Not the Best of Ideas

Who: Dean and Kathy the radio talkshow host
Where: On the radio
When: Night
Dean didn't often listen to the radio, but he'd got up to check his email and he was trying to catch up on what was going on at the same time, which had meant tuning in to some local station over the net whilst he did other things. He hadn't expected the phone in, but it had caught his attention and he'd listened - and he'd heard the phonecall from whoever the hell it had been - some mother or something raging about werewolves and the school trip. She'd still been ranting when Dean had picked up the phone, furious with some of the things he'd been hearing. Really, he hadn't though it through, at all - because he hadn't actually clued into the fact that as a phone in session, he could end up on air - which was exactly what happened to him as soon as he'd told the poor girl that had picked up the phone on the other end that it was all bullshit.
"Really? You're on the air with WMQT," The woman said, Kathy, the regular dj for the evening. "Please keep your language to on air standards, but please! Tell us why you think so!" she said, sounding a little surprised, but intrigued.
Breaking Curfew

Who: Kaysen and Tad
Where: Kaysen's house
When: late evening
The sun had been setting when he'd arrived at the library, and now that he was leaving it was even later. Tad didn't have a curfew because he'd never had a reason to have one before, but tonight he'd probably end up being accused of breaking it. Instead of pedaling towards Grams, a late dinner and more classic movies, while they avoided talking about what happened on his trip, Tad steered his bike one handed while eating cracker's from his backpack and headed for Kaysen's house.

The past few days have been fucked. Seriously fucked. Went on a school trip, got cut off and attacked by demons. Not the best way to spend a few days locked away with a few people you care about and the potential girlfriend.

Redefining the Student/Teacher Relationship

Who: Tad and Hunt
Where: over the phone / Hunt's House
When: afternoon
Tad had barely registered anything from the whole ordeal once the officials arrived to hustle them out of the asylum. He'd been checked out by doctors and ushered home without another word. Grams had been worried, but she didn't ask him too many questions when he just sat in silence in the car on the way home. They'd asked questions of the officials, but no one had an answer and no one had seemed to care that their teachers and classmate were dead. It was all too fucked up.

Who: Porter
Where: his room
When: evening
There was a faint squeak before the tiny body went still, claws no longer scratching at the palm of Porter's hand. In the wake of the mouse's struggle came just the barest hint of relief; a minute tickle of energy bleeding up his arm and into his chest before Porter turned his hand over and dropped the now-dead mouse into the garbage.
Can't
Submitted by blankslate on Wed, 11/18/2009 - 00:20.
Can't sleep. Can't eat. Can't go for a walk (fuck you too, moon). Can't focus on a page long enough to make two words make sense. Can't practice, if I do 'Stallion Tramples the Face' stance one more time I'm gonna break my own legs.
Can't block out Skye when she got grabbed, feet kicking ruts through the snow and down to dirt, like a kid making a snow angel. Can't stop hearing the way her scream got ripped away, filled in with eating sounds preceding every jet of blood. Can't tell my mom, or anyone. People would think it was werewolves, and I can't let them think that.

Home. Locked in my room. Back to writing lists.
* I'm not good enough
* Defensive isn't enough
*Got to learn to attack
*Shoot
*Fight more
*Black magic?
*What else?
*There's got to be more
I'm not good enough.
EVENT
Submitted by praelitismods on Sun, 11/15/2009 - 10:41.
EVENT: As the night progresses, more and more ‘reports’ of lycanthrope activity are added to the news updates. Alongside the repeated footage of the hostage situation and reveal at a New York TV station, the networks add in some footage newly published on YouTube. It appears to have been shot using a cell phone and shows a girl being attacked in the snow by what appears to be what people now know as a werewolf. The picture is blurry though and there are questions over its authenticity. It is, however, adding to the speculation over whether lycanthropes are as harmless as they are trying to make themselves appear to be.
In Marquette, in the meantime, a local radio station is hosting a call in show about the news. One of the callers is a woman who is clearly very distressed and upset, talking about how her son was attacked by a ‘monster’ whilst on a mandatory school trip over the last few days and he’s now in hospital. She firmly blames werewolves, but admits that her son, though very weak through loss of blood, was raving about ‘demons’. She is convinced lycanthropes are evil. The show doesn’t look into the matter any further, but none of the students on the attacked trip were actually admitted to hospital and the woman caller cannot be traced if anyone tries.

Who: Chloe
Where: Her crappy apartment
When: Just after the Lycanthrope broadcast.
Chloe had been in town since Thursday, mostly hiding indoors. She was miserable and frightened, but sort of coping. Sure, she was too scared to go out in case she was spotted, but at the same time she wanted to look for Drew. She'd been smart and lucky, and acting on impulse had gotten her this far, hadn't it? So now everything was pegged on finding him. Everything.
TIME UPDATE
Submitted by praelitismods on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 11:32.
Weather: Another day of clear, cold weather. The storm at the hospital abruptly ends at midnight, going from white out to settled snow in no time at all.
Events: There is a full moon tonight.
Once the freak storm died away, rescuers were at the old hospital in record time. A team had been on standby since communications had been lost with the school trip, but had been unable to get to the hospital due to the storm. The bodies of the teachers were removed - all teaching staff on the trip died. The students were taken home, having been given appropriate medical treatment if needed. All students were also given the number of a telephone counselling service to contact if they need someone to speak to about anything that went on. No questions are asked about any weapons the students have, and no students are under any suspicion for the deaths of the teachers. Students are urged to call the help line, and they will be contacted with more information as an investigation goes forth. Despite the grisly deaths of four staff members and a student 'missing', those rescued are not questioned heavily on what happened, but are told they will be gotten to eventually during the course of the investigation. If any of the students talk about demons, they are not gainsaid by the rescuers, though they are not encouraged in the belief they were attacked by either demons or non-humans either. Furthermore, nobody can explain the storm - it is clear that one was not expected and it was localised only to the hospital. Everyone is baffled.
None of the other school trips were attacked and all the other students who went to other locations returned home as planned yesterday.
There is a college hockey match being played tonight.
As darkness falls, an armed group breaks into a television station in New York and takes over the live news broadcast. While some of the group stay behind the scenes to make sure that the cameras keep on rolling, half a dozen of them step in front of the camera. Their spokesperson introduces each of them in turn, and explains about their lives. They are all ordinary people, all part of society - a doctor, an electrician, a housewife, a school teacher. She is clearly setting the scene for something, waiting for something. That something is moon rise. And, as the moon rises, the people in front of the camera start to change. Only the woman acting as spokesperson remains 'human' - the rest are lycanthropes of all different types. All are 'born' lycanthropes and as they reach their animal form, their spokeswoman delivers her message - that they're tired of hiding, of pretending to the world that part of them doesn't exist. That they want people to know that they are not monsters, that they are no danger. That they simply wish to be able to live their lives in peace, rather than having to live a lie.
All members of the group are arrested (with animal control on standby 'just in case') as they leave the studios, and they all go quietly. The news broadcast is picked up by various networks and rebroadcast throughout the world, with a varying degree of reality or sensationalism, depending on the channel or outlet.
