Who: Aiden and Jules
When: Late night, after Babylon
Where: Phonelines, Jules's House

After getting home from Babylon after only a drink or two, Jules was more than ready to call Aiden. She'd talk to Dorian. She'd find some books. But that had to wait til tomorrow. She wanted information now. Aiden knew things. Maybe she could figure out something from him. So she grabbed her cell from her purse and sat herself down on the couch, dialing his number and listening to the ringing.

Aiden had just gotten out of the shower and was in his room getting dressed when he heard his phone ring. He dug through the pockets of his discarded jeans until he found his phone and flipping it open, he saw Jules's number. He answered it, wondering what the reason behind the call was. "Hey," he greeted. "What's up?"

"Hey... I'm not hurt or anything..." she said, getting that part out of the way first, though her voice did tell him that she was confused about something. "I need to talk to you, and it's kind of important. Or maybe not important, but I still need to talk to you and I don't want to talk about it over the phone and..." Jules realized her sentence was practically nothing but a run on, so she paused and took a breath. "Could you come over please? I want to ask you something."

For some reason anytime Aiden heard 'I need to talk to you', it had an ominous sound to it. He was sure whatever it was, he wouldn't really be wanting to hear. He nearly asked her if she could ask him over the phone, but instead he sighed and ran a hand through his damp hair. "Yeah, okay. I'll be over in fifteen minutes or so." He hung up and stood from the bed to finish getting dressed. True to his word, he was parking in front of her house about fifteen minutes later. Finishing his cigarette, he walked up to her house and knocked. As long as her important question/talk was nothing overly personal, he'd be fine.

Maybe it was personal, or just confusing or a mixture of the two, but either way, Jules needed to talk to someone she trusted, and Aiden was that person. She opened the door when he knocked and let him inside and once they were both on the couch, she glanced over at him and just asked the question. "Do you know what people that work with the elements are?" she questioned.

He stared at her for a second before chuckling a bit and taking off his hat. "Er, yeah. They're Elementals. Fire, water, air and earth... why? Did you meet one of those too? Did they buy you dinner?" he joked, resting his hat on the arm of the sofa.

She bit her bottom lip and shook her head. "Not exactly." she told him. "Do you go after those too?" she wondered aloud. And maybe that was what she was most worried about. Telling him and having that change things. She wasn't sure how to tell him even if she did, but she wanted to know that he wouldn't go after her, hunt her, if he found out.

That was a different sort of question, which prompted Aiden to cock his eyebrow at her and hesitate over his answer. She either knew an Elemental, or something, for her to ask him that. "Jules... I don't hunt for myself. I hunt for other people who pay me a lot of money. If I do decide to hunt for myself, it's because whatever I'm huntin' is hurtin' people, or killin' them, understand? I don't hunt for the hell of it."

She nodded. She could tell him then. "Light a cigarette." she told him. She knew that he'd wonder why or say that he shouldn't smoke in the house, so she told him again. "Just light one."

He sighed and reached into his jacket pocket for his cigarettes. There was a small inkling forming inside of him of what this was about, but he wasn't going to jump to conclusions until he knew for sure. With his eyes on her face, he slipped the cigarette between his teeth and lifted his lighter to it. He inhaled and took the cigarette from his lips to exhale the smoke.

And when he exhaled the smoke, she did like she'd done at the bar. No wind in the house, no draft, but still the smoke flew away from her. Blew in the opposite direction of her as she focused on it. She bit her bottom lip and let out a breath as she flicked her eyes back to his. She was silent. She didn't know what to say so she was just quiet.

It took Aiden a second, but he noted the way the smoke from his lips shifted and went in the opposite direction from where he had blown it. He watched it before his eyes ticked back to her face knowingly. "You're an air elemental... did you just figure this out?"

She nodded. "Tonight. By accident. At Babylon. And I'm kinda freaking out because I have no idea what that means or what I can do or if you'd kill me which is why I asked to begin with..." Jules admitted.

"You were in Babylon?" Both eyebrows lifted in surprise as he studied her face. "Well, I'd think that would confirm it, since that's a supernatural bar. Humans can't find it unless they're with a supernatural. At least, that's what I've understood." Which was why he always had Dorian with him when he went. Because Aiden sure as hell couldn't find it on his own. He didn't know whether to laugh or get angry with her comment about her killing him, so instead he rubbed his hand over his face and returned to smoking his cigarette. She hadn't asked him to put it out yet. "Well, let me get this out there for you right now... I'm not going to kill you, okay?" He looked at her in the face again. "I'm not gonna help you any further with it unless you tell me you understand and believe that."

She didn't tell him to put it out, but she did continue letting the smoke blow away from her. At least it kept her from having to smell the smoke. She watched his face as he talked about not killing her. He seemed so adamant about it that she didn't really have any reason to not believe him. "Okay." Jules nodded. "I believe you." she told him, and meant it. "Further it though?" she asked. "What's that mean?"

"Give you information," he replied with a small grin around his cigarette. "Is that what you wanted? I don't know a lot about elementals but the basics. I think if you want something more detailed, you need someone with more knowledge." Like Dorian. "I know air elementals can manipulate air... some can even change existing weather patterns. Not every elemental is the same though, yeah? Some can do more than others."

"The bartender... Eris, she said to go to Dorian's shop. Read up. Come back." she told him. "I wanted to talk to you first though and going to Dorian wasn't really high up on my list and I don't think I should be like 'hey guess what, I'm totally like an air elemental, help me out?' to a guy who I don't think likes me very much." Jules explained. "But I guess I don't really have a choice, so first thing tomorrow, I'm going to go over there and like... get some books or something."

"Why does she want you to read up and then go back?" Aiden asked curiously. "And Dorian would help you out, regardless. That's just what he does. He's not gonna turn on you or anythin'. If you want, I can go to his store with you... if you'd rather look it up on your own, that's okay too. But he's a good guy. He'll help you out."

"I don't know. She said she could answer questions or something." she shrugged. "She said go to Dorian, 'do my homework' and come back and see her. She seemed pretty helpful. I probably would still think I was totally insane if she hadn't seen me accidentally blow smoke away without... blowing. God that sounds weird.. I'll go, I mean I know you have other stuff to do. I don't wanna make you go with me and have him think I'm a dork that can't do anything on her own. I'll tell you what I find out though? I can do that in the morning because I uh... I have to be back here tomorrow afternoon for the guy who's putting my mirror back up." she said with a little bit of a flush.

"You're going to blush about that now?" Aiden's grin grew bigger, now that he was thoroughly amused by the pink in her cheeks. "If you want to go to Nevermore on your own, that's fine. Just let me know what you find out. Dorian's not goin' to be a dick to you." If he was, then Aiden would have to talk to his friend about it, and he really didn't want it to come to that. "Be careful about Babylon though, would you? Not that there's anythin' wrong with it, but I'm loathe to trust any place that moves the way that place does."

"Well... do you have to always point it out when I blush?! God." she groaned, shaking her head and rubbing her face. "I'll talk to Dorian, see what I can figure out and all that. You should come over tomorrow, I can give you a play by play, we can argue and have hot, nasty, angry sex and break in that mirror again." she smiled.

"Yes, because I think it's cute," Aiden said with a laugh. He reached out and pushed her hair behind her ear. "I don't mind the hot, nasty sex. Maybe we can leave the angry part out of it until the anger is legitimate. Unless you come back and tell me somethin' designed to piss me off or what not."

She flushed again when he told her that her blushing was cute. Blue eyes flickered up to his when his fingers tucked her hair behind her ear. "I don't usually do things to piss you off." she told him. "Most of the time I try to avoid that if I can help it." she smiled. "And it's decidedly not cute to have a red face, thank you very much."

"Nah, red face means that you're not as confident as you like to come across. You've got vulnerabilities too." He stood up from the couch to go to her front door and get rid of his cigarette. "You don't need to freak out about the elemental thing. It doesn't mean you're not human, you know? You've just got a... quirk."

She frowned a little at that and rolled her eyes. "I'm plenty confident." she argued, but let it drop after that. "And I don't know what to think about it. I'm just... like what the fuck, ya know? Here I am freaking out about weird shit and I'm weird shit."

"You're not weird shit. I've seen weird shit, and you are definitely not that," Aiden assured her, shutting the door and returning to the couch. "Hell, you might even think it's cool shit by the time you're done readin' about elementals."

"I can stir up wind inside a house... that's weird." she told him, brushing a hand through her hair and leaning back against the couch. "I doubt I'll think it's cool but at least I'll know what the hell I'm supposed to expect..."

"You don't have to worry about being blown away," Aiden pointed out before chuckling. "Could be worse... you could find out you're a demon, or psychic or somethin' else." Everyone he knew was something else. Everyone. Eury, Dorian, his own sister... shit. He grabbed his hat and set it back on his head. "I think you're gonna be fine once you get some answers. And Dorian'll have 'em."

She nodded. "Yeah, I guess so. Wait, demon? You think I could have actually been a demon? God, could you imagine me a demon? I don't think I have it in me."

"There's a lot of different kinds of demons," Aiden pointed out. "Not all of them are evil..." In his mind, most were. Okay, all were. Except for Dorian. And he was only a half demon. "I can imagine practically every woman I meet as a demon," he said, only half joking. "It's always a possibility."

"Ass." she muttered, rolling her eyes at him. "I'll show you demon, just you wait. At least I know I'm semi-demon-like. I mean, I can make you make some interesting sounds." she teased.

"So you're a succubus?" Aiden retorted before chuckling. "And you make interesting sounds too so..." He shrugged. "What's that say about you? Because I'm one hundred percent human, sweetheart."

"You're such a brat." she told him, but grinned despite the rolling of her eyes once more. "I make sounds because you know what you're doing." She had no problems admitting that he knew just how to touch her. "And don't even let that give you a huge ego or whatever." she told him.

Aiden nodded and stretched his arms above his head. "Yeah, I'm pretty good, aren't it?" He glanced at her and grinned. "I've already got a big ego, love, you should know that. But you can't deny what's true, you know?"

Again she rolled her eyes, but shifted forward enough to catch his cheek and pull his face to hers. She wanted to kiss him and damn it, she was going to. How could she not when he was grinning like that? And he had the most adorable little smile and... well she just wanted to kiss him, so she did. And after a moment she pulled away just a bit and gave him a little nod. "Yeah. Can't deny what's true."

Aiden kissed her back, his hand falling to the nape of her neck to hold her in place until her lips left his. He smiled at her when she pulled back, before lowering his hand away from her. "I should get back home. I haven't really spent any time with my sister in the last couple of days... you gonna be okay on your own?" He knew she would be, but he felt it was still important to ask.

"I'll be okay." she said with a little nod, brushing her thumb over his cheek as she looked at him. "Come see me tomorrow night?" she questioned. "I can tell you all the horror stories of seeing Dorian." she teased, giving him a little smile.

"Sure." He nodded, though he knew her meeting with Dorian wouldn't be as bad as she was thinking. "Call me if he gives you any trouble, and I'll kick his arse," Aiden teased, leaning in again to kiss her. "Good luck, yeah?"

"Mhm." she smiled. "I'll tell ya. He probably won't be that bad. We didn't exactly... kill each other last time, so I'll be okay, but still." she grinned. "See you tomorrow then. Have fun with your sister."

"Just stick to the subject at hand and you'll be fine," Aiden assured her with a small smile. He headed toward the door and pulled his keys from his jacket. "I'll see you tomorrow." He pulled open the door and headed out, reaching for his cigarettes again once he got to his car. He'd have to spend the rest of the night thinking about how Jules was just like the others in his life. Different. Life in Marquette was just getting more bizarre with every passing day.
