There's a Reason for the Warnings...

Who: Mathias and open

The problem, Mathias mused as both men suddenly popped out of existence, was that people didn't actually stop to think that there might be a reason for all the 'do not fight in this establishment' warnings dotted around the place. They really should do, but they didn't. Well, those two hadn't - Mathias looked around the bar at the remaining patrons and figured that maybe now they'd just witnessed the two being teleported out of the place, they might actually take that to heart.

It had been a quiet night up until that point. Monday night, not much going on. Math had been sitting at one end of the bar sipping a particularly fine whiskey, taking a night off from talking to people, when it all started. Hell, Mathias didn't know who'd started it, only that suddenly there were two men both throwing punches at the same time. At least, Mathias figured it was the same time - usually the building only teleported the aggressor out, at least as far as he knew that was the way it worked. And both men had gone. And the bar was suddenly peaceful again.

Mathias looked around at the remaining patrons again and internally sighed - he figured that he should put on his game face and go play damage control. Explanation time it was. He smiled and headed toward the nearest person.

After bugging out on Doc and Jocelyn, Kayos had been generally wandering around town, looking around, getting herself familiar with the area, which...being there wasn't a whole lot of area to be familiar with, and she'd been to the Marquette in her own reality, it was pretty easy going. She was looking for a warehouse, though, which was going to be harder to find. She either needed to find herself a good one, or start looking at some of the old buildings that were all abandoned-like and buy one of them and start renovating the shit out of it. Warehouses were just easier in general to renovate, because they were wide open spaces to begin with. Plus, people paid a lot less attention to them, but oh well. Either way, she needed something, because after the vibe she'd gotten from Jocelyn that shit was her territory, she was just going to be taking that not so subtle hint.

Babylon was busy - not quite 'line out the door' busy, but crowded all the same. Only so many people in town could actually even find the place, after all, so that limited numbers. And having a queue really wasn't something that you wanted when you had a bar/club that 'normal' people shouldn't be able to find without help.

Caleb was just having an interesting life, now that he was in Marquette. There was really no other way to put it. It was interesting. Sure, there were a whole damn host of other words that could be added in for a more accurate description, but at the moment, he was going with 'interesting'. It was that or go the way of Dorian, who ran past again muttering something under his breath about...god knew what. Caleb didn't.

The house was on fire. And not just little bitty 'where's the fire extinguisher' on fire. Like flames shooting out of the exploded out windows on fire. Like Caleb could see flames eating their way through the roof on fire. Like he was sitting there, on top of his car by the curb, and he was pretty fucking warm for it being the middle of goddamn winter. He was pretty relaxed, really, considering, feet down on the open passenger's side door since he'd opened the window, forearms resting on top his knees. Maybe he'd start freaking out any minute now, but really he didn't see it.

A Little Chaos Could Be Fun

Who: Dorian and Mathias
Where: Nevermore
When: Morning

While Dorian didn't exactly put in enough hours at Nevermore to consider what he was doing as 'work', he did make a daily appearance and check to make sure everything was in working order. The whole book-renting thing was working out really well, since more people could afford to rent the books than buy them. People were desperate for information and he didn't blame them. He would be too, if he hadn't been brought up to believe in all the crazy shit that was out there. Even then, his beliefs didn't cover ghosts suddenly wandering the world. It was the one question commonly asked that he still didn't have a good solid answer for, but life went on, and he'd never had all the answers to begin with.

It was a night to celebrate if ever there was one in Rey's time here. He felt refreshed, revitalized, armored against the boredom that had mired him down since moving here. The daylight had been nearly depressing; it meant he wouldn't see Marguerite while he was tending to his errands for the day, for certain. Which would only be a huge problem if Rey had anything beyond a dark amusement over the night he'd shared with her, so the day had gone by easily enough. But when it became night? Well, he couldn't linger around the quiet house or Rafael's moods. He needed a drink, a reason to wander the streets.

Okay, so it was childish and probably beneath him, but he hadn’t actually seen that much snow in his life and Mathias was at a point where he wanted to enjoy it. So, whilst his brothers weren’t looking, he’d taken himself off to the park, where he was busy building a snowman. He’d rolled up the first ball and set it down and he was just starting on the second, oblivious to the fact that he looked a little incongruous – a thirty-something guy in a thin jacket and no gloves rolling snow with a cigarette hanging out the corner of his mouth. But, he was weirdly content with his task.

Eris had been waiting for Mathias to arrive. And really, his timing was fairly fortuitous. She had the masquerade planned, and that ought to be an interesting time. So, she would like to have her new 'bodyguard' on hand for it. Just in case. Generally speaking, she was looking forward to getting a better gauge on the town. Who and what was in it. Besides, she was bored, really. Nothing exciting had happened in a while. The shadows had been entertaining, but really.

Therefore, she thought she'd go and give people an excuse to converge. On her terms, of course. She planned for some surprises. She got notified when Mathias was on his way up, and of course waited for him to come in, setting everything else aside for the moment.

He'd considered leaving this until tomorrow. He'd only just got back to town, after all. Barely enough time to shower and change. But, what would that achieve, anyhow? He'd made his deal with the woman and he'd keep to his end of it - breaking it wouldn't accomplish anything. So, having stood outside for a couple of cigarettes' worth of time, he headed in and up to her office. He paused outside, before figuring he should probably knock.

Mathias had been hoping he'd get the answering machine, waiting until she was most likely to be at work before picking up the phone and dialling Olivia's number. He smielda little as it kicked in. "Hey Princess, it's me - just to let you know I'm back in town. Hope you're doing okay." He hung up then, tucking his phone back into his pocket as he stood before Babylon and wondered how long it would be before he couldn't leave it any longer and had to go inside.

Rose could barely believe Caleb was actually in town and ready to meet her. She would have gushed at someone if she had someone to gush to but as it was she was just silently gushing to herself and telling herself that it would be okay and not awkward at all even if it would be her and Caleb and his brother, or brothers? She wasn't exactly sure who'd be there.

Who: Dorian and Mathias

Since his conversation with Caleb on the night of the new moon, Dorian had been relatively quiet. Internally, he'd assumed the worst, taking it as confirmation surrounding the worst of the fears he held about himself. He wasn't sure what he'd become or what to do about it, which was almost as bad as pretending to be something he wasn't. If he'd found himself on his quest for enlightenment, if that was indeed what he'd been doing, then he wasn't pleased with the result. Maybe he'd have been better going insane in Marquette, running Nevermore day in and day out.

Sitting at the table, he went through the task of cleaning his gun, something he should have done yesterday. He'd put it off, initially annoyed by his claws. Even after they were gone, it took him a while to get back around to it. Now they had all the time he could need and he wasn't sure what else to do.

Luck would have it that the first chance Dorian got to have a shower, he'd had to deal with horns and claws. Both he could handle, though it made things far more difficult than he would have liked. There was no way he was waiting though, so he was forced to deal with all the tiny scratches that now littered his body. It was a small price to pay for being clean. Dorian laid out on the sofa, shirtless as he poked at the scar from the bullet he'd received prior to meeting up with his brothers. It was healing nicely, or as nice as it could seeing as how he'd sewn it up himself. Once it was completely done healing, maybe he'd get another tattoo to cover it. "What do we have to eat?" he asked.

Mathias was lying on the floor, in front of the open fire that he'd built up before the moonrise. doing it after dark, given his claws - well, that would be too hard. "N't shure," he said, his voice distorted round the fangs he sported to match the claws. This form really wasn't built for in depth conversation, after all.

Caleb came in from where he'd been out on the deck, talking on the phone to a girl he didn't know, and yet couldn't quite leave alone, and he looked less than pleased. His impish form was less hindering than some things his brothers had going on, but it was still annoying a lot of the time. "...assuming we head home any time here...we can go through Ohio, yeah?" he asked, hopping up to perch on the seat of one of the chairs, automatically starting to pick at a loose thread on the bottom of his jeans leg.

It hadn't been all that difficult to hop on a train, but it had been a pain in the ass staying on one that was going the direction Dorian wanted to go. Seeing as how he hadn't actually bought a ticket, he rode in the carrier cars, along with whatever was being transported across the continent. Sometimes the trains would stop, at which point he'd jump on another, hoping to get to his destination faster.

Spotting his tracker was easy, as the demon had to jump from train to train to keep up. Dorian pretended not to notice, and the demon kept his distance. He assumed there would be more to follow, that the bulk of them were all two steps behind, probably traveling by much more conventional means. While he still had a long way to go, Dorian was finally at a point where he could relax, and he opened his phone, this time dialing up his older brother.

Eris was upstairs in her office, going over some of the books, and files regarding both her bodyguard and her pet, both of which she had out on assignment. She was still healing up from her own brush with the shadows, which were thankfully now gone. She was leaning back in her chair, bare feet propped up on her desk as she flipped through the files, smirking faintly at some of the behavioral observances that were noted down. Yes, she'd be enjoying this.

There was a crackle on the line and a voice just about came through, indistinct at best. "...th? ..uk. ....cond." Things went quiet before his brother returned. "...hear me now? I'm... stuck. Math?" Clearer this time.
