Rollercoaster: Part Two

Thia was in her room, picking out where she wanted the flowers Maddie had made for her were going to go. She had to hang them upside down to dry them and all, but she had to admit, she'd been really touched by the gesture. It had been sweet, especially coming from a woman like Maddie, who spent most of her time being kind of pissy, in one form or another. So, the fact that she'd made her flowers too, along with Sophie's, that just made her all kinds of smiley.

Who: Hunt and Tad
Where: The high school parking lot
When: mid-morning
This wasn't like Tad, forgetting books and then sneaking out in the morning to break back into the high school to retrieve his history text that he'd need to work on his project with Dean. But then again, having friends and confessing to a girl how he felt about her wasn't much like him either. He realized with an internal chuckle that it had been a while since he'd acting much like old Tad in a while.

who: Dean and Oz
where: their house
when: late evening
The wedding had been lovely. Small, of course, considering it needed to be, but nice. Maddie had looked gorgeous, and Oz honestly couldn't remember Billy ever looking happier. The guy, while he'd always professed being a loner? Was really going to take to marriage well, and sure as hell seemed happy about it. Mostly, all that did was make Oz smile. They'd stuck around for dinner and cake, and it had been nice, but eventually, they'd been kicked out. Being pregnant wasn't killing Maddie's libido, that was for certain.

Who: Porter
Where: Presque Isle
When: afternoon
He was getting better, but he was also getting worse. Better at lying, mainly; it had seemed so easy and natural to tell his mom he was going to hang out with Tad, and all he'd needed to back the claim up was the prop of a videogame controller. She'd given Porter the keys without batting an eye, all friendly smiles and encouragement for him to go spend time with a friend. A friend who wasn't Medea.

who: caleb and porter
where: the streets around his new place
when: late evening
Caleb was out walking around. He had his earbuds in his ears, and he wasn't necessarily paying much attention to where he was headed, truth be told. Mostly, he was getting used to the new neighborhood he'd been moved to. He was a big fan of knowing where the fuck he was at any given moment, just in case. He'd already mapped out how to get to Nic's fastest.
He was also thinking about heading to the orphanage. He'd gone to visit Leija...but she apparently had been taken out. Checked out and he found out after that that she'd moved. He'd gone to her house but it was empty, a for sale sign in the snowbank out front. It left a hollow place in his chest, and he couldn't quite explain why. Possibly the leaving without even a text to say goodbye. He wasn't sure. About all he was solid on was he was probably being an idiot about it, but that didn't really help his disposition at all.
So, feeling fairly strange and weirdly lonely, he was out walking, mentally marking streets down in his mind, just in case.
Nice to hear from you again.

Who: Pandect
When: Morning
Where: cyberspace
Pandect was sitting at the front desk of the Lamplighter, he didn't want to say that's where he belonged. That seemed rather foolhardy. But as much as Marquette got his hackles up, he felt like there was a niche for him there, if only temporarily.
Every once in a while he'd play a quick game of solitaire on the computer, didn't see much other use in the machine, other than for getting mysterious emails. Speaking of which, he opened up the email account and to his surprise the was a new email in the inbox.

I used to keep a diary. I guess I still do, from time to time. I still have the journal - it sits on my desk. So many of the pages are blank. I can't risk them being read, so anything I have to say, anything I need to write down, I do it on paper - and then I burn it.
Curiosity

Who: Dean and Amy
Where: The new centre
When: Around 10am
Dean was feeling a bit of an idiot - that had everything to do with the fact that he was all suited and booted for Billy and Maddie's wedding later on that day. He never felt comfortable dressing up, even if he'd thrown on his combat jacket over the dark suit he was wearing. Sophie had insisted he be all spruced up first thing and he hadn't realised why until he'd done what she wanted, only to be presented with a list of jobs she'd needed doing in town. Well, at least he had a car to get himself around now, which was something. Still, Sophie's jobs were pushing him from pillar to post and he'd been getting them done - at least, he had until he'd seen the new place on the corner of Washington, which had peaked his curiosity enough that he'd wandered inside to look around. This place definitely hadn't been here on Friday, that was for sure.
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by praelitismods on Wed, 08/26/2009 - 09:35.
Weather: Today dawns bright, but it grows increasingly overcast as the morning progresses. A light snowfall starts at around 3pm and continues for the rest of the day, but it's nothing heavy, more pretty than anything else.
Events: The drop in center at the corner of Washington and Third is seeing steady traffic this weekend, as people seem interested in a place that is actually giving definite advice on what is going on in the world, without a religious bent. That has been somewhat lacking in Marquette until now. And the people there seem to be reacting quickly to what they're being asked. Yesterday everything in the center was geared towards the existence of spirits, today the staff are equipped to talk about the possible existence of vampires and werewolves (though there is no written literature yet on any subject other than spirits). The official line from the staff is that those things don't exist, but they are ready and willing to talk about the theory of how to protect yourself against such things if they did happen to exist, and all the staff are remarkably knowledgeable on the subject - anyone would think that they already knew all about them and they'd just got permission to admit to the knowledge or something...
The strange messages also carry on. Anyone who replied to a message yesterday may or may not get another one today, but the messenger is again attempting to contact more people. People who have not yet been contacted, as well as people who previously ignored the message may be contacted. This message will come through a variety of means (all of which are standard, ‘normal’ written channels) – text message, email, chat room, IM etc. In each case, the number/sender remains anonymous. The message is simple: Hello. How are you today? If the person who receives the message does not reply, they will not receive another message.
If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!
