Getting Settled

default user pic

Who: Olivia
Where: Venture Motel
When: 10:00pm

The lights over the bathtub shifted and danced above the lapping water. Her hair swam lazily over her face, distorting her view. Olivia counted in her head until her lungs began to burn unbearably and she burst from the water, inhaling deeply as her hands gripped the edges of the bathtub. She needed to quit smoking, seriously. She'd probably only be able to run a block and a half before doubling over. Stupid, delicious nicotine. After wiping the water away from her face, Olivia reached over to turn on the taps, pleased when the steam began to rise immediately. Sighing, she relaxed against the back of the tub and felt herself sinking into the water again.

Jamie pushed open the front door of her house as quietly as possible, peering in. Everything was dark, and everything was silent, save the hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen. She loosed a little sigh and walked in, toeing off her sandals. "Kay, he's gone to bed," she murmured, gesturing Caleb in. "Just be quiet 'til we get to my room. It's on the other end of the house from his, so he won't hear us unless we start screaming at each other."

Well, that helps. We actually do that. Caleb thought with a sigh, but said nothing and nodded, walking in and toeing his shoes off so he could be quieter as he followed her. Cuz seriously, last thing he wanted to do was wake the guy up, and deal with that. He had no idea what they'd be dealing with and that would only complicate matters. Therefore...quiet as a fucking mouse.

Who: Dorian and Eury
Where: Phone Calls
When: Night

Dorian was exhausted. Utterly and completely exhausted. And damn thankful he'd already decided he wasn't going into work the next day. There was one thing left to do though, and that was make sure his paintball partner was still interested in joining him. The store was taken care of and by the time he returned, he'd have been gone for a full three days. Already he was starting to feel better. Picking up the phone, he dialed Eury's number, waiting as it rang.

Eury picked up the phone on the second ring. "Hello?" she asked, pausing as she stirred the pot on the stove, in the midst of cooking herself something to eat.

Who: Dorian and Mathias
Where: Phone Calls, The Happy Medium
When: Early Evening

Dorian sat out in the grass behind his house, leaning up against a tree as he stared at his cell phone. He'd rather be outside than in. The air had cooled, the first hint of autumn on the breeze and fresh air in his lungs. Not dusty, like the bookshop back room. The only thing there to make him uncomfortable was his phone and the call he needed to make. Dorian dialed Mathias' number and held the phone to his ear, waiting as it rang.

He hadn't worked out what he was going to say. Every time he tried, it came out different, but he didn't want to stall any longer. This wasn't something he could put off, as the longer he waited, the worse it would be. He wasn't even happy with the fact that Mathias had left in the first place.

Who: Kaysen and Charlotte.
When: Evening.
Where: Kaysen's house.

The sun was going to set soon, so Charlotte realized she had to suck it up and get it over with. She wasn't at all sure how this was going to go, but she was trying. Trying was good, right? Making sure her hoodie was zipped up, she headed out and crossed the street, nervously knocking on the St. James' door.

Kaysen happened to answer the door, since she was still home alone at that point. She'd been trying to read, though that hadn't worked out for her at all. Mostly, she'd been staring at the same page in her book for like, hours. She'd keep reading the same paragraphs and none of it was sinking in. The equipment Thom had given her sat over on the coffee table like she expected them to spontaneously combust. Whatever was going on, she couldn't figure it out, all she knew was she didn't like it. She just couldn't see where the trap was yet. When the door was knocked at, she paused, frowning suspiciously. Setting her book aside, she walked to the door and opened it, blinking at Charlotte. "Hi, Charlie." she said a little nervously. "Isaac's not home."

So, attached is a list of all the places in town (okay, not all he places in town - I missed off the ones I'd rather starve than order from.) And I separated them out into places that deliver and those that you have to collect from. Hope it's helpful.

Oh, and I had a really great time today. Thank you. :)

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday (in case you forget, I'll be the one wearing the guitar) ;)

Who: Lydia, Eli, Seph, and Syn
Where: The gas station, then the park
When: 4:00 PM

Eli sorely wanted a cigarette. Ironic, because that had been his excuse to get out of the Martens' house in the first place, but now he really wanted one. And there probably wouldn't be time after he'd actually bought the damned things to smoke one. Figured. He scratched idly at the back of his neck, digging in just a little too deep as he approached the gas station. Faint little whispers of thought kept creeping into his head; poisonous little barbs and sweet lies. From her. And they just kept getting louder all day.

'Eli, why aren't you here?' 'No one else loves you like I do.' 'If you think I'm going to let that little bitch get away with this unscathed...'

It was the threats to Syn that had him twitching. He had very few doubts that his mother could ever actually get close enough to Syn to do any real harm (not without getting shot first, anyways), but it still bothered him. Greatly. Enough that he'd been able to resist her calling him all day.

Who: Lullaby and Joshua
Where: Streets of Marquette/Lullaby's house
When: After the movie night at Journey's

Joshua was sat on Journey's front steps as he waited for Lulu to finish saying good-bye. She hadn't asked him to walk her home and he hadn't actually offered but between them they had reached an unspoken agreement that there would him walking her home. Following Lulu's attack, he didn't like the idea of her walking around alone, particularly after dark and so he was going to do his boyfriend duty and look after her. Granted he had no idea if he could deal with something weird or not if it crossed their path but he did tend to know if something bad was gonna happen so worst case scenario, they run like the wind in the opposite direction. Anyway, all badness aside, it would be nice to have some alone time with Lulu. Movie night was a blast but it didn't exactly lend its self to private couplely-moments.

Private coupley moments were on Lulu's mind as well. After her attack and her decision to be pro-active in things(which was why she was doing the necklace thing), she was feeling a bit better. She knew she had to talk to Joshua anyhow, so she was gonna do that. When he walked her home. So after saying her goodbyes, and reminding Journey to behave in a playful sort of way, she walked out to Joshua, smiling up at him sweetly. "That was fun." she said, nudging him along so they could start walking. She took his arm with her hurt hand carefully, so she could still sign. "Thank you for coming, I'm really glad you did."

It was easy to memorize the streets of Marquette. Olivia had nowhere to go, and no place to be, so she spent most of the morning after eating at Mya's Diner walking. She turned left, and then right whenever she felt like it, taking in the details of the quaint houses, the apartment complexes and businesses. There really wasn't much to the town, but that suited Olivia just fine. She had had her share of big cities and their people over the past two years. It was still chilly and her hands were getting cold, despite being shoved in the pockets of her hoodie. It was as she was clenching her fingers to warm them that she looked up to find herself standing outside of a shop that seemed to sell antiques. Olivia hesitated briefly before she stepped inside, welcoming the warmth. Immediately she began to look around, pretending to be interested in the items lining the shelves. She'd stay long enough to warm up, at least.

Eury was in the main part of the shop, putting up a new shelf of odds and ends she'd dug up from the back room. They were all pretty old nicnacks, and really random ones at that. From little kittens to pet rocks, she had quite the little collection to put out. When someone entered, she glanced up, mirrored sunglasses reflecting the girl back at herself. "Hello!" she said brightly, straightening to smile at the girl. "Welcome to Stone Eye Antiquities, how're you?"

Who: Thom and Kaysen
Where: Outside Kaysen's house
When: Late afternoon

Thom had practically bounced back from his date with Leija - which wasn't something Thom did very often, but it had been known. It had gone so well and there was no question that he was going to see her again. Just thinking about it made him smile. He'd headed straight round to Isaac's to tell him, because how could he not? And the guy would want to know! But he didn't get all the way there - stopped by the fact that he saw the pads and helmet he'd sent Kaysen lying out the front of the house. She must have left them there - he hadn't been impressed with their desertion, but it did give him a chance to do what he'd been unable to do before since he'd got them mail order.

Checking there was nobody looking, Thom had collected them up and taken them home. Naturally, his house was empty and he had no disturbances as he set up the circle and walked his way throguh the protection spell that he'd learned last year but hardly ever used. It was slow going - he was far from great at this stuff, but he was getting there and he was careful to ensure that each step was done perfectly. He blinked at the small puff of purple smoke that the instructions stated indicated the spell had been performed properly, before starting his clean up.

Who: Journey, Lullaby, Jezebelle, Joshua, Caleb, Leija, Jamie, Tensiel, and Sandy
Where: Winters/Endleigh house
When: mid-afternoon

There was a reason Journey never threw parties of his own, and that was because he couldn't think ahead. It just wasn't his strong suit, at all. So he'd woken up early this morning and gone into mad scramble mode. Food was easy enough; call the pizza place, beg for enough pizza to feed at least twelve teenagers (just in case!), run to the store and buy as much soda and junk food and popcorn as he could carry, and then throw it all on the kitchen counter. Food, check!

Next he dashed off to the movie store. On a whim, he got nothing but scary movies; Disturbia, American Psycho, Mortuary, 28 Days Later and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Yeah, it was totally mean of him, but nobody had yet to mention the kinds of movies they wanted to watch.

He also happened to know girls were clingy in scary movies (it was yet another law of the universe) and now that he had a girl, well... Scary movie marathon. Totally.

who: Caleb and Jamie
where: Jamie's house
when: mid-afternoon

Her aunt Anne always knew the exact right thing to say about everything. It was just a fact of life; talking to the woman had put everything in almost startlingly clear perspective. Jamie knew what she was doing now, her head was back on straight...

And she was girling herself up (just a little!) for this movie thing. Okay, more for Caleb, really. But wearing strawberry lipgloss and a tiny bit of perfume wasn't a crime, right? Not even for the boy she was mega crushing on.

Of course, that took all of five minutes, so now she was lounging impatiently on her bed, listening to Earshot. Damn if he hadn't cleverly forgotten to tell her what time this thing was, or even if she was supposed to go on her own or if she was waiting for him to pick her up. Ugh, boys.

Who: Dorian and Tensiel
Where: The Lockwood Residence
When: Afternoon

Tensiel had closed Caleb's door behind her, and then leaned against it for a while. Then she'd gone through to her room, to the things she had left behind, and picked up a clean set of clothes before wandering into the shower.

It was only ten minutes gone when she came back out, wet hair hanging in long dark tendrils down her back and to either side of her face. Caleb was asleep just now (she hoped, he had looked so tired) but she wondered if anyone else was home. With an intrigued tug on the shoe lace of her new hoodie, she padded quietly through the house - looking for Dorian.

Dorian was in the kitchen, sitting on the counter as he mended his hand. He'd been stupid to put it off, but he hadn't exactly cared about it at the time. Then other things had come up and they'd come first. Like calling Harper and letting her know he hadn't made it in to work. She had a key, so it really wasn't a problem, but he was supposed to have been there. Instead, he'd had family issues to see to.

Who: Kurt/Natalya
When: Afternoon
Where: Natalya's place

It was around noon by the time Kurt walked his way back up Natalya's gravel driveway. He'd gone out, spent the money needed on a new t-shirt -- also white, like the one he'd had on; he didn't discredit her intelligence -- and cleaned himself up a bit in the restroom of a gas station that he'd walked through very quickly. Then he'd wolfed down a very disgusting white-bread sandwich. It was terrible, but it was food, which he needed. Once he felt presentable again, he decided it was time to face her. The problem was ... Kurt didn't have a story. The bite on his neck was undeniable. There was no hiding it. If it had just been his chest, that would've been different, but ... it wasn't. He knew she would be up, but he tried to be quiet anyway as he walked through the door. He asked himself (again) why he was back at all. It might be better for all involved if he just ... disappeared.

who: Isaac and Dierdra
where: Trowbridge Park
when: early afternoon

At her mother's insistence, Dierdra had skipped the lake today, opting instead for the park. For some reason, her mother had the thought that now that they had settled down in a more permanent manner that her teenage daughter should make friends. And apparently, the lake did not count. The park, Trowbridge Park, she believed it was called, was very nice. But it wasn't the lake, not even close.

It did have a fountain, however. A very nice, big fountain, with clear, cold water. She had settled down comfortably on it hours ago, hoodie pulled up to conceal her from curious passerbys while she ran her hands through the soothing liquid. Anyone looking closely enough would see the water swirling unnaturally around her hand, but thankfully, people were keeping their distance... for the most part.

It was odd; people in this town were very friendly. People kept saying hello as they walked past, and it was unnerving. Blending in was apparently hard to do in Marquette, Michigan, but she was going to give it a try.

Missing Returned

who: ten and caleb
when: early afternoon
where: caleb's room

Noon had gone by the time Tensiel arrived back in Marquette. Both she and her truck were covered head to toe in dirt and dust, her usually pale skin was aglow with an early stage of sunburn, her longish brown hair was tied up in a scrappy ponytail to keep it off her hot neck.

She was also biting her lower lip rather hard with nerves, but telling herself that this was still what she was going to do. Dorian's house was still exactly where she'd left it, and after giving her trusty truck a patting and promising to come out and wash it she walked up the side towards Caleb's window.

She paused and then knocked, the sunlight bouncing off the pane making it impossible for her to see anything but her own reflection in the glass. The knocking was because she had run away, and had given up her right to just come in anymore. It seemed that this was how she should be if she wanted to come back.

Not-A-Date?

Who: Thom and Leija
When: noonish
Where: Park first, then the Pasta Shop

Leija had spent an inordinate amount of time getting dressed. All the while, reminding herself that this was just lunch, they weren't going to prom or anything, and he'd probably decide he didn't like her anyway and it would all be over soon. Still. She settled on a pair of jeans that weren't all worn out and a nice top. It wasn't something she'd wear to church -- if she went to church -- but it was a smidge too nice for school. Well, for her usual school style, so. Lots of hair-brushing and a squirt of vanilla-pear body spray later, she felt ... ready enough, she supposed. She snagged a jacket since the weather felt like it was trying to turn, and left the house. The walk to the entrance to Trowbridge Park was swift and laced with the mantra that he might not even be there and wouldn't that make things a lot easier? But she kept a neutral expression on her face, just in case.

Who: Lullaby and Charlotte.
When: Noonish.
Where: Close to Charlotte's house.

Charlotte had spent a good chunk of the morning unpacking things, though they were mostly done now. She had a few boxes hidden in her closet that she was still procrastinating on, but as long as her mom didn't go snooping in there, she'd be fine. So at the first possible opportunity, she set out for a walk. Valen had to convince her mother that it was perfectly safe to do so, of course, but for once, Charlotte and Valen were on the same side! Creepy. Or at least it would be, if Charlotte didn't know that Valen was desperate to get her out of the house more often so that he didn't have to deal with her as much.

So she set out west on Ridge Street, doing her best to open her mind to any and all of the animals around her. It was a lot more than she was used to, and she found she couldn't open herself up to too much at a time, or it made her head hurt. She wanted to find that cat, though. She tried calling out, mentally, when she could, but she still didn't even know if anyone would actually be able to hear that. Her mom didn't know about this kind of stuff, there wasn't anyone she could actually ask. So, she was just going to have to learn by trying.

Sticking Around

default user pic

Who: Mathias and Olivia
Where: Lower Harbour Park
When: mid-morning

When Mathias left Dorian's house, he didn't really have any clue where he was going. He had no intentions of leaving town - one, because he'd told Caleb he wouldn't, but also, and just as importantly, because to leave now would leave bad blood between him and Dorian and Mathias didn't burn bridges, not with people he cared about. Unless hell was on his heels and he had no choice, he wouldn't be leaving until he'd fixed things with his brother. As he'd told Caleb the night before, his family was everything to him because what else did he have?

Who: Seph and Syn
When: morning
Where: Martens' residence

Seph was up early. For him. Which didn't happen very often. But there it was, he couldn't sleep any more, and so he'd gotten on up. Syn hadn't come home the night before -- which might've been a contributing factor to his not sleeping in as usual -- but that was okay. He'd been the one encouraging her to stay, rather than walk home. She'd been exhausted. And as much as he wanted to curl up with her, he knew she needed to rest more. So they'd just spent the night dreaming together instead, which seemed to placate both of them somewhat. He was currently downstairs in the basement, going through his workout routine. She was on her way back, he could feel it. Sending her a brief head's up as to where he was, Seph threw a quick jab into the heavy bag.

Synnove walked into the house and kicked off her sandals, immediately trudging to the basement. Light was evil. At least there wasn't an over abundance of it today. Not yet anyways. She headed down the steps then flopped down onto the mat there, eyes on her brother. She made a non-word sound at him in greeting, still feeling a bit wrung out. But she was home, and she felt a bit better just for being back where he was. As a general rule, she didn't like spending the night in a building that he wasn't in somewhere.

(Not So) Welcome Back

default user pic

Who: Dorian, Mathias, and Caleb
Where: Lockwood residence
When: 10amish

Dorian found Mathias' note around five-thirty the night before. He'd just returned from the store, planning to cook dinner. Those groceries never made it into the fridge, the bags full and sitting on the kitchen counter. Dinner was never cooked. The laundry hadn't even been started. In fact, the only thing Dorian had managed to finish since finding the note was an entire bottle of tequila. He sat on the couch in the living room, where he'd been for most of the evening and all of the morning. He'd spent a bit of time out in the garage the night before, beating the shit out of his punching bag, but that really didn't make him feel any better and only resulted in bloody knuckles. They were still untended to, the blood dried and caked there, flaking off over the night. The store was supposed to open an hour ago, but he hadn't even thought of it since waking up. It didn't matter at the moment. His brothers were set to arrive home this morning and he'd been waiting.

The sound of a car pulling up to the curb outside signaled the brothers return, the engine being turned off, the noise of a couple of doors banging, footsteps walking up to the door and then the sound of a key in the lock as Mathias let them back in again. "Hello?" he called as they walked in.

Who: Kurt
When: 9 a.m.ish
Where: Regan's house

The first thing that Kurt knew when his eyes fluttered open was that he was not where he was supposed to be. He'd been sleeping on a couch for almost two weeks now, but it hadn't been this one. He stared with slitted eyes at the unfamiliar living room in front of him. The light was very dim, it was hard to see anything, but he knew it wasn't Natalya's house. The second thing he knew was that he hurt all over. Massive headache, aching muscles. He could tell already that he was really weak. Instead of panicking -- which would've been most people's reaction -- Kurt cast his mind back to go over what had possibly happened to him.

He'd been out walking. Restless. Come across a woman. Lovely, in trouble. Regan. Needed a phone that he didn't have, or directions. He'd walked her home. That had been his mistake. The night after that came back in surrealistic flashes. He remembered being overcome by the strongest bout of lust he'd ever experienced. He remembered being on the couch. He remembered pain mixed all up with pleasure. Under the blanket, his fingers crept to his bare chest. He prodded gently around where it hurt; there was definite bruising, and what felt like puncture wounds.

Like what if he doesn't show up? What if I get called during our lunch or whatever? He's going to think I'm fucking insane. And he'll avoid me like the plague and then I can't go to the thing and then all of Caleb's friends will think I'm a freak too and then I've already shot myself in the foot here.
