What's new
Submitted by gahr on Sun, 02/03/2008 - 11:26.Woke up. Not sure what happened-energy shortage?-don't know how long I've been in that state. Don't remember motel owner at all. I suspect he tried to kick me out without success. I guess it's this time of the year again, when I gotta find another hotel. Will try and get out of here without him seeing me. Maybe I have done something and I don't remember it, but it doesn't change the fact it gathers too much attention. I believe it's been a week at least.
First entry: leaving on a mission tonight.

Mindfuckery
Submitted by once_burned on Fri, 11/23/2007 - 23:07.Who: Caleb and Leija
When: late into even later
Where: mostly the orphanage
It was late. Edging in toward midnight. But Leija couldn't sleep. She'd tried, a couple of times, but her mind was too busy going in ten or twelve directions at once. She briefly pondered calling Thom, but decided that he'd probably had enough of her today. Anyway, she wanted to be out and moving around, and he might object to middle-of-the-night wandering. But she didn't want to be alone either, oddly. She chewed on her bottom lip and looked at her phone for a while before she dialed Caleb's number. He probably needed checking on anyway, and she hadn't heard from him in ... a day? Two? Something like that. Leija got up to pace while the phone rang, trying not to crawl out of her skin like a crazy person.
Caleb frowned a little as he heard a ring tone. It actually took him a second to realize he was getting a phone call on his cell, and he dug around on his floor to grab it, setting his sketch book aside. Finally finding it, he glanced at the number. ...Leija? Did she have the wrong number or something? He hesitated a second more before he answered. "Hello?"
She'd been wondering if he was going to answer at all. Maybe she was interrupting something. He did have a girlfriend, after all, even if she sucked. Maybe he was asleep. Maybe he just didn't want to talk to her for whatever reason. Oh yeah! Maybe he thought she was psychotic, claiming to be what she was. But then he picked up. "Hi," she said, and hesitated her own second. "Um ... how are you?" Wow ... if they gave out awards for lameitude ...
Free as a Coyote
Submitted by uneven_trade on Wed, 11/21/2007 - 23:02.Who: Olivia and Mac
When: Evening
Where: Lakeshore
It was becoming somewhat of a tradition for Olivia to pop by the lake after her waitressing shift ended. Or rather, after her waitressing shift ended, and she downed a few drinks before wandering in that direction. This night, she passed quite a few of those dead cats - which she found to be completely disgusting, by the way, and wondered when the city was going to maybe clean them up. She'd read about animal control in the papers, and didn't they have city people to clean up roadkill? Or something. In any case, they were going to start stinking soon. She'd also yet to hear from Marcos, but she called everyday, just to make sure his cell phone was still in use. He would show up eventually, or contact her. And she wasn't leaving this place until he did. So other than work, she'd kept to herself, only really speaking the minimum to her customers at the diner, or Babylon. At this point, she didn't have much desire to speak to anyone unless she had too.
She also knew she'd have to find a new place to sleep if she was going to stick around Marquette for a bit longer. Her current hotel room was taking most of her tips. She needed something cheap. Hell, a cot with a roof over her head would be sufficient at this point if it wasn't going to bleed her dry. It was a lot to think about - but she'd worry about it in the morning maybe. Finding her way to the shore, she sat, took off her shoes, and dug her toes into the sand. Buzzing off of the drinks she'd gotten at the bar beforehand, she lit a cigarette and fell back onto her back, watching the sky and feeling rather pleasant for the first time in a long time.
More Than Meets The Eye!
Submitted by mistress_eris on Wed, 11/21/2007 - 22:57.Who: Scox & Eris
Where: Babylon
When: Early Evening
Scox had turned back around after The Smoking Guy had disappeared. That was lame. Don't tease with riddles and innuendo and then just slink off without explanation. That was just plain rude. And Scox was just trying to make idle conversation. What an employee for a place to have. He finished off his current drink and flagged down the bartender for another with an easy wave and innocent smile. It was hard to look innocent with freaky eyes, he'd admit, but he did his best. He wasn't bothering anyone, but Scox was pretty good at acting the part when appropriate. There were always people, of course, who could see through that kind of act. Scox liked those people a lot, in the sense that they were harder to win over. And he did like a challenge. He glanced around again and wondered if the jukebox had any good music on it or not. A little classic rock or so would be good right about now. Maybe a little 'Ventura Highway', or 'Take It Easy'. Something mellow. He figured anything too much older either wouldn't be available in a place like this, or would just be to old man-ish. Scox liked to get with the times, but current music was nothing compared to music from around the 50's through the 70's, at least in his opinion.
Escaping the Stench
Submitted by unlucky_irish on Tue, 11/20/2007 - 22:50.Who: Jocelyn and Joshua
Where: Around town
When: Late Afternoon
It would figure that just as Charlotte had gotten Jocelyn interested in discovering if those cats were in fact, demonic, they all ended up dead. Every single one it looked like, from the identical corpses all over the place. The smell was foul, and people were already cleaning up the mess, many with shovels and gloves. The stench, however, would probably linger long after the corpses were gone.
Lately, Jocelyn was enjoying discovering different parts of Marquette, but the cats had definitely taken away her plans to enjoy some fresh air (seeing how there was none), so Jocelyn walked a bit farther, glancing along the shops, searching for a book store, or something just as interesting. She could have went back to the library, but rarely did libraries carry the kind of books on magic she really wanted. Generally they had harmless kids stuff, usually, bunk spells and bogus history from authors named Marigold Moonbeam, or something equally ridiculous. She was just eager to get inside for a bit. It was hot outside and the heat was not helping with the current dead cats lining the streets situation.
Chemistry Overrides Good Sense
Submitted by hunterforhire on Mon, 11/19/2007 - 22:42.Who: Aiden & Eury
Where: Bar/The Island
When: Afternoon
It was about ten 'til three when Aiden left Amelia's house, leaving her a note to his whereabouts. He remembered the name of Eury's antique shop, and found it without much trouble, given the size of the town. He parked out front and got out of his car, throwing his cigarette away quickly. There were still people out and about, though not as many as earlier, and thankfully the amount of cat corpses had decreased considerably. He remembered the cats he had shot himself when they were attacking Delilah, and he hadn't even given cleaning up that mess a second thought.
He gave a glance into her shop before making his way up to where she lived above the shop. He knocked once and waited for a few seconds before knocking again. When there was no answer, he gripped her doorknob and found it unlocked. Being one who made sure to always lock his own doors, and even windows, Aiden was immediately on edge, although he knew he was probably overreacting. Marquette was a small town, and naive people were bound to leave their doors unlocked. Still, it never hurt to make sure everything was all right. He pushed open the door and stepped inside her home, shutting the door quietly behind him.
"Eury?" he called, wanting to make himself known if she was around.
Better than picking up dead cats
Submitted by second_chance on Sun, 11/18/2007 - 22:36.Who: Chance and Open
When: Early afternoon
Where: Lower Harbor Park
After therapy ended, Chance went to see Devon, feeling guilty for not having gone in awhile. Really, he had a summer's worth of time to make up for. So he sat there in the hospital room, like a dumbass, talking about everything that had happened since his last visit. If the nurse is right, if there is a possibility Devon could hear people speaking to him, Chance sort of hoping Devon would wake up just to tell him to shut the fuck up already. Unfortunately, it was just wishful thinking.
After arriving home, Chance had taken the small yellow package that was addressed to him upstairs to his room before his mom could start quizzing him on his session with Doc Elkelson. Inside of the package had been a Dreamcatcher. One that he hadn't ordered. It was pretty cool, but what was he suppose to do with it? The things were bunk. Chance nearly threw it away, but instead placed it on the table next to his bed. He didn't know who sent it, and he felt he shouldn't toss it until he knew it wasn't from maybe Jordan, or even his mom. So he left it there and grabbed his skateboard. It was a hot day, and while his mom mentioned earlier that morning about maybe going out to help clean up the dead cats, spending his afternoon scooping up stinky corpses didn't exactly appeal to Chance.
He rode to Lower Harbor Park, trying to shake off the sun's heat. He had a few problems finding the energy to grind properly, but eventually he fell into a decent rhythm. It'd been a couple days since he'd been on his board for more than just riding from point A to point B and it felt a bit freeing. He worked on the trick Kaysen had shown him - the one he had attempted and had ditched on like a moron. It was much, much better than picking up dead cats who were rotting in the streets, that was for damn sure.
An Icky Day
Submitted by echoinglullaby on Sun, 11/18/2007 - 22:33.who: lullaby and judiel
where: third street
when: mid morning
Lullaby had been woken up by her parents early in the morning, with the issue of there being dead cats all over town. After some confusion, and a few radio announcements about not panicking, they got rubber gloves, face masks, and all three of them trudged out into the heat to start helping with the clean up. They'd helped with their own street, and had started spreading out onto other ones.
Lulu had picked Third because eventually? She'd hit Frosty Treats, and she could get some ice cream or something. It wasn't like it was hard work, but it was too hot out, and the stench was bad, and okay maybe later she wanted to hit the lake. ...which now that she was thinking about it, might have dead cats too. UGH.
Stopping for a few moments after tossing another cat into the back of a city truck, she swiped her arm across her forehead and stepped back, pushing the mask off of her face. There was bottled water and stuff provided by pretty much all the local businesses who were trying to help out as much as possible too--a real community effort. She started glancing around to see where she could get another bottle of water.

"Hey, Aiden, it's Eury! I don't know if you actually meant it when you asked about the tattoo help or whatnot, and if you didn't, then I feel like a big idiot, and please ignore me and this message. If it wasn't, though, want to come by some time? I'm at the shop today, and I'll be helping most of the morning with cat-body cleanup, did you see that shit? No idea what it's about, though they all look the same. It's creepy. I'm rambling. Talk to you later!"
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by praelitismods on Sat, 11/17/2007 - 00:18.Weather: Hot, hot, hot! All day - not a cloud in the sky and hardly a breeze.
Events: As dawn breaks over town it reveals the strangest of sights - those grey cats that have been on the news attacking people? Well, looks like the 'attack' problem has gone away. Marquette is littered with cat corpses - they are everywhere. Very dead kitties in every street and every park. The weird thing? It's not clear at all how they died - it's like they all succumbed to some mystery disease.
One thing that is clear though is that unless the corpses are cleaned up fast, in this weather they're going to rot very quickly...
If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
