The Best Medicine.
Who: Amy and Reiz
When: Around Lunchtime
Where: Amy's Apartment
"Of course Mom," Amy said into the phone. She could feel a headache starting, right at the base of her skull, curling, throbbing, pinching.
"Its just with Jupiter the way it is now, and the resort with the surge of guests, it'll just be hard, I won't have any time, you understand, don't you dear?"
"Yes Mom."
"Take care of yourself then, I have to head off before I'm late for my six o' clock aromatherapy session."
"Alright Mom," it helped a little if she kept her eyes closed. She wasn't really sad. Not really really really really... Amy hit the brakes on that train of thought. That was too many reallys. The lady doth protest too much methinks. Me thinks I need to find my purse, Amy thought and hung up the phone and kind of started to tilt over. Where's my purse, I need my meds.
After meeting Amy at the grocery mart, Reiz had followed her home and took all her hospitality and in return, he started to help her around the house. He washed her dishes, and vacuumed around, and was starting to change her burnt drapes in her room. But uh...
He created a bit of a mess by... knocking down her collection of sorts... ...Her... collection of stuffed animals. So right now he was on his knees, scrambling to pick them back up and set them all in the right place again.
Amy was having a hard time seeing. The pain wasn't so bad yet, not as bad as it could be, not as bad as it would be she knew. Everything was spotted and tunneled. This wouldn't do. Where were they hiding? Her purse wasn't that big. Everything tumbled out of her purse in a loud clamor as she turned it upside down on the kitchen table. She grabbed a bottle of something and held it an inch in front of her face, swaying before throwing it over her shoulder. Only Advil, and Advil wouldn't scratch this.
There, there it was, her hand squeezed around the bottle like it was her lifeline, knocking half her overturned purse onto the floor as she stumbled toward the sink. She wasn't above swallowing dry if she had too, but it kind of hurt. The migraine was moving too fast, she couldn't see.
Reiz's head popped up at the sound of... something? falling onto the floor. Curious, and worried, he stepped up from the still messy pile of plush, and stepped out of the room.
Taking a sharp inhale out of surprise, he made his way over to Amy, holding her steady.
"Are you okay?" He asked, in a panicked yet soft tone.
The pain was making her a little panicked and she could hardly see anything. When Reiz steadied her she struggled a little and swung one little fist with a squeak of surprise. Her knuckles went white around her bottle. She had a system for these things but the system wasn't working right now. Something was holding her, she wiggled like a caught sparrow.
Avoiding the fist so it didn't smack him in the face, Reiz loosened his hold on Amy just a little. He observed her for a moment, trying to figure out what was wrong, when he noticed the bottle of pills in her hand... He took one hand off, and untwisted the cap for her.
Amy turned her head toward the sound and took the pill from the bottle by touch and swallowed it down sharply wincing a little. She turned in toward Reiz's chest and tried to burrow in. "Reiz?" she said pitifully, kind of creakily, pushing the medicine down. She clung to him even harder than she had struggled before. Recognizing the scent of her laundry soap on his hoodie.
"...Are you okay?" Reiz asked again, even more softly. he... wasn't sure what to do for a moment, but the first thing that came in mind was just to hold her lightly.
"Don't feel good," Amy mumbled into his shirt. She tried to burrow deeper into his hoodie, he was just about right to block out the light if she could only position herself right. "Pick me up again."
"Oh. Um... okay." Reiz was happy to comply with any of her requests at the moment, and scooped her up gently. He... felt kind of awkward just standing there, so he started to make his way to her room, where she could lay down.
"Turn offa lights," she muttered. His neck was the perfect shape to hide her eyes in, the ground was moving, no Reiz had lifted her, and Reiz was moving. He smelled kinda nice, like a guy smell.
Her head hurt, her thoughts were flitting away like birds.
Reiz got close to the light switch, elbowing it to off, before laying her down on the bed. "You should sleep."
"No!" Amy dug her hands into his hoodie as was set down. Wanted Reiz. Smelled nice. Head hurt. "Stoppit. Want you to carry me."
"Ah... Sorry..." Reiz wasn't used to carrying people around, but... If that's what she wanted...
He scooped her back up, not really sure what to do now.
"Sleep here," Amy said against Reiz's neck, scrubbing absently at the tears that were starting up. "Smell nice," she added for good measure. It was nice to be held, Reiz was just the right size for carrying Amy sized people.
"Uh... ah... okay..." He slid onto her bed, sitting up with his legs stretched out, and well... with an Amy in his arms.
"Okay," Amy agreed. She was starting to feel a little better now, the sleepiness was helping. And the Reiz was helping, she liked the Reiz. The Reiz was nice. The Reiz was lovely. "Are we on the bed now?"
"Yeah." Letting an arm drift away, Reiz still kept one on her so that she wouldn't just flop on the bed.
Amy liked the arm around her shoulders and that she had a Reiz to curl up against. He was warm and solid and he wasn't going to leave. "Okay Reiz. Love you. Is the light out?"
Reflexively, Reiz nodded, but caught himself and stuttered out a 'yeah.' He paid no attention to other parts of the sentence, just figuring that this was Amy being Amy.
"Good, I don't like the light sometimes when I have a hurt head. It hurts some times. My mommy doesn't want me," she sniffled pathetically into Reiz's neck, feeling to sick to care about appearances.
Reiz nodded along, feeling maybe... a little awkward. He wasn't any good at helping people. There were only two people who'd really ever smothered him with love and tried to cheer him up and... a tad jerkedly, Reiz started to rub her back comfortingly, eventually relaxing into a more smooth movement.
"Why do you say that?"
Nice, liked back rubs. Amy scrubbed her face on Reiz's hoodie. "Doesn't want me to come see her anymore. You still want to be my friend Reiz?"
"Of course..." Reiz liked Amy, she was nice to him, and she was always so cheerful and there was just this... pure quality to her. Like, everyone else in his life had been... tired and worn out, and he was getting tired of that.
"Good," she made a motion to kiss his cheek, not quite getting there, but it was the thought that counted. "Cause your my best friend," she yawned hugely into his hoodie before resettling with an arm to keep her steady around his neck. "You love me too?"
"Um... Yeah." To be honest, Reiz wasn't sure if he loved Amy just yet, but he did like her a lot. She was a nice person, and nice people should be loved.
"Good," she muttered at him and settled in for a long winter's nap. "Night Reiz."
