Who: Thom and Kaysen
Where: The basement, Thom's house
When: Night
Thom was in shock. He just felt numb. He'd been sitting on the couch in the basement of his home for he didn't even know how long, cradling an acoustic guitar he wasn't even playing, staring blankly at the wall across from him.
Tonight his one dream had come true - along with his worst nightmare. Everything was reality now, and it had all ended. All his illusions had come to an end, all his dreams had gone. Over. In one night.
tell your mom I said hi.

It was getting on towards nightish. It was dark, anyways, as Kaysen walked over to sit on Thom's back porch. Sure, she could knock. Or ring the doorbell. Or y'know, totally just open up the door and walk in like she owned the place. But...she didn't. Because she still wasn't at all sure what she was going to say. There were words. Opinions, in fact, but...expressing things wasn't really her forte.
Alright, she did fine with anger, but that was it. And she didn't really want to be pissy at him over this. She wanted to attempt rationality. Rationality, and like...normal talking tones and she could tell him what she thought and maybe it would be over.
Or, alternately, she could get pissed, say a bunch of shit all at once that she regretted later, had no idea how to apologize for, probably in the end would figure it was too much work anyways, and then everything would be Weird.
Which, actually, now that she was thinking about it, put things back to normal...
Casting a longing glance towards her house, she sighed, rejecting the idea of just going home again. No, she'd put this off for-fucking-ever. It was time to talk to him about The Chrissy Shit.
Thom was home, in the kitchen chopping up vegetables for dinner, having decided that he'd cook tonight, rather than grab a takeout. He saw the shadow pass the window and his first thought was Isaac, except it was smaller. He put the knife down and headed out, a little surprised to actually see Kaysen sitting on the porch. "Hi - you okay?" he asked, stepping out to her and sitting down.

Who: Thom (and kaysen if she replies)
Where: By text
When: around 8pm
Thom lay on the couch in his basement, the text to Kaysen ready to send, like he sent it every night. Largely the same thing, at largely the same time. He had to wonder if tonight it'd be asking for trouble. Had to wonder whether Isaac had had a chance to speak to her yet or not. But, he couldn't not send it, so off it went.
You okay? Just checking in. Thom

Kaysen had been sitting on the text message for ages, and knew she ought to just send it and be done with it. Rolling her eyes, she sat on her window seat and just sent the stupid thing. So. Things that look human and spit sparks. Any ideas?-K

Who: Thom and Kaysen (guest appearance by ashbelle)
Where: The treehouse in Thom's back yard
When: Early afternoon
The morning had been chaotic. The shadows hadn't reached Thom's house straight away. That made sense once they realised they were coming from the mirrors - Thom's house, thanks to his utter paranoia - had no mirrors anymore. It didn't matter too much though since the moment that he'd realised what was happening, he wasn't at his house anymore either - he was next door, where lived his best friend and his protected.

When: Late evening
Thom wondered whether he should be moving down to the basement again - he seemed to spend the majority of his time down here, after all. And added to that, the shadow he'd woken up to this morning, and the ones that had followed him round school all day. He felt safer down here, so down in his basement was where he was.

Who: Thom and Kaysen
Where: Thom's basement
When: Morning
Thom had stayed overnight at Isaac's house, though his friend had been quieter than usual. He wasn't happy with where things were right now, but in the middle of vamp!crisis when his protected had knocked herself out doing shit - really not the time for friendship talks, so Thom had been kinda avoiding, just for now.
There'd been a note from his mom when he got home, telling him to watch the news and informing him that it looked like the vampires had moved on. Which was so great he couldn't express it. School still wasn't back in session though, so he headed down to the basement to start clean up, converting it back to the band's room. Maybe he'd be feeling better about things if he could just get that space back. It'd at least give him a neutral topic with Isaac, something he could get the guy over for, something they could talk about that he wouldn't be left feeling that there were undertones about.
Kaysen, when she was physically able to get up and go over to the Harkin's household, did that. She had decided she was going to go shout at Thom after her conversation with Isaac, and she still planned to follow through on that. So, there she was. She paused outside the back door for a moment or two, wondering if she should knock. The past few days had kind of been in and out between both houses, so she actually wasn't totally sure. And anyways, she was there to yell at the guy, would it be weird to knock first? She was thinking about this too much. In the end, she walked in, and checked the basement first, since that was where they'd spent most of their time when she was there, and whenever she was over the house in the first place, that was where she went. "Thom! You in here?"

where: the treehouse
when: morning
Kaysen was not in a good mood. She hadn't slept well, she'd had a bad night, and generally speaking, she was of the opinion that Everything Sucked. So when dawn had hit, she'd left, being very quiet about it, but she did in fact take off. she'd considered going inside her house, back up to her room to sleep or something, but in the end decided she probably wouldn't do that anyways. So she'd climbed up into the treehouse, and sat up there, curled up with her hoodie pulled over her knees, arms hugging them, even her hood up as she sort of glared out at the dreary world. She could see little lines of smoke in between the leaves, and tried to resist the urge to push the branches back to see them better.
That she managed...she probably wouldn't see the source anyways, she'd probably just see more smoke, and have it pounded home even better that the world had gone to hell. She was really heavily down in her own mind, not paying attention to most of her surroundings as she brooded.
Thom had missed Kaysen leaving - once dawn had come, his guard had dropped somewhat and with the texts from Leija and generally being dead on his feet, he'd headed up out of the basement to brew some really, really strong coffee. It was only when he'd down his first cup and poured himself another that he realised that she was missing. So, he went looking for her, carrying a couple of mugs of coffee and some granola bars that would pass for breakfast. In actual fact, the tree house was one of the first places he looked - mostly because he doubted she'd hang around his house and he didn't particularly want to face her parents, so down the garden seemed like a plan. And he was rewarded by the sight of Kaysen-feet, though obviously drawn well back. "Can I come up?" he called. "I have coffee and, er, breakfast," he offered, suddenly realising that he didn't actually know whether she drank coffee or not. Oh well.

note: kaysen's wearing her hoodie of 'you don't see me if you're out to cause me harm!' thom spelled for her, so only available to someone not looking to mess with her brain. ^_^ (this also means, people who're generally mean to her won't really see her around school either, feeding those 'she's missing' rumors)
Kaysen had heard all the rumors and everything, even the ones that involved her. Hell, people said them when she was standing right there, like they didn't even see her. She'd even managed to hear that she was missing. They were whispered all over the halls, everywhere, and there was a whole air of dread and suspicion in the school. Or maybe that was her, projecting. It was possible. She didn't know. She didn't care. To her, she was just shocked. This stuff happened around here? She had known that there were like, a couple murders a few months ago n stuff, but it was a little fucking different to hear about it in conversation at the dinner table between your parents, and to have it laying on the front steps of your school.
They were in her grade, even. She knew them. Not well, considering the people she did know well were like, countable on one hand with fingers to spare, but still. They were like...dead. After the bell had rang, and everyone else had gone to class, she found herself sitting inside the stairwell, the ones that lead out to the front steps outside. There was police tape all across the doors the windows papered over so no one could gawk out, and big signs that said to take other exits. The doors were probably locked. She didn't know, she hadn't tried them. She was just sitting on the landing, her back to the doors, staring down the short flight of steps to the corridor that opened up below. She didn't really care if she was marked absent for her class. Her head was too...staticky. That was what it was like. Like her brain had gotten knocked off-station, and the volume was up the whole way. White noise.

Who: Thom and Kaysen
Where: Outside Kaysen's house
When: Late afternoon
Thom had practically bounced back from his date with Leija - which wasn't something Thom did very often, but it had been known. It had gone so well and there was no question that he was going to see her again. Just thinking about it made him smile. He'd headed straight round to Isaac's to tell him, because how could he not? And the guy would want to know! But he didn't get all the way there - stopped by the fact that he saw the pads and helmet he'd sent Kaysen lying out the front of the house. She must have left them there - he hadn't been impressed with their desertion, but it did give him a chance to do what he'd been unable to do before since he'd got them mail order.
Checking there was nobody looking, Thom had collected them up and taken them home. Naturally, his house was empty and he had no disturbances as he set up the circle and walked his way throguh the protection spell that he'd learned last year but hardly ever used. It was slow going - he was far from great at this stuff, but he was getting there and he was careful to ensure that each step was done perfectly. He blinked at the small puff of purple smoke that the instructions stated indicated the spell had been performed properly, before starting his clean up.

Who: Thom and Kaysen
Where: Graevaret School and St James residence
When: Late afternoon
Thom had enjoyed the day spent lazing around in the park - which, in fact, was what he did most days this summer, but eventually he had to head home. Not because he had to be home at any set time - like as not his mom would still be at work and would be at work until long after dark - but he was getting hungry and the afternoon was getting on some. His intention had been just to head straight home, but somehow he ended up taking a diversion round to Graevaret. And, oh look, there was Kaysen on her board. And damn, didn't he just feel so much better for seeing that? Which was wrong on so many levels. This was stupid, he didn't know what he was doing here. He should just go. Shaking his head, he hefted his guitar further onto his shoulder and made to walk on by, even if the 'ignoring her and walking on by' thing wasn't really working for him as he kept casting glances in her direction to make sure she was wasn't doing anything stupid that was going to get her hurt.
Kaysen was nearly always doing something stupid that might get her hurt. She was a skateboarder, and she did it constantly. And even the very best skateboarders fell over and scraped themselves up. She was damn good at it, really, far better on her board than on her feet, but that didn't stop her from completely biffing it when she noticed Thom, and not only noticed him, but he was looking at her. So not allowed. So that microsecond of lapsed concentration lead to her finding herself face first on the sidewalk, hurting in several places at once. Awesome. This was her best. Day. Evar.
