Second entry: outside Marquette

I'm no more than a couple hours away from my destination. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite get there before the sun came up, so I'm staying with a vampire named Neil. Anna sent me to him.

A couple of the cats followed me as far as the train. That was kind of touching of them. I couldn't convince either one that the train was safe, though, and I think they went back to James and Anna down by Saginaw. I don't think they'll mind. They seemed to like them. They were quite nice when I came by, and wouldn't let me go stay in a sewer. I'm grateful, because otherwise I'd probably smell disgusting, but I felt bad putting them out like that. Neil isn't as friendly as they were, but he wouldn't let me find a cave or sewer, either, and he let me use his clothes line to hang my wet clothes on. I really don't deserve all this kindness.

I wish I could catch some more news about those cats. All I've heard are rumors from Neil about them being demonic, or something silly like that. That doesn't make sense. Cats aren't demons, they're just cats. I've never heard of real, live demons. But then, I see ghosts and I'm a vampire, so perhaps I should keep an open mind. Official word is that they were diseased, though, which makes more sense.

The sun's been up an hour already. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep, it's so light in here. Maybe I can sleep with the pillow over my head, and that will help. I just need to keep reminding myself I don't have to breathe and won't suffocate.

I just hope Theresa doesn't take it into her head to wake me up three times again tonight. I want to be rested for Marquette tomorrow, and the train wasn't particularly restful. It was wet after the rain, hotter than a car left in the sun, and bumpy and loud, besides. Worse than a subway tunnel.

So I need to get some sleep. Here goes nothing. Will write again tomorrow morning, hopefully from somewhere safe in Marquette.
