After School Ambush
Who: Chrissy & Claire
When: After the last bell
Where: Leaving MSHS
Leaving Kimber and Giselle in her dust, Chrissy headed out of the high school en route to her house. Coming around the corner just outside of the school she caught sight of Claire and couldn't help but smirk at her luck. She'd gotten to torture Kaysen earlier at lunch and now here was Claire all alone like a single deer all alone and unaware of the wolf in the forest ready to pounce. She took the opportunity without a second thought, hurrying towards the girl with all the stealth of a ninja. The art of surprise working for her as she fell instep beside Claire, unnoticed. "Hello, you." she blurted, purposely giving the words a sharp and pointy edge, hoping to startle the girl.
Chrissy succeeded in startling Claire, who jumped at the unexpected voice and dropped two of the books she was preparing to take back to the library on her way home. She shot Chrissy an annoyed look and bent down to pick them up. "Hey, Chrissy." It was a decent, civil greeting and even as she said it, her mind raced with ways to get away from the bitch without resorting to violence. Claire straightened, readjusting the books in her arms and reached up to push a streak of pink hair behind her hair. It clashed with the yellow hoodie and blue and yellow plaid pants, but she didn't really care. Everything had looked bright and pretty this morning since she still had Josh's energy in her - which was also the reason for the sunglasses still perched on her nose. "How's it going?"
Oh how tempted she was to rub the girls nose in the fact that she hardly matched and looked more thrown together than an Amish quilt, but that would wait at least for the time being. "Just smashingly." she replied, her shoulders rising lightly as she all but bounced at the answer to Claire's question. Her curls shook lightly and her dimpled showed as she let a smile waft across her face. "So, Claire... what's got you walking home all alone?" she questioned though the words sounded a lot more like 'Are you really that much of a loser that you have to walk alone'.
Claire smiled back - bright and completely phony. She figured as long as Chrissy was going to project the pretense of being kind, Claire could do the same. For now. "I have things to do after school," Claire told her, lifting the books in her arms just enough for Chrissy to get the picture. Lord, she just hoped she didn't trip and fall in front of the bitch. Her feet immediately began to move more cautiously. Claire glanced over her shoulder. "What's your excuse? Usually the Heathers are all glued to your side every second of the day."
"The Heathers, funny. How cute that you can come up with such a name." she said with a flick of her long curly hair over her shoulder. "Kimber & Giselle are off on their own. I could stand two minutes to hang out with you Claire, now couldn't I. Of course I didn't want everyone to be aware of that fact. After all I do have a reputation to uphold. Can't let everyone see me slumming it." The words were rude and obnoxious and that's how she meant them. Her fluffy bunny attitude only there when she wanted it to be. She knew Claire had nothing to offer her at this moment so what was the point in continuing with the sunshine and rainbows? Absolutely no point, not at all.
Claire didn't bother to tell her that Heathers was from a kick ass 80's cult movie, but she didn't bother. However, something about Chrissy reminded Claire of the blonde, leader of the pack Heather in that movie. The one who was poisoned and died. That had been awesome. "Ouch, Chrissy, that really hurts," Claire deadpanned. Maybe she wasn't overly popular, but she had friends, and some of her friends were people Chrissy had tried to either latch onto or sleep with - total fail on both accounts thank god. "Don't you have some jock to show your back seat to or something? You can show him your best spread eagle move? Or have you been through the football team already this year?"
Chrissy rolled her eyes. "Is that the best you can do Claire? Seriously, Kaysen already tried that one, but of course I had to burst her bubble and let her in on the little fact that the team is far to busy tormenting that loser boyfriend of hers." she countered. She continued to walk along with Claire, mostly to annoy the girl. "Besides, I've got far bigger fish to fry than stinky jocks who haven't discovered soap."
"I don't know. I don't think slut jokes ever go stale," Claire replied with a grin. At least not with Chrissy. She remembered talking to Gabe - thinking Chrissy was like a succubus. It fit. "Besides, what does it say about you that the football team would rather bully someone than have sex with you? Unless they're going on the 'been there, done that' mentality, then I don't blame them." Ha ha. Zing. Claire hated being around this girl. She gave off such negative energy and as much as Claire knew she shouldn't, sometimes Chrissy got to her. And she knew she ought to walk away right now, but she couldn't help but rise to the bait and snap. "I'm guessing by bigger fish you mean you've screwed your way through the acceptable guys in high school and have moved on to the poor, unexpecting saps in college?"
"Oh please, I'm over the guys on the football team, I'm way more into people like Joshua Barclay." she grinned. "Guys my age are so immature, but of course you couldn't even get one of those now could you? Being a slut isn't so bad actually, at least I know I can get it when I want it, from who I want it. Of course you wouldn't have any idea how that feels though, seeing how you can't barely get a friend let alone a boyfriend." A smirk wafted across her naturally full lips, her eyes slightly squinted with the movement.
Claire would have probably taken her bag and lofted it toward Chrissy's blonde curls if she hadn't mentioned Josh's name. She gritted her teeth briefly to calm her temper before her eyes narrowed in Chrissy's direction. "For one thing, I don't want a boyfriend, neither do I need one in order to feel like I'm worth something. And secondly, guys like Josh are too smart to fall for your phony smile and three layers of makeup." At least that's what she was hoping. If he wasn't, Claire was more than ready to school him on the evil psycho whoreness that was Chrissy Chapman. "I think you'd better just stick to the drunken frat parties, Chapman. You'll have better luck there."
"Oh I doubt that." she said with a teeth showing grin, her dimple showing up against her cheek. "I think that's for Mr. Barclay to decide, don't you think? And I never said anything about a 'boyfriend'." she clarified. She could feel the tension Claire's words were trying hard not to convey. Perhaps going after Joshua would be even more fun that she had first believed.
"Well, yeah, good luck with that one," Claire snapped before she shut her mouth and inhaled to calm her temper. She really had no reason to let it bother her. "Given he's just broken up with his girlfriend he might be up for an easy lay, since that's really all you're good for." Okay, she needed to shut up now. Turn and walk away from the bitch before her temper really snapped and she ended up hitting Chrissy. It irked her that Chrissy even knew Josh. Had he dated one of her friends? She'd met him on the school lawn after all, when he said he had been visiting friends during lunch. Only she hoped breaking up with one of Chrissy's friends wouldn't have been that depressing.
She smirked at the girls annoyance. However, growing slightly bored with Claire and her weak comebacks she rolled her eyes and shrugged. "Well, I hate to run dear, but I've got to get some shopping done." she tossed her a quick smile and stopped walking, her curls blowing on the breeze. "Must find something to wear that'll send Joshua over the edge." She grinned again, flashing her teeth and turning on her heels, pleased with herself as she began to walk away from the other girl.
Claire looked around her quickly for something - anything - to throw at Chrissy's head. Her stupid blonde bouncy curls that looked almost neon yellow with Claire's current vision. Stupid bitch. Claire sighed and turned, starting to walk toward her initial destination. She was already pissed with herself for even giving Chrissy the time of day. More so for sinking to Chrissy's level with the insults. But as she walked, her heart stopped racing so bad and a lot of her temper dulled to where she could think clearly without obscenities sprinkling every thought. Josh wasn't stupid enough to hang around Chrissy Chapman. And she really hoped he wasn't stupid enough to sleep with her. If anything, Chrissy could be totally humiliated by Josh's rejection, if it came to that. The thought of Chrissy Psycho Whore Chapman getting turned down - maybe publicly? In front of a lot of people... maybe she'd even cry! - made Claire feel a lot better and with that mental image in her head, she continued on to the library with a smile on her face.
