for his lunch that he'd forgot to switch out his algebra book for his history book. He hurriedly finished off the sandwich and said bye to his sister and the other people they were sitting with. Then he headed off back to his locker to get the right book, because he knew he wouldn't have time to go back to his locker between fifth and sixth periods. He figured he could study Spanish some more, since it was one of the classes where the curriculum seemed to be in a different place from his last school. And foreign languages weren't exactly his forte. Once he'd switched out the books and reshouldered his bag, Bruce tried to figure out where he was going to settle for the rest of the lunch period. Going back to the cafeteria wouldn't be conducive to studying at all with how loud it was, and the library was too quiet.
Jesse had no desire to be in the cafeteria. Which was kind of his default setting. It was too loud, both physically and mentally, and he was the punching-bag for a lot of those fuckers, so. He was out in the hallway as usual, only not tucked into any corners. He was feeling restless, walky, despite not really having slept much the night before. He had his big headphones on, and his steps had picked up the rhythm to the song he was listening to as he strutted down the hallway. The only time he ever 'strutted' in school was when nobody else was around, so it was a good opportunity. His hands were up, fingers beating on an imaginary drum in front of him as he rocked out to himself. "Cryin' won't help ya, prayin' won't do you no good. Now cryin' won't help ya, prayin' won't do you no good," he sang along with Robert Plant in a high-pitched kind of way. His eyes were mostly closed and he was paying absolutely no attention to where he was going as he headed straight for Bruce.

It was cold. It felt good, for some reason, the cold. It was cleansing. Jesse had gotten an excuse from band because his mother was having a chemo treatment that afternoon. Only Scott was taking her, and Jesse didn't want to go. The hospital was a nightmare for him, he hated it. But who was he kidding, the whole thing was a nightmare. All of it, and it seemed that the worst from everyone's head wanted to beat at his brain until he was ready to scream. So he wasn't going. They understood.
Instead, he was laying on the low wall near the back entrance of the school, looking up at the dreary gray sky and idly shuffling his tarot cards on his stomach. It was soothing movement, and sort of made up for the fact that he didn't have his headphones on at the moment. He was listening to people, their snippets and flashes, as they walked by. Most of which they weren't even aware of. He was halfway searching for mirrors, but not putting any real effort into it, and looked pretty zoned for all intents and purposes, blonde hair sticking out of the side of his hood.

Who: Eben and Jesse
When: after school
Where: on-campus arcade
Jesse didn't feel like going directly home after band practice let out. He was still kind of thrown by his encounter with Chance. Usually he was better at hiding things than that, but ... what he'd seen was just too fucked up. Mirror doorways, what the hell. He'd wandered for a while until he decided on a spot to go and headed to NMU campus. There was an arcade there, and he had the itch to shoot some zombies. He had his headphones firmly on as he pumped quarters into House of the Dead and picked up the little plastic gun. He spread his legs and concentrated, tongue poking out just slightly between his lips.
Eben went for a walk after school, mostly just wandering. He liked wandering around campus in particular, because the buildings were neat, and there was a lot of different architecture involved. There were also video games, and he was cool with those. So, wandering into the arcade there, he smiled when he spotted Jesse. Walking over, he didn't say anything to the guy, and instead just stood and watched for a few minutes.

Submitted by second_chance on Wed, 12/31/2008 - 15:18.Who: Chance and Jesse
When: Lunchtime
Where: Halls
Chance was in a foul mood. He didn't know why and he didn't really try to understand it because he didn't really care. He didn't sleep much over the course of the night, he had a frustrating argument with his mother before breakfast and the weather was shitty. At school he was trying his hardest to keep to himself and not take his irritability out on anyone undeserving. It was hard, however, because it always seemed like the jackass jocks liked to needle him when he was in one of his moods.
It was a relief when lunchtime rolled around and he retreated to the back of the school rather than the cafeteria. He sat against the wall in the back hall, using a permanent black marker to start filling in his fingernails. It was a gay thing to do but he didn't care. He was bored and pissy for some reason and he figured he was better off drawing on himself than school property. And he was seriously considering ditching out for the rest of the day. He was thinking finally getting expelled might be worth it.

Who: Peyton and Jesse
When: lunchtime
Where: around the band room
The lunchroom was a no-go for Jesse. It seemed to be a sensitive type day, though he was in a residually good mood from the parade and the hella-wicked candy that came with it the day before. He just didn't feel like sitting through inane bits of conversation and life that might not have even come from this lifetime flitting through his head. So he opted for the hallway, taking his tray with him. There were usually people in the bandroom around this time, and he knew that drumming wasn't really the most non-interrupty way of making music, so he stayed out in the hall. His big earphones covered both ears, blasting Led Zeppelin into his head, and his sticks were out, keeping time with the drum-heavy song on the history book resting in his lap. His eyes were closed, lips moving soundlessly, and it was obviously he was Grooving.
The lunchroom seemed to be a no go for Peyton as well. She had homework for math class to finish, and more than that, she wasn't hungry. So she decided on the music room instead, walking down the fairly empty hallway to her destination. She came upon the room, but was distracted by Jesse Jericho sitting on the ground outside of it and drumming upon his history book. She bit her lip to keep the smile at bay in case he saw her and stopped, leaning against the opposite wall to watch. Anyone who could get that into music was definitely okay in her book, no matter what his "status" in school. She just wanted to know what song was playing in his ears, but she couldn't quite figure it out by his drumming alone.

Who: Julian and Jesse
Where: The parade
When: Afternoon
Julian was enjoying the parade through town. He hadn't got to go to the circus, but anyway, this was much more his thing, wandering along the street, occasionally stopping to sketch something or someone when the muse overtook him, but otherwise just enjoying the atmosphere. The parade itself seemed endless and endlessly colourful, full of jugglers and tumblers and all sorts of acts going by for seemingly ages with music and laughter, holding the locals in fascination.
His attention was drawn by one of the stalls set up at the side of the road, selling cotton candy and popcorn. And by the group of people dancing next to it. They made a pretty sight and the teenager stopped for a while to watch them.
