Dorian had spent most of the day working on Dean's question, and doing his best to dig up information about fades. The long and short of it was that there was barely any information at all out there. This didn't surprise Dorian though. It was taboo magic, the type that one could be tried under regular laws for. Murder was murder, no matter what the end result was.

It had been far too long since they'd had a good talk, so Isabelle was waiting patiently in their room for her sister to get home from school. Maybe Medea had just been too busy with that new toy of hers or school or something, but they'd been missing each other lately and Isabelle wasn't comfortable with that.

So there she was, sitting on her bed with a magazine open, even if she wasn't reading it, listening for her sister's arrival.

Medea had to admit, she thought the idea of the snow sculptures thing was interesting. She was generally artistic by nature, so it appealed to certain parts of her. The ones that had popped up in the side yard were interesting, though she thought they said more about the mentality of the average high school student rather than anything else. Things were telling. For her own creation, she'd done something she knew would appeal to Porter.

She hadn't done a superhero theme or anything, but she'd taken a classic story. Since she'd gotten a spot by a huge plowed snowbank, she'd carved into the side of it. It had taken her since they'd announced the idea in the first place, but she was alright with that. It meant she hadn't gotten time to catch up with her sister much if at all, but Isabelle was busy with her own things anyhow. Medea was busy on her own track.

She'd carved out a little 'cave' in the side of the bank, and had done basically a dark version of the little mermaid. The mermaid was out in front of the cave, sitting on a 'rock' with bones scattered around the base of it, and there were many inside the 'cave' as well. It wasn't as detailed as she would have wanted it to be, but it was at the very least halfways decent, in her own opinion. She was of course, working off of mermaid lore she'd dug up in the library that said they were flesh eaters. (Well, that and supposedly if you ate their flesh you became immortal, but that was a harder theme to put into a snow sculpture.)

Perhaps her own sculpture spoke more of her own psyche as well. Standing back, she surveyed the scene once again, like she did every day when she got out there, before she started to work at it again.

Medea didn't generally eat in the cafeteria--that was more Isabelle's territory, and she was more than happy to leave her sister to taming that crowd. So, she took her food and often found new places to eat, to see if she could meet mroe fringe people in the school social structure. It was the first day she'd been able to leave her arm sling at home, so she was glad for the freedom that gave her, even if she was still bruised a bit. She just didn't heal well enough to be fully better yet.

So, finding a little area by the gym to settle herself on the floor, lunch tugged out of it's bag, she opened up her abnormal psych book, and started skimming over things she'd already read. She knew that there was a funeral today for the old queen bee...that was making the environment in school interesting. Now all she had to do was hope someone came by who didn't want to be alone.

The whole memorial phenomena was interesting. Medea had spent some time in the gym, watching all of the students, trying to pick out who was genuinely upset and who was faking it for the attention. As far as she could tell, those who had lost one of the other three students were genuine. Chrissy's crowd, however, was a mixture of genuine grief, feigned grief, and people who were vying for position and attention while everything was going on.

Nate was a busy boy during school, writing text messages, e-mails and handwritten notes to try and do some damage control at least with people he knew. So they'd probably think he was insane after the weekend but so be it.

Unlike most kids his age, Porter wasn't one to crank up the music in his room. Sure, it was his little sanctuary, and he hid there fairly often. But he didn't have any need to shake the walls, and he liked the fairly loose standards his parents held him to as far as things like curfew. As long as his grades were up and he kept the volume down? He had free reign. So he'd never regretted buying a good set of wireless headphones, especially not after days like today. Porter was lounging on his bed, headphones on and with his laptop and art tablet set up nearby on a chair. He didn't look happy, but who would? That Aaron kid was a pain already, and Porter wanted to believe he was only imagining mocking snickers from others in the halls whenever he moved between classes now.

But hey, school was over for the day, and he'd made it to the Fortress of Solitude. Leaning to one side, Porter was busy with his tablet, his eyes intent on the screen as he highlighted panels of a page he'd scanned for the comic, clicking at the laptop to blend in background colors. It was coming along, and he felt certain he'd hit his next update deadline, so long as he could resist the temptation to add Aaron as a victim, not to mention dodging potential distractions outside of school.

Medea had found Porter's house, remembering where it had been from before, and while she knew it might be construed as strange to go calling upon him so soon--she was willing to bet he'd be flattered by it at least somewhat. So, she had gone over, knocked on the door, and smiled nicely for his parents. She'd been a perfectly wonderful girl, effecting a curious if restrained demeanor, like she was very curious about things but was trying to hide that fact. She was led to his room, and she knocked, stepping back so she wasn't crowding the door.

Medea was walking around the school, munching on her bag of apple pieces, she was looking around, basically trying to find someone interesting looking enough to speak to. She had the bonfire that night, but she was still expanding her network of acquaintances. She was nearing the theater, and opened up the door to peer inside, liking the dark, cavernous space. It was just interesting for her. The acoustics in a theater were lovely. She would love to take real time with someone, see how many different kinds of sounds she could get to echo off of the walls, reverberate through everything.

Wandering at School

medea wall2

who: medea and open
where: mshs hallways

Medea was wandering the hallways, looking around. More, she was getting a lay of the place. It was comparable in size to her last highschool, though the layout was a little more open. Wider, more room to breathe so to speak. She had forgone the lunchroom today, figuring that her sister would be in there making a splash. So she was going an alternate route, she was making herself available to those who may not be so social. After all, they worked best when they could hit up several different levels of the social order.

So, she was walking around, just looking at things. The trophys in the trophy cases, the displays in the glass cases that lined the walls. She'd found one classroom that the ceiling tiles had been taken down and painted, and she thought that was fairly amusing. Currently, she was walking along a row of lockers, fingertips lighting along the dials. She looked bored but really she was just spinning all the dials. After all, most people set their lockers up so they just had to spin it back to the last number, or they could just be opened up. She was just subtle about it, and was happy with spreading a bit of annoyance in her wake today. It was all about the little things.

Gabe and Kavin made short work of getting the house party ready. Promise Theory was set up in the corner of the large living room, playing their set and a stereo was located beneath the television to be turned on when they took their breaks. The kitchen held a slew of alcohol spread across the kitchen table, along with chips, sodas and pizza's. Disposable cups and plates across the counter. His bedroom door had long since been locked, but he'd left the door to the guest room open in order to make sure there was enough room for everyone to move about. Once the first person arrived, it seemed like the steady influx of people didn't stop. The door constantly opening with people flowing in. Any thoughts that the party was going to be a small one quickly left Kavin's mind and he began to mingle with the people as they arrived.

Moving to Marquette was hardly an issue for Isabelle; after all, the only person she cared about in Iron Mountain was her sister, and Medea was coming with. It was only an hour away, but really, that was all the girls needed. An hour was enough distance to ensure no one had heard of them - or had heard of the 'tragedy' that surrounded them. It was also a delightfully fresh canvas with which to play.
