Bruised
Who: Kavin and Jerilyn
When: approx. 11pm
Where: Kavin's house
Jer stepped onto Kavin's porch. She was shaking, physically shaking, and she had to take a deep breath in, and back out, to slide Kavin's spare key into the lock and let herself into his house. It was possibly not the brightest thing she could've done - he'd shown her the fact that he had weird little weapons pretty much everywhere - but if he was in a good, deep sleep so much the better and he could stay that way. Though Jer didn't make any real effort to keep quiet when she tossed her backpack onto his couch and started pulling off her shoes.
Kavin had went to bed shortly before that. He wasn't a heavy sleeper in the slightest and as soon as the lock turned in the doorknob, he stirred and sat up in bed, listening as the door opened, closed again and the back pack hit the couch. He raised a brow, climbing out of bed silently. He didn't make for a knife just yet, the person had a key. Only his father and Jeri had one and Nate knew where to find one if he needed it. He slowly padded to his bedroom door and slid it open just enough to see Jeri down the hallway.
He raised a brow as he walked out, not bothering to grab a shirt. He remained in his boxers and gave her a confused look. "What's wrong?" he questioned.
"DVD player's being a bitch. Wanted to use yours." Jer mumbled, kind of glad that he couldn't see her face in the dark - and because that side was turned away from him. It was already purpling and swelling and it hurt, along with her forearm on the same side. "I'm going to borrow a bag of frozen whatever vegetables you have in the freezer, too." And she padded her way to the kitchen in her socked feet, kind of hoping he'd go back to bed and let her sleep on the couch.
She could hope all she wanted, it wasn't going to happen. He rubbed his eyes as he followed after her into the kitchen and flicked on the light. She still wasn't facing him with her head shielded by the refrigerator and he wasn't really paying attention to her arm. He moved around her though, leaning against the counter. For a moment at least, until he saw her face and his eyes went a little wide.
His fingers found her chin and he turned her head so he could get a better look at her. "Jeri..." he said softly. "Why..." He didn't even finish his statement. Instead he grabbed a package of frozen peas and pulled her body against his, nudging the freezer door with his elbow and lightly pressing the bag against her bruised flesh.
"Ow! That's cold!" Jeri protested, though she didn't push it away. It hurt and felt really good at the same time, and it was appreciated. Of course, this left her glasses fogging up because of the proximity of the cold stuff. She squinted at him, and winced as the movement pulled painful skin on her face. "Hi." That last part might've been rather unnecessary, but she didn't know what else to say. "How was your evening?"
He saw the fog moving across her glasses and he pulled the bag away from her face, setting it on the counter long enough to remove them. Then the bag was returned to her cheek and he let out a little sigh. "What happened?" he questioned, the tone of his voice conveying every ounce of anger he had in his body for her father. What kind of man hits a girl? Let alone his own daughter.
"Hm. I told mom that we were dating. She informed me that at least I was finally doing something right in my life, asked me if I was on birth control. I said yes. Either she told dad, or dad overheard us, because about an hour later or so, he demanded I stop sleeping around and being a slut because if I wasn't why would I need birth control." She touched the bag of frozen peas and kind of cringed. "Should've seen that one coming, really."
If she wasn't hurt, he would have yelled at her for that. "You don't have to 'see it coming'." he muttered, keeping his voice soft. "You shouldn't have to worry about what you say and don't say. He doesn't have a right to put a fucking finger on you, you understand me?" Kavin wanted to get dressed and go over there, let her father know exactly what was on his mind.
Jer visibly flinched back from him, just a little bit but she still did it, and she nodded sharply. That hurt, too, but she ignored the pain that time. Jerilyn really couldn't help the little flinch, though. Sometimes the quieter someone got, the more angry they were. And Jer'd already had one major fight tonight.
He caught her flinch. "I'm sorry..." he said softly, pulling her body back against him and lightly pressing the frozen peas against her face again. "I just... I'm not mad at you, baby, I just... you're dad... he's so... I just wanna punch him or hit him or kick his ass or something. I don't know what to do..." he sighed, brushing his free hand through her hair. "I'm sorry."
"Just... gotta remind myself sometimes that I don't have to be there much longer." Jer mumbled against his shoulder, since she really wasn't interested in leaving said shoulder. He was very comfortable like this. "It probably looks worse than it is," she tried to reassure him. "It's okay."
"You staying here tonight?" he questioned as he slowly pulled the bag away from her face and tossed it back into the freezer. It was more of a statement than a question really. "I can run you a bath or something. I don't really... I don't really know what to do..." he admitted.
"Yeah. I mean, I know I shouldn't have since you probably have a threesome going on with those French twins we were discussing - and I knew they couldn't keep their hands off of you, what with them being imaginary and French - but I kind of just couldn't stay at dad's house tonight." Jer bit her bottom lip and looked up at him. Well, the somewhat fuzzy blob of skin colored sphere that was Kavin, anyway. "If you don't mind. I can go to a hotel or something, it's cool."
"Don't even." he said, shaking his head. "You know better. You can stay here. I'm gonna go run some bath water for you and be ghetto and put some shampoo in since I don't do the whole bubble bath thing, okay?"
Jer smirked slightly - it was kind of painful to look at, considering she had recently a bag of frozen peas on her face. "That's a step up from ghetto. Ghetto is using dishwashing soap. Works great, too, and comes in all sorts of scents."
Kavin chuckled lightly and lead her back through to his bathroom and sat on the edge of the tub, putting the stopper in and letting the water run. He did like he said he would and squirted the shampoo into the tub then let it fill. "You sure you're okay?" he questioned.
Jer leaned against the doorframe and nodded with a tiny little half smile. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm actually doing better then before I got here." She paused. "Sorry for randomly breaking into your house."
"It's not breaking in when you have a key." he smiled, getting up from the edge of the tub and walking over to her. He brushed her hair away from the cheek that wasn't bruised. "Can't I just like... kick his ass or something?" he asked. "If I can take on werewolves, I doubt your dad would be that big a problem."
"It's the whole 'randomly assaulting someone is against the law' thing that concerns me, not whether or not you could take him. I mean, Jesus, the man's probably so drunk he can't walk right now. I'm not worried about that aspect of your safety." Jeri said dryly, before she hooked her hands under the bottom hem of her shirt, and she raised an eyebrow at him primly. "Avert your eyes for the sake of your purity."
"Purity?" he rolled his eyes, but did as she asked, though reluctantly. Didn't really matter though, he still had the mental image from the last time she'd pulled her shirt off in front of him.
"Purity, innocence, that mental virgin-ness since I totally know you don't do things like fantasize about ladies." She smirked at him and pulled off her shirt - there was a forming bruise on her shoulder, too, and what looked like a handprint on her arm by her elbow on the right side, where all the bruising was on her face. Jeri ignored them, though. She saw things like that often enough. "You're much too sweet and cute and young for those kinds of shinanegans."
Kavin bit his bottom lip and fought back the urge to just turn his head and look at her. So he closed his eyes to keep any accidental glances from occurring. "You're evil, you know that right?" he told her. "Come to my house in the middle of the night and get naked and then not let me look. So unfair."
"Yooou've seen me without my top. The rest is still a mystery. Argue with that." She said smugly while she stripped the rest of the way and got into the tub before he could take a peek.
"I will." he said, eyes opening as soon as he heard her sink into the tub. "I plan on sitting right here until every bubble disappears. Argue with that." Kavin told her as he pushed himself up onto the counter.
"Pervert." She said mildly, settling back and starting in on scrubbing. Hard enough to turn her fairly pale skin pink, anyway - like she was trying to wash away something sticky and gross off herself. "At least go find something comfortable to sit on, or you're going to end up falling into the tub."
"Like you'd complain about me falling in. You'd probably laugh." he told her with a little smile. "And for the record, I am not a pervert. I'm your boyfriend. I'm supposed to want to see you naked. Think of it as a compliment. Don't you wanna see me naked?"
Jeri gasped theatrically and sank deeper into the water. "No! You'll give me cooties."
"Right... and you got on birth control for what reason then?" he questioned as he stood up from the counter and let his hands move to the waistband of his boxers. "I should flash you just because you said that." he threatened, lowering the material ever so slightly.
Jer raised an eyebrow at him and grinned slightly, and she hid a wince. "Somehow I don't feel particularly worried that the site of your manly bits there will turn me to stone, so I don't think this is going to be a particularly painful punishment."
Kavin's expression mirrored Jeri's. Slightly raised brow and a little grin on his face. "Who said it was a punishment? Maybe I just wanted to prove by your reaction that you actually wanted to see it. Judging by that grin, I kinda think you do."
"Tsk. Your perverted brain is making you see things that aren't true!" She laughed softly and ducked her head under the water for a moment. She came up, hair wetted down and water in her eyes. Jer used her fingers to brush the liquid away so she could see (sort of) again. "You're such a teenage male, Kavin Reid."
"Well, I'm a guy and I'm a teenager." he shrugged. "Guess that's what I'm supposed to be." Kavin smiled, releasing his boxers again. "I'll just never let you see it instead. Works for me. Doesn't bother me a teeny little bit." He couldn't help the smirk that moved across his face as he moved back to his seat on the counter by the sink.
Laughing, she gathered up bubbles (leaving quite a few in certain strategic locations) and blew them at him. Of course, bath bubbles didn't fly like the kind you get with a bottle and one of those bubble-wands, but a good many managed to at least come close to Kavin. The majority, however, ended up on Kavin's poor, abused floor. "You're just jealous you don't have boobs."
"If I had boobs, I wouldn't need you now would I?" he teased, giving her that patented grin. He tried not to stare at her, but who could blame him. Girlfriend. Naked. Bathtub. Teenage boy for heaven's sake. What was he supposed to do? Be the perfect gentleman and not look at all? Turn his head away? That just wasn't going to happen. He bit his bottom lip as eyes trailed over territories of her body covered with soapy suds.
"Oi, move for a sec." She shooed him away from the sink, and angled herself up so she could see herself in the mirror. Musingly, she turned her face this way and that. Not that she could really see herself in the mirror, just the general shape of her face, edge of the tub, etc. "If it weren't for the 'I was beaten' thing going on, this would be an awesome cheesecake shot."
"You're a goof, you know that?" he questioned, hopping off the counter once more and walking over to the tub. "Ya know, sometimes I think you only like me for my bathtub." he told her as he sank to his knees beside the tub. "That's what it is isn't it?" he smiled, reaching out to tuck some of her hair behind her ear, carefully avoiding the bruising.
"Damn straight. It can't be for your awesome good looks, considering the fact my glasses are still in the kitchen." She paused and nudged his hand with her forehead lightly. "And all those things that people like, like intelligence, sense of humor, kindness? Psh." She picked up some suds and dotted his chin with them. "Not for me, thank you verra much."
Kavin let out a little laugh and wiped away the suds from his chin. "Goof." he stated as he took her chin in his fingers and tipped it upwards just a little so he could press a light little kiss against her lips. He smiled when he pulled away. "Yeah, well.. I only like you because you get naked." he teased.
"Oh good. At least you like me for my looks and not my mind." Jer said in a rather smart-ass way. But she kissed him back. "Didn't your other girlfriends get naked? How did they shower?!"
"Smart ass." he muttered, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. "One, I didn't have much time for girlfriends. Two, yeah, they got naked, but not in front of me. I'm not exactly a slut or whatever a guy slut is." he pointed out.
"I think it'd be a 'man-slut'." Jer said thoughtfully, then raised an eyebrow at him. "What about those French twins, hm?"
"There aren't any French twins." he chuckled. "You made those up, remember? They're to keep me company since my girlfriend doesn't find me attractive." he smirked. "Maybe I should go hang out with them now. Get some tension relieved."
"Man, kill my fantasies of having a foursome with you and the french twins." Jeri muttered, trying to sound a little sulky. But she didn't succeed very well in that particular endeavor. "If you need some time with the french twins, go, go. I won't stop you. Use a condom so the twins don't get cooties."
"Brat." he said with a shake of his head. "Didn't know you were into threesomes." he smiled. The smile didn't last long though, it flickered and dimmed and faded completely with a simple thought of Nate. He silently wondered if it was cheating. Wondered if he should tell her. But he kept quiet.
"Well, I've never had one. How should I know if I'm into them or not?" Jer pointed out cheerfully, since she had no idea what was going through his brain. "Besides, the french twins don't count because I made them up, remember?"
He nodded. "Yeah." he said softly, brushing a hand through his hair. "Guess that makes sense."
Lazily, Jer cupped some water in her hand and splashed it on top of Kavin's head. "You're getting thoughtful. Quit it and get me a towel."
"Just had to get me wet didn't you?" he questioned. "See now, I might just have to get in with you since I'm already halfway soaked." Kavin grinned.
"The hell are you talking about, 'halfway soaked'?" Jer demanded goodnaturedly, while she cast her hand around for something to hold onto that wasn't Kavin so she could stand up and get out of the tub. "It was a handful of water and I don't have man-hands."
Again he bit his bottom lip, glancing up at her as she got up from the tub. He stood then too and walked over to grab her a towel, handing it over and blushing furiously, having not expected her to stand just yet.
"You turned red." Jer observed while she squinted at him, taking the towel and wrapping it around herself before stepping out of the tub. "Are you going to do that every time I get naked? Because seriously, if you are we might need to get you a blindfold or something for the whole sex thing."
"No... I'm not." he told her, shaking his head and running a hand through his hair. "Just wasn't expecting you to. You acted like you didn't want me to see you naked or something and then you just stand up and... yeah.. uh... yeah..."
"It's just a body." Jer said, then frowned. "I'll stop doing it though."
"No." he said a little bit faster than he meant to. "I just... I don't know. I..." He couldn't keep the blush from running over his cheeks and firing up across his neck. He leaned in and kissed her then, pulling barely a fraction of an inch from her lips once he had. "When I see your body... I just... wanna do stuff... that's all." he told her honestly. "Doesn't mean I don't want to see it."
Jer gave Kavin a little half smile that was completely devoid of humor after he'd pulled away. "I'm not really up for it tonight. I'm sorry Kavin, I really am, but..." She blushed a little. A little bruise, and she was wussing out. Nice. Why the hell does Kavin even like you...?
"I never said you had to." he told her, shaking his head. "Especially after what happened. Just... explaining I guess..." He brushed her hair away from her face and kissed her forehead lightly. "Got clothes to wear or you wanna borrow a shirt or something?"
"Do you have a t-shirt I could borrow?" Jeri looked hopeful. "I kind of came over in a rush and I wasn't really thinking. Dumb of me..."
Kavin nodded and left the room long enough to grab a t-shirt from his dresser. He handed it to her and brushed his fingers across her cheek. "I think that'll cover everything." he promised. He was taller than her so he assumed it would.
"Thank you." She took the shirt and set it on the counter where he'd been sitting. "Now shoo. I need to put it on and you need to maintain that innocence of yours." And she made little shooing motions towards the door.
He rolled his eyes, but left like she'd asked, heading into his bedroom and turning down the blankets. Once she emerge from the bathroom, he gave her a little smile an sat down on the edge of the bed. "You feeling better?" he questioned.
"A little." Jer admitted, and wandered to the bed, feeling with her toes for anything that might be in the way. She pulled back the covers and climbed into the bed, because bedamned if she was going to wander to another room or the couch tonight. "Exciting day, huh."
Kavin shifted enough to lay beside her, pulling the covers up around her and resting his arm over her middle. "Yeah." he said softly. Exciting didn't really even cover it. Learning Gabe was a werewolf and then the crap with Jeri's father. "I wish I could do something..."
"There's not, really." She ran a hand over his hair lightly. "Just... be you. You're really great that way. So stay that way."
"You know I'm here if you need me..." he told her. "For anything. Doesn't matter what time..."
"I know." Jer kissed the tip of his nose. Well, tried. She got his cheek instead. "And you know I'm around for the same, right? I'll even take a first aid course if necessary in case you argue about going to the doctor again. That way I can say you should go in a more authoritative voice."
He chuckled a little, shaking his head. "Well, maybe you should actually." Kavin smirked. "We could play doctor. Don't think I'd mind it that much."
"I bet I could find a doctor's white coat from some costume shop..." Jer said musingly, then she playfully frowned at him. "What the hell, Kavin, making me as perverted as you. You're a horrible influence. I don't know how you managed to keep the twins."
"You know you love it." he grinned, brushing his hand across her hair slowly.
