Believing in Ghosts
Who: Alexis and Kyle
Where: Phoneland
When: Evening
Alexis peered around the corner, then screamed before jumping back. He was still there, looking in her window, watching. Or waiting. She didn't care which. "Go away!" she yelled, then shut the curtains before backing across the room. Could ghosts walk through walls? What if he came inside? Even with the ghost out of view, she could still seem him in her mind, a bullet hole in the center of his forehead. Alexis picked up her phone, sending off a text with shaky hands. hey, are you busy? i'm home alone, kinda freaking out, and would like some company - alexis
Kyle was currently in his room, playing Gods of War on his Playstation when his phone buzzed. He paused his game and reached for it, noting immediately it was from Alexis. Frowning at her message, he replied quickly. at home. parents being all weird about me staying in. why are u freaking out? everything okay? It seemed like the weird paranoia was spreading to the entire town. He didn't quite understand it.
She jumped when her phone buzzed, flipping it open as she ducked down behind the couch. If she could hide from the ghost, then she would do so, and she didn't think they could see through walls even if they could walk through them. there's a ghost outside my window. it won't go away. It wasn't the kind of thing she'd have said before, but after it being on the news all day she figured he'd have to seen a few ghosts himself.
Okay, that? He hadn't been expecting. Kyle stared at his phone for a second and wondered if she was joking with him. Yeah, that had to be it. ha ha :) dont tell me ur believing whats been going around town? its all some crazy hoax. He hadn't seen any ghosts. And the shit on the news didn't look enough like a ghost for him to believe it. It looked like someone was having fun with their video camera and special effects on their computers.
The response she received almost distracted her from the ghost outside and it certainly made the fear fade, to be replaced with anger. She shot back a response, her lips turned down with a frown. it's no hoax!! the guy had a bullet hole in his head. for real! it's creeping the shit out of me!How could he think it was a hoax? Better yet, how hadn't he seen one for himself? This wasn't a world wide hoax, though if it was, the joke was definitely on her.
Kyle rolled his eyes, not bothering to resist it since she couldn't see him actually do it and get mad. Sighing, he considered setting his phone down and finishing his game, convinced that maybe she was just fucking with him. But that might piss her off too. i think you're just caught up in mass hysteria over nothing. its not real. i havent seen shit with my own two eyes and the shit on tv looks pretty fake. Then again, maybe she was acting up her fear so he would come over, he didn't know.
If everyone in town hadn't been seeing the ghosts, then his 'it's not real' response wouldn't have bothered her. She'd been hearing that from non-believers her whole life and it was nothing new. But to hear it now, when there were ghosts everywhere, for all the world to see, only frustrated her. And angered her. Because how had he missed this! She hadn't realized just how hard headed he was. i think you're blind. if the whole world sees something and you don't, maybe you need to open your eyes. So, that wasn't the nicest of messages. And she didn't expect him to come over now. In fact, she didn't want him to.
Well, that was a shitty thing to say. Er, text. Was she serious? He knew she believed in weird shit from what she'd said in the past, but Kyle had never seen anything weird. And he was a firm believer in wanting to see things to believe them. Getting up off of his floor, Kyle walked to his window and opened the blinds before staring down at the street. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. If there were ghosts everyfuckingwhere, why couldn't he see any of them himself? Where were they? If this was a world wide issue, and Alexis saw them, why wasn't he? There was something fucked up going on - but it wasn't ghosts. Drugs, a hoax... something.
yeah. guess I do.
That was all he could really say. He could tell by her message she was irritated with him, but it was stupid for her to think he would just jump into believing in ghosts when he saw no real evidence of them.
