Who: Thom and Lauren
Where: Library
When: Early afternoon
Thom was what he considered 'fully recovered' today - which meant that whilst he still had wicked claw marks down the side of his face (though he'd worked up a spell the night before, some cream infused with herbs and white magic that was meant to promote healing and reduce scarring - it was just a pity that it smelled of flowery girly crap), he no longer felt like someone had taken several decades off his lifespan. He was calling it good, and he'd left his bed behind.

This was risky. Isabelle wasn't usually this rash with her decisions, but between the weather being lovely and her foster parents suggesting she and her sister "get out of the house" and knowing how precarious the situation was...well maybe it was worth the risk.

I used to keep a diary. I guess I still do, from time to time. I still have the journal - it sits on my desk. So many of the pages are blank. I can't risk them being read, so anything I have to say, anything I need to write down, I do it on paper - and then I burn it.

Where: The basement, Thom's house
When: Night
Thom was in shock. He just felt numb. He'd been sitting on the couch in the basement of his home for he didn't even know how long, cradling an acoustic guitar he wasn't even playing, staring blankly at the wall across from him.
Tonight his one dream had come true - along with his worst nightmare. Everything was reality now, and it had all ended. All his illusions had come to an end, all his dreams had gone. Over. In one night.

Who: Thom
Where: His house
When: The wee small hours
It was the sound of something breaking that woke Thom. He lay in bed, wondering if he was hearing things. The house was so quiet. Dark. Maybe he'd dreamed it.
But there. Again - there was another noise. Something scraping across the floor by the sound of things. He lay in bed, staring at the ceiling in the darkness, listening hard. Yes, a scarping - a chair moving across the floor. Maybe it was his mother. There was another crash. No, not his mother.

Researching Ghosts
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 04/25/2009 - 18:16.Who: Alexis and Thom
Where: Nevermore
When: Afternoon
With Michael gone, Alexis had the house to herself, though her night was just as restless as ever. She needed to talk to her father, who arrived home sometime during the night, but it wasn't urgent enough that they discuss it at three in the morning. Even if she had tried to talk to him then, she wasn't sure what she wanted to say, and instead spent her waking moments trying to figure that out. What did he hunt and what did he not? It was a question that followed her to work that afternoon as she pulled the books on ghosts that she and Thom were going to look through. She planned to get an answer soon; she wouldn't let the weekend pass without finding out. Until then, there was work to be done.
A Long Walk Home
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 04/11/2009 - 16:04.Who: Alexis and Thom
Where: The streets of Marquette
When: After school
For the first time in her life, everyone around Alexis was talking about the supernatural. Some couldn't believe their eyes, some were freaking out, but pretty much everyone had seen the same thing. She'd always thought that, if everyone knew what she knew, she wouldn't feel so alone. That wasn't the case, at least not right now. Just because they believed in ghosts didn't mean they believed in everything else. Furthermore, their belief didn't cover acceptance and talking to people who were still in denial made her even more frustrated. And panicked. When it came down to it, this wasn't what she was used to. Ghosts weren't supposed to be visible to everyone.
While she knew about the supernatural, she wasn't used to running into it on the streets. That included ghosts. Or spirits. She didn't really understand the difference. What she knew was that she'd rather not cross their paths. Alexis started walking home from school with paranoia practically coming off of her in waves as she watched for ghosts. She didn't know what they could do, but she didn't want to find out.
Missing Chrissy
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 03/18/2009 - 14:21.Who: Gabe and Thom
Where: MSHS, the gym
When: Late morning
After Peyton left, Gabe stayed in the gym. At one point he wandered around to the memorials for the other students, but he kept coming back to Chrissy's, his thoughts growing darker as he imagined the last few minutes of her life. He hoped it was fast, that it had been as painless as possible. He hated the thought of her running scared through the park, unable to get away, dying in terror. It just wasn't right, and it was made even worse when he remembered that he would become that sort of monster. Gabe sat at the back of the bleachers, staring into space, as that fact sunk in. Every full moon he'd be reminded of her, of what he might do to the people he cared for.
Thom walked into the gym. He'd been here earlier on, but he couldn't stay all day - he just couldn't do that. He felt conflicted today. He'd be here because he couldn't not be. Yes, the girl was dead, but he wasn't crass and callous enough to just forget that they'd had something - even if all they'd had between them was a lie, a fake. He wasn't going to suddenly end that. But still, he felt almsot dirty, carrying it through, carrying on the lie. Even though admitting the truth would be no better. He was trapped in this - there was no way out, there was no right thing to do here. And there was still that guilt, that lingering guilt, that maybe he could have saved her, even though he knew he couldn't - for so many reasons it was pointless to count them all. So, he'd been there that morning, and then gone off to class, and now he was back again, pausing at her memorial before looking round. He spotted Gabe on the bleachers, made eye contact, wondering whether he'd be welcome to go over. Wondering whether he wanted to - given the situation, and given how things were left between them last time. Everything was a mess.

Who: Thom

When: After dark
Thom sat alone in the darkness, lightly playing chords on his guitar, though most of his attention was focused out of the window he'd sat himself by. The house was dark - it was easier to see the street if he sat in the dark - and he'd angled his chair so he had a clear view of the St James house.

Submitted by second_chance on Wed, 02/11/2009 - 16:26.Who: Chance and Thom
When: Before lunch
Where: Halls
It had been awhile since Chance had spoken to Thom. The two weren't friends and they shared only one thing in common - Kaysen. So he generally didn't make it a point to find the guy on a daily basis to say hello. But he also didn't blatantly ignore him when they were in the hallway at the same time, like they were now. He remembered what Kaysen had said about Thom at the bonfire and while he was secretly kind of happy that she was still so pissed off at him, he also felt bad, since he knew she was upset about it. He nodded to Thom as he approached, shifting his book bag from one shoulder to another. "Hey man, how's it going?"
Thom stopped as he was approached, cautiously shifting the weight of his guitar further onto his shoulder, until it knocked against the book bag he had hung over his other shoudler. He wondered what this was about, whether Kaysen was still pissy over... whatever she was pissy about this time. "Hey," he said, again, cautiously.
Catching Up

Who: Thom and Isaac
When: mid morning
Where: Thom's place
Isaac felt like he hadn't really talked to Thom in a while. And he wasn't terribly cool with that. So he woke up Sunday morning determined to do something about it. He took a shower, threw on some clothes, grabbed his bass, and headed out the back door to tromp through the snow and go next door. He knew his friend would probably be up -- likely for hours already -- so he didn't bother to call first. Even if he wasn't, he was getting up. They had chilling to do, that was more important than sleep. He walked into the back and started for the kitchen and the basement first.
Thom had, in fact, been up for hours already - and he was downstairs in the basement, twiddling more than anything else. He'd bought new strings for his acoustic yesterday and he was fitting them at the moment, making sure they were in and tuned to his liking, taking his time over it - and good lazy Sunday job as far as he was concerned. He looked up as he heard someone coming down the stairs and smiled as he saw Isaac. "Hey man, how's it going?" he asked.
"It's going, you hermity bastard," he said and threw Thom a grin. He came all the way down the stairs and moved to hand off one of the soda cans he'd snagged from the kitchen fridge before he'd headed down. Then perched on one of the amps and ducked out from underneath his bass strap. "Same old shit, different day, what's up with you?" he asked.
"Being a hermity bastard, course," Thom grinned, adjusting what he hoped was for the last time and giving the strings a strum, trying an E minor chord. "Needed new strings," he added, propping the guitar against his chest and reaching for the can. "Thanks."

It was getting on towards nightish. It was dark, anyways, as Kaysen walked over to sit on Thom's back porch. Sure, she could knock. Or ring the doorbell. Or y'know, totally just open up the door and walk in like she owned the place. But...she didn't. Because she still wasn't at all sure what she was going to say. There were words. Opinions, in fact, but...expressing things wasn't really her forte.
Alright, she did fine with anger, but that was it. And she didn't really want to be pissy at him over this. She wanted to attempt rationality. Rationality, and like...normal talking tones and she could tell him what she thought and maybe it would be over.
Or, alternately, she could get pissed, say a bunch of shit all at once that she regretted later, had no idea how to apologize for, probably in the end would figure it was too much work anyways, and then everything would be Weird.
Which, actually, now that she was thinking about it, put things back to normal...
Casting a longing glance towards her house, she sighed, rejecting the idea of just going home again. No, she'd put this off for-fucking-ever. It was time to talk to him about The Chrissy Shit.
Thom was home, in the kitchen chopping up vegetables for dinner, having decided that he'd cook tonight, rather than grab a takeout. He saw the shadow pass the window and his first thought was Isaac, except it was smaller. He put the knife down and headed out, a little surprised to actually see Kaysen sitting on the porch. "Hi - you okay?" he asked, stepping out to her and sitting down.
Library Talk
Submitted by tacithom on Fri, 01/02/2009 - 11:10.
Who: Thom and Chrissy
When: Fourth Period
Where: Library
Spanish? Yeah, not today. Chrissy just wasn't in the mood to sit around pretending like she was paying attention to the pronunciation of those stupid nouns the class was learning. So she weaseled herself out of the class, telling the teacher she wasn't feeling well and wanted to go see the nurse. Of course she never made it to the nurse. Instead she took a detour and headed into the library. A little quiet would be nice. With Aaron back in town, every time Kimber found her, it was to complain about the boy. And whenever she was around Aaron, well, he was just a talker anyway. Quiet, yeah, that'd be nice.
So the library it was, heading towards the back of the room. Turning past a shelf, she saw Thom. She hadn't spent much time with the boy the last couple days. Aaron taking up a lot of her time, so she headed over, coming up behind him and running her fingers along his shoulder to get his attention. "Hi there, pretty boy." she said with a smile.
Of Costumes and Other Things

So, he had a costume. And, really, he figured that it could have been worse. Looking like a 1920s gangster for the night wasn't exactly hard work, in the scheme of things. He could do that - he might even go as far as stealing his mom's eyeliner and painting on a thin moustache or something. Hell, if something was worth doing, it was worth doing properly.
Luckily, he had her car as well today, which had meant that he'd been able to drive him and Chrissy to the store to choose costumes, and then back to her house. And he'd be able to drive tonight, a bonus in his opinion as they pulled to a stop outside her house and he turned off the engine.
Unexpected Turns

Who: Chrissy and Thom
Where: The party!
When: Evening
Chrissy came to Kavin's party looking like she just walked off the runway. She wasn't one to do things in halves, especially for a social gathering of this magnitude. Kavin's house had a bit more space than Gabe's, but people were still filling every inch, crunched together and spread across every little bit of space there was. Despite the cold out, she wore a skirt, a short one, tight around her thighs, a pair of strappy black heels to match it and a sparkly, low-cut white blouse. She discarded her jacket with everyone else's once she arrived, fashionably late of course, and made her way towards the band. Appearances were to be kept. She leaned against the wall, watching Thom play, making sure her eyes didn't drift from the boy. She even gave him a smile or two when she caught his attention. A few moments with Thom and then she'd head off to mingle through the crowd, and Gabe owed her a drink so he was to be found too.
Thom had been relieved when Chrissy didn't show early for time before they began, as she'd asked for. They were half way through one of their more upbeat numbers when he lifted his eyes at the start of a line and she was standing there. He was proud of himself that he didn't miss a beat, continuing on, even meeting her eyes and smiling a little. He was getting better at this acting thing, it seemed. They played a few more as Thom made sure that she was the centre of his attention, before he called a halt and announced they were taking a short break. Placing his guitar carefully back on its stand, he headed over to her.

Submitted by betterthanyou on Fri, 12/05/2008 - 14:20.Who: Thom & Chrissy
When: Towards the end of lunch
Where: Music room
After leaving Gabe's company, Chrissy made her way towards the music room, decidedly not going to the lunch room. She figured she could use the time to further the faux relationship and hang with Thom in his natural surroundings. She found the boy in one of the rooms, fingers brushing across the keys of a piano. She just stood in the doorway for a moment, listening to the melody before walking in further and giving his hair a bit of a ruffle. "Hey you." she said, flashing a smile at the boy.
Thom had been aware of someone coming into the room, but it hadn't stopped him playing. At least, not until he felt fingers in his hair and heard the voice. He stopped and closed his eyes for a moment - he'd hoped not to have to do this this lunchtime. He didn't listen to rumours, but that didn't mean that he didn't hear them, and there were definitely a number flying today. And he'd known that since some of them involved her, he'd be expected to play his part. But, there were also the rumours about his ex, which even though he dismissed them as bullshit, it still brought things to the surface he'd prefer to deal with alone. But, obviously, that wasn't going to be an option. He took a breath, opened his eyes and, just a moment after he'd stopped playing, turned to her. "Hi," he said, glancing toward the open door. They were alone, but anyone could walk past at any moment.
