Can flowers fix everything?
Who: Lucius & Marlowe
When: 8:30pm
Where: Marlowe's house
Lucius found himself in front of Marlowe's house pacing and contemplating whether or not he should even bother going up to the door at all. His fingers were clutched around the vase of wildflowers he'd gotten at the flower store so tightly that his knuckles were slowly turning white. He sighed and let all of the events from the day wash through his body hoping to let everything just drift away so he could talk to Marlowe, hopefully getting somewhere without being more of an ass. He was the one that hurt her, he'd been the jerk and walked away, he was the one that didn't listen to what she had to say before flipping out. It was his job to fix this.
He sighed and turned towards the door, finally gathering up the courage to climb the steps to her porch and knock. He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment as he waited for her to come to the door, half expecting her to look out the window, see him and completely ignore that he was there. Letting his eyes flicker open again, he stared at the door.
She very well may have answered the knock, but as luck would have it Marlowe wasn't inside the house. Instead the red head was in the back yard with her boys, Marlowe sitting with her legs pulled up to her chest. arms wrapped around them with her chin resting lightly on a knee, on the bench on the back porch while Roarke and Rogue had the run of the yard. Marlowe realy wasn't paying all that much attention to the animals, but rather was caught within her thoughts. So much so that she didn't notice the two dogs wander over to the gate to sniff the air and give a couple short barks.
Lucius sighed and sat the vase on the porch, thinking about plopping himself down and waiting for her to give in and open the door, but the sound of barking caught his attention and he left the flowers sitting while he walked around the house. As he reached the gate he saw the dogs and a smile crossed his face. "Hey you guys..." he said reaching over the fence to pet them, that's when he glanced up to see Marlowe staring off into nothingness. "Marlowe?" he called out.
"You can come in." She returned softly though didn't attempt to cast a look his way. She wasn't really much up for talking, but neither was she going to send him away. They needed to talk, the messages Lucius had left on her voicemail was evident enough of that. Try and fix things if possible.
He opened the gate, careful to keep the dogs from getting out and closing it behind him. He walked over to her and sat down, careful to give her enough space. He wasn't about to push her into anything. "You okay?" he questioned softly, flicking a glance in her direction and then slowly looking away.
"Why do things have to change." She sighed with the words. Everything in her world had been going good, then it all seemed to drop out from under her feet. Lucius walking away when she told him about what she was capable of, and now Brian was leaving town. She felt like she was losing the people that had mattered most to her, not that she could fault Brian for leaving. Not with his family being behind that reason. Still it all had her feeling down and wallowing in her emotions at the moment.
Lucius shrugged and heaved a sigh, his gaze returning to Marlowe. He raised a hand to brush her hair away from her face, but dropped it before it made contact. "I don't know..." he muttered, unsure of what he could possibly say to the girl. His life too had changed dramatically in the last week or so. Ever since coming into Marquette. He'd figured out he had 'powers', he'd battled with shadows, had a man fall in love with him and a woman, made friends... and now with Hannah leaving, was losing them. But the thing that changed the most was his relationship with Marlowe, the one thing he'd hoped would be the stability he needed in his life. "I just came by to tell you... that I'm sorry. Again..." he let out another sigh and again averted his gaze from her. "I didn't want us to change..."
"Do you ever think we moved too fast?" She asked with a slight turn of her head so her cheek laid lightly against a knee as she looked over to him.
He shook his head at her question. It was the one question he was completely sure of at that moment. "No." he replied. "If there's one thing I don't question... the only thing I don't question... it's being... it was being with you." His eyes returned to her then, locking with her brown ones. Eyes he'd missed seeing. "I don't question us. Not one bit."
She gave a weak smile at that. "It always felt right, even if some thought we were moving too quickly. I never once questioned any of it." Marlowe said as she kept her eyes focused on his.
"Do you question it now...?" he queried. He didn't let her answer before he went on, he'd came here to talk to her and damn it, he was going to say what he needed to say. "Mar... I know I shouldn't have walked away and I've been kicking myself for it ever since... The whole thing just caught me off guard and I didn't know how to handle it. The thing I love the most and the thing I hate the most being connected in some fashion was just... a little more than I could deal with and I wanted to just walk and get it out of my head and think and... I'm an idiot because I walked away from you. I love you. Everything about you. And knowing that I fucked that up is killing me." He let out a sigh, his blue-green eyes already puddling as he blinked to keep the tears from flowing. "I just wanted you to know that..." he said before turning his face away from her again.
"Everytime you walked away I got choked with this fear that'd it be the last time I'd see you. That the good thing I had was only fated to last a short time. I knew it would be hard for you to hear, and deep down I kind of knew you might need your time to digest things, but all that didn't drive away that fear. God." She sighed with a blinking away of the tears that threatened. "I love you so much that sometimes it hurts, and I don't ever want to lose that, or you."
He turned back to face her again, his hands not listening to his brain as the moved to her cheeks to keep her eyes locked on his. "I wasn't walking away from you..." he breathed. "The first time I walked away because I didn't want you to get hurt... I thought that me being around and the shadows going after me was just putting you in danger. I didn't want to be the reason that you got hurt. I didn't want to run the risk of losing you. And I walked away to think at the cabin. I just... I needed to process things, it was just... out of nowhere. I love you, I don't want to lose you." His jaw clenched slightly as he swallowed air and again his tears brimmed at the corners of his eyes.
"And you can live with...with what I can do?" Marlowe searched his blue-greens with her soft browns. She wanted to know that without a doubt he could live with, or at the very least tolerate her ability with fire.
"Baby..." he said with a slight laugh. "I don't even honestly know what exactly you can do. I heard fire and everything else kinda just rolled around in my brain. But that doesn't matter... it's you I want, regardless of what you can or can't do. I want this... us to work." He shrugged a little and brushed his hand back into her hair and moved his face a bit closer to hers. "If you'll take me back... I can live with anything..."
"I don't want anyone else." She breathed. The short gap between them bridged slowly until her lips brushed lightly against his with a soft sigh.
He closed his eyes and leaned more into the kiss. It was as if his off axis world had finally fell back into place and was spinning around the sun again. He didn't break away for a long moment and when he finally reluctantly did his lips upturned slightly in his familiar smile. A real one this time, unlike the fake ones he'd been passing off since their fight. "God I've missed you..." he whispered, his hand brushing across her cheek again.
"I've missed you." She let her lips brush lightly against his once more before Marlowe drew back slightly to lean against his side and let her head fall ever so lightly to his shoulder. She may have thought before Lucius' arrival that she wanted to be left alone, but now she knew that to be not true. She was glad he was there. The comfort he didn't know he was giving her was much welcomed by the red head.
He remembered the flowers on her front porch then. "I brought you something..." he said softly, letting his head lean against hers. "I was just going to leave it for you because I thought that you were still ignoring me."
"What did you get?" She inquired lightly. She wanted to know, yet she didn't want Lucius to move from where he sat beside her to go fetch whatever gift he had brought for her. At least not yet.
"Flowers..." he told her as he shifted slightly only to let his arm drape over her shoulder and urge her closer to him. "I ran into your friend Isabella... in some weird off-chance way and she told me that I should try flowers. So I did."
Marlowe gave a light chuckle to that. "That's just like Isa." Not that she was complaining in the slightest. It had been quite a while since anyone had gotten her flowers of any variety.
He smiled at the sound of her laugh. It was nice to hear the sound again and he hadn't realized just how much he'd missed it. "Okay... I hate to sound like an idiot, but I kinda want to know like officially and out loud that we're okay so my brain can stop working on ways to try and win you back..." he mumbled.
"I don't know. I think I might like that." Marlowe snuggled a bit closer to him. "See what kinds of ways you can come up with to try and win me back." Though he had never really lost her, they just seemed to have gotten sidetracked from each other for a little bit.
He shook his head a little at that. "I'm gonna take that as a yes." he told her, his fingertips brushing across her hair. "I think I annoyed Ivan and Hannah to death every time they talked to me..." he said with a little smirk, but the smirk slowly faded as he remembered Hannah's phone call. He let out a slight sigh at that thought.
"You ok?" Marlowe questioned with a slight cant of her head upward so her eyes fell upward to his features. "Did you annoy either of them a bit too much?" Curiosity setting in as to what could have brought about his sigh.
He couldn't help but let out a laugh at that. "One, Ivan's a nice guy, but I'm strictly on the girl side of the fence, thank you. And Hannah... she's my friend, that's it. Okay, I hugged her, once. But she helped me clean up Ivan's house so I owed her that much." He didn't let her say anything before continuing on with why he'd sighed. "Hannah's leaving town. She's got some family stuff going on and she has to leave and it's just... sucky I guess. I'm not the best at making friends and now that I do make some, one leaves."
"Brian's leaving too." Marlowe said with a heavy sigh. He had been there earlier in the day to tell her just that, and though she had had that knowledge with her for quite a few hours now, it didn't have her feeling any better at the thought that she wouldn't see him on a daily basis. And then there were the movie nights they had at least twice a month. Damn if she wasn't going to miss him something terrible. It was with that thought that Marlowe leaned snugly into Lucius' side letting her head once more drop gently to his shoulder.
He sighed and wrapped his arms around the girl, hoping that in some way she'd find it comforting. His brow furrowed slightly in thought, hoping that something more would come to him so he could make her feel better about losing a friend, but in truth, he couldn't even comfort himself about losing Hannah. "Well I'm still here... and I'm not going anywhere." he promised, kissing the top of her head.
"For the night?" She didn't know what had possessed her to say that, but there the words falling from her lips. Maybe it was a subconscious need to have a comforting soul with her through the night, whatever it was it was now out there and not able to be retracted or played off as meaning something else. Teeth grasped lightly at the lower edge of her lip to gnaw at it gently.
"If you want me here..." he replied. He wasn't about to force her into letting him stay, but that didn't mean that he was all that ready to leave her side either.
"I just...just for the night." Marlowe knew her words were a bit rambled with not much sense, but she couldn't get her complete thought out. She just wanted him there to hold her, like that first night they spent together in his room at Beacon House.
He nodded. "Okay... I'll stay then." he told her. "Are you hungry?" he questioned. He knew he hadn't eaten and wasn't sure if she had or not. "I could go get something if you want..." he offered.
"Only if you are wanting to get something to eat." She'd eaten early, so Marlowe wasn't exactly famished at the moment, but if Lucius was hungry and needed to eat then she'd get a little something just so he wouldn't feel awkward eating in front of her.
He shrugged. "I could just order something later..." he mumbled. The need to eat quickly being trumped by the need to be with Marlowe. "I'd rather just sit here with you for a while..."
"I might be culinary challenged, but I think that I can put together a sandwich that'd be edible." If he didn't need something hot to eat Marlowe could very well supply him with a simply made meal. She'd rather sit here a bit longer with him, but Marlowe wasn't going to have her man starving just to satisfy her wants or needs of the moment.
He smiled a bit at that. "As long as it doesn't involve burning the house down by turning on the stove, that'd be nice. Give me a chance to get your present off the porch. Probably looks pretty interesting sitting there." he said with a slight chuckle.
"Ok." She said, a bit reluctant with the thought of him leaving her, even if it only be momentarily to get the gift he had brought for her.
"Hey, I'll just be around the house..." he told her, as he slowly stood. He leaned down to give her a quick kiss. "Come open the door for me?" he asked as he headed towards the gate and shifted himself through it before the dogs could get out, closing it again and latching it.
Marlowe unfurled herself from the bench after Lucius had taken to his feet, and after he slipped out past the gate the red head took the short walk to the back door and slipped back inside the house trailed by two large canines. And probably about the same time Lucius did, Marlowe had reached the front door and opened it after telling Roarke and Rogue to heel so they wouldn't go flying out through the door into the night when she went to let Lucius in.
Lucius was at the door, holding the vase of flowers. The streaked glass and little glass rock things Chelo had put inside caught the light and all but sparkled with it. Wildflowers. He gave her a smile and held the vase out to her. "Well... uh. These are for you."
"Oh my." Marlowe caught pretty much speechless when she saw the vased flowers. Wildflowers. She couldn't remember the last time she had been given flowers, and it must've been longer then that that she had recieved wildflowers. "Thank you." She finally managed with a warm smile as she reached out to take the filled vase from his hands.
He waited until she had a good grip on the vase before moving his hands away from it. "You're welcome." he replied. The look on her face was well worth the money he'd spent on them and he would be sure to head back in to thank Chelo yet again. If flowers put that smile on her face he just might have to take up buying them a lot more often. "Are you sure you want me to stay?" he questioned, his hand running through his hair lightly as he glanced at her. "The last thing I want to do is make you uncomfortable, Mar and... I don't have to stay if you don't want me to."
"I want you to stay." Her smile fading a bit as the features of her face took on a slightly more serious look. "But I don't want you to remain if you are unsure or might feel awkward about staying the night." She truly wanted him to, needed him to so she'd have that feel of comfort and safety that only his arms seemed to give her, but she wasn't going to make him feel obligated to stay with her.
"Why would I feel awkward...?" he queried. "I barely sleep as it is because you're not next to me... do you really think I'd give up the chance to be in the same room with you again?" He sighed, the feeling of vulnerability washing over him as he let his gaze drop to the porch again.
"Because you questioned staying here for the night." Marlowe sighed taking a step back away from the door. "Will you come in....please." She didn't like this bump they seemed to have suddenly hit. And the only way she figured it could be smoothed over completely was for Lucius to come into the house so they could talk some more.
He nodded and followed her into the house, shutting the door behind himself. There he went again, letting his words get all jumbled and making her think things that he hadn't meant. If he could have kicked himself without looking like an idiot he would have. He wanted to be there. God he wanted to be there. But as bad as he wanted to be there, he still wasn't sure if she'd really forgiven him or not. Part of him wondering if she just wanted him there because of everything she'd been through that day. The worry of waking up the next morning only for her to question why she'd bothered letting him stay bounced through his brain.
"I'm going to go put the flowers on the kitchen table." Marlowe excused herself after Lucius walked in and closed the door to shut the world away. The wildflower arrangement would brighten the kitchen with the array of color the different flowers provided. And while she was within the kitchen Marlowe made a quick fixing of a couple lunchmeat sandwiches when she remembered that Lucius has said he was hungry. And it was with a plate of sandwiches in one, and two water bottle grasped firmly within her other hand Marlowe made her way back into the other room.
Lucius had headed into the living room, sinking down at one corner of the couch as he went over everything that he wished he could say to Marlowe. Part of him thinking he should just keep his mouth shut before he made things worse. He leaned back against the cushions of the couch and let out a breath. Hearing Marlowe come into the room, he turned to look over the couch. "Need some help?" he questioned, standing up again and walking towards her.
"I think I've got it." She smiled appreciatively to his his offer. "I'm used to handling more then a simple plate of sandwiches and a couple drinks at the diner." Marlowe assured him, her smle lingering as she circled around him to head over toward the couch Lucius had been sitting on. "It's not exactly homecooking, but it should stave off your hunger for a while." Marlowe said to him while she set the plate and bottles of water down on the short legged coffee table in front of the sofa.
He returned to the couch then, his thoughts still swirling through his head. "Marlowe... if I asked you to do something, would you do it?" he questioned. For a moment he didn't look up at her, he just stared at the floor. He took a deep breath and moved his gaze back to her again. "If I were to ask you to do something for me, even if it was an odd request, would you do it?" he said again, his brow furrowing. He couldn't fathom why he was about to ask her to do this certain thing for him. He sighed and waited for her to reply.
"What is it?" She asked back. She couldn't very well agree to something that, once hearing what the request was, she might end up finding she couldn't do.
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I-" he began, but then paused for a long moment, his thoughts whirling around, bouncing against the edges of his brain. "I want you to show me what you can do." he whispered. "I need to understand it... and I won't be able to do that unless I know exactly what it is I'm up against. So I need you to do this for me."
"Tomorrow." She responded softly. "Tonight I just want it to be you and me, like it was when we first met." She would show him. He had asked. Wanted to see what she could do, but that could wait until the morn. She didn't want a freaked out Lucius, even if his reaction might be slight, tonight. She just wanted to get things back to the way they were.
He nodded and shifted slightly against the couch. He motioned for her to come closer to him. "Come here." he whispered. He just wanted to hold her and pretend like the fight had never happened. To go back and start again where things were so amazingly perfect that it was hard to even believe it was real. Back to when things just worked despite the drama. Right now just having his arms around her would be more than enough.
Her legs curled snuggly under her as Marlowe settled sideways on the couch next to him. "Now that I'm here, what are you going to do with me." Fingers played lightly within his hair before gliding very casually down to stroke lightly along his jawline.
He moved forward, snaking his arms around her and pulling her towards him. His head resting against her shoulder as he tightened his grip around her body. "Never let you go." he replied, his words coming out low against her. He swallowed hard but didn't pull away from her. "Please tell me you forgive me." he pleaded. He didn't care if he was begging, he needed to hear that she forgave him. He needed to hear that everything was going to be okay. He needed to hear that things would be the way they were supposed to be again.
Marlowe folded her arms to rest them on his shoulder as Lucius held her snuggly within the curl of his arm. "I...forgive...you." A light brushing of her lips was felt against his one between each that she spoke. "I love you." The words whispered with a soft breath as Marlowe rested her cheek on the arms she folded and set gently to his shoulder.
A wave of relief fell over him then, his eyes fluttering closed. He let out a content sigh and squeezed her tighter. "I love you, too." he breathed out. "God, I've missed you."
"If you love me you won't let this go to waste." Marlowe smiled with a bit of playfulness as a reach for the plate on the table was made. The plate with the sandwiches she had put together were then set on his lap.
He gave her a smile and nodded. "I suppose I shouldn't." he agreed, his stomach growling in agreement as he took a bite of one of the sandwiches. A few moments and more than a few bites later he set the plate back on the coffee table and sunk back into the couch. "So... should I make myself comfortable down here? Or are you going to let me keep you company tonight?" he teased.
"I'll need someone to sing me to sleep." She answered with a soft smile. "Where the keeping of company happens to end up, that is a choice I leave in your hands." As long as Lucius was beside her it didn't matter where Marlowe spent her night. The couch was large enough to hold them for the night just as her bed upstairs was. Heck, she'd not mind it if Lucius chose one of the other bedrooms for them to sleep in.
He couldn't help but let the grin that was slowly forming at the corner of his lips take hold and spread across his face into a full blown teeth showing smile. "I guess that's the only reason you keep me around. Just so I can sing you to sleep." he joked, his tone clearly playful. "It's not my personality or because you think I'm amazing, you just use me as a sleep aid."
"Some people rely on pills to get a good nights sleep. I rely on you for that." And a few other things. "At least you know you're good for something." She told him playfully, and with a smile to match.
He rolled his eyes at her but leaned forward to steal a kiss from her lips, his hand resting lightly under her chin. "Mmm." he whispered as he pulled away, his eyes flickering back open to catch her brown eyes with his blue-green ones. "How bout I clean up the mess I forced you to make by feeding me, and then I'll come upstairs to sing you to sleep?"
"Ok." Normally Marlowe would insist that she'd take care of the cleaning up as the other person or people, in the house were considered guests and there for forbidden to do any type of houseworking duties. But this once she'd allow Lucius to take care of things. She really wasn't up for debating things with him, even it would be in the slightest of ways. "I'm gonna take a quick shower first though." Marlowe said. And with a light kiss to his cheek the red head stood to head for the stairs.
He nodded and gave her a smile. "Okay." he agreed and stood too, taking the bottles of water that were unfinished and the plate he'd eaten off with. He watched as she made her way up the stairs before heading into the kitchen and putting the waters back in the refrigerator. He moved to the sink and washed the dish off, drying it with a towel that was on the counter and putting it away. He then made his way up the stairs, the sound of the shower running catching his ear. He pondered ways to take up his time as she finished her shower, and coming up with hardly any he knocked lightly on the door. "All cleaned up..." he told her. "I'm gonna just wait in your room for you."
"What?" Marlowe poked her head out through the curtain that had been pulled across the length of the tub after shutting the water off for a moment. She'd heard his voice but with the water rushing over her Marlowe hadn't quite heard what he had said.
He assumed she couldn't hear him over the water so he opened the door slightly, though not peeking in out of courtesy. "I said that I finished cleaning up downstairs... so I'm just gonna wait in your room for you." he repeated, leaving the door cracked so he could hear her reply.
"Ok. I'll be done in a minute." And with having given a reply Marlowe ducked back fully inthe shower and switched the water back on to finish rinsing off the soap from her body.
"Okay." he murmured in agreement, shutting the door again and heading into her bedroom. He took off his shoes and socks and put them by the door then sat on the edge of her bed. The day before he couldn't even picture himself back in her room again and now here he was. A smile drifted across his face at that realization. Here he was, back in Marlowe's room, finally everything was right with his world again.
A couple minutes later Marlowe appeared in the doorway, her face lit with a soft smile when she saw Lucius sitting at the edge of her bed. Concealed beneath the robe wrapped around her, Marlowe had on an over-sized white tee and a pair of black, white and gray plaid boy short style pajama bottoms. Her red hair still damp from the brief shower she had taken. "Thought for sure you'd already be curled up beneath the covers." She shared wandering into the room in slippered feet.
He turned his head at the sound of her voice, his smile brightening just a bit at the sight of her. "I was waiting for you..." he told her. "And trying to figure out if I was just having a really vivid dream and I'd wake up and find out you were still pissed." he admitted. He stood then, walking towards her and letting his arms wrap around her body.
"I assure you this is the real deal and not some overly vivid dream you're having." And as if to prove her point Marlowe leaned in to kiss him with a light grin as a hand slid around to pinch playfully at his backside.
"Ouch!" he said, surprise at the pinch causing him to jerk forward against her slightly. "Okay... not dreaming..." he uttered, stepping back slightly as if to give her back her personal space.
"Sorry Baby. Just couldn't resist." She said giving a slightly apologetic smile. Unbelted her robe, letting it fall open as she took those few steps over to the bed to draw back the covers. Slipping out of her robe and tossing it across the bottom of the bed Marlowe crawled onto the bed to sit with her back propped up against the headboard.
Having not brought pajama's obviously, he pulled his shirt up over his head and let it fall to the floor before he worked at his belt. It wouldn't be the first time he'd slept next to her so he didn't figure she'd mind him in his boxers. The belt and his pants soon joined his shirt and he crawled into the bed beside her, mocking her position and leaning against the headboard. His fingertips brushing unconsciously over his chest.
Witnessing that Marlowe reached over slowly to brush fingertips lightly across his chest, her hand then found his weaving her fingers through his and giving a gentle squeeze. It seemed a moment where no words needed to be said as Marlowe leaned into his side letting her head tilt to rest against his shoulder. Actions sometime spoke louder then any voice.
He smiled softly at the simple movements she'd made. Her fingertips against his chest, and then entwined with his. Simple actions that to most probably wouldn't have meant a single thing, but to him everything she didn't say meant more to him that all the words in the world. He titled his head slightly, kissing the top of her head and letting out a soft sigh as he leaned his head against hers.
'I've missed this." She finally said with a soft murmur. The way they could just be together without any words being said, letting the silence speak instead. It was during these times that Marlowe felt the closest to Lucius.
He smiled at that, shifting enough to put his arm around her, draping lightly over her shoulder. "I've missed this, too." he agreed. "All of it. The way it feels to be next to you, the way you smell, the way your voice sounds... I swear I called like fifty billion times just to hear the sound of your voice."
"You won't have to do that anymore." Her hand laid itself gently on his chest just over his heart. "Cause I'll be right here." And with that she leaned over to catch his lips with her own.
He hummed lightly against her lips, his free hand moving to rest against her cheek, brushing his thumb over the curve. The fire he'd been missing rose between them then. The small embers that had been brushed away he found were only dimmed for a while, now catching fire again and burning quicker and hotter than before.
Her lips moved against his a moment longer before Marlowe drew back slightly and broke the kiss. "I think someone was promised a song." She said with a licking of her lips to savor the lingering taste of his kiss. Not that she didn't want him, the fires that had been stirred within her with the shared kissed had her wanting him more then she ever had, but this night wasn't about that. It was their night to reconnect. Get things between them back on track. She wanted it to be just like that first night she had spent with him in his room at Beacon House.
He nodded and slid down farther under the covers, his head resting against the pillows. He pulled her closer to him, liking the way that she felt against him and how perfectly her body molded to his, her head resting on his chest. He let his fingers trail through her hair as he thought of a song to sing to her. It didn't take him long to think of one and he took a slight breath before beginning the song.
The best thing bout tonight is we're not fighting. Could it be that we have been this way before? I know you don't think that I am trying. I know you're wearing thin down to the core. But hold your breath, because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you over again. Don't make me change my mind. I won't live to see another day I swear it's true. Because a girl like you is impossible to find... you're impossible to find. This is not what I intended, I always swore to you I'd never fall apart. You always thought that I was stronger. I may have failed.. but I have loved you from the start. He would have went back into the chorus, but he felt he'd said what he'd needed to say, even if it was just a song. "I am trying..." he told her. "And I won't walk away again. Not even to think." he laughed a bit at the last sentence.
"Let's get some sleep." Easing herself down to fit beneath the covers more fully, Marlowe shifted slightly to fluff up her pillow before her head fell gently to rest upon it. She wasn't turned the other way facing away from him, but had her eyes toward him as she laid on her side. She waited til he lay prone beside her before snuggling up into his side nice and close.
He nodded. "Yeah..." he agreed. "Work in the morning. Sleep is probably a good idea." He gave her a soft smile and let his arm drape over her. "I love you." he whispered, kissing her forehead softly.
"I love you too." Marlowe shifted over to her other side, her body keeping within the drape of Lucius' arm around her with her back against his chest.
He moved closer to her, kissing her cheek softly before resting his head against hers. He found her hand and linked his fingers through hers. "Night, Marlowe." he whispered.
Marlowe smiled a warm, unseen smile when she felt the warm body beside her move a bit closer. "Night." She whispered back. "The sweetest of dreams." She added with a light fluttering of lashes as her eyes fell slowly closed. She didn't drift off right away, rather the red head remained awake for about another fifteen minute just listening to his breathing and feeling the way the warmth of his nearness enveloped her.
