Checking In & Making Plans

Who: Kyle and Kavin
When: Early afternoon
Where: Kavin's house

It had been on Kyle's agenda for the weekend to check in on Kavin. A few texts here and there didn't really count as being there so when Kyle woke up on Sunday morning, he knew the first thing he needed to do before anything else was to go over to Kavin's and make sure he was still living. Of course, that came after the breakfast and shower. He rode his bike, thankful that the roads were decent enough that he could. Snow was everything and it was fucking cold outside. It left his face pink from the wind and his fingers nearly frozen in his gloves by the time he reached Kavin's house. He left his bike resting up against the side of the house before making his way through the snow to the door. He rang the doorbell twice before knocking, just to make sure his friend could hear.

Kavin had surprisingly actually made it to sleep the night before. He didn't get much sleep, but it was better than he'd been doing. So when Kyle rang the bell and knocked, he had already been up for hours. He'd actually even gotten dressed that morning and didn't look quite as bad as he had the day before, and much better than the day before that. He was still barefoot, despite the frostiness outside and the snow that he'd seen through the window. He might feel better, but he definitely wasn't ready to handle trekking through the snow anywhere. Padding over to the door, he checked out the window before pulling the door open and letting Kyle inside. "Hey, man. I feel loved. Braving the snowy winter and freezing your balls off just to come see me. How sweet." he teased.

"I needed to prove to you my balls don't mean nearly as much to me you do," Kyle replied, wiping his shoes off the best he could before stepping inside the house. He shut the door quickly behind him and began to shrug out of his coat. "You look decent, man, how are you feeling?" Granted, in Kyle's opinion Kavin still looked like shit, but he seemed okay, so that was the important thing.

"Don't lie." he told him, shaking his head and making his way over to the couch to plop himself down. He'd become quite fond of this couch the last few days since he'd spent the majority of his time curled up on the damn thing. "I look like shit. Just be glad you didn't come over the other day because today, I really do look 'decent' in comparison. I feel better. Still shitty, but not as bad as before."

"Okay, truthfully, you look like shit." He went over to sit down on the other end of the couch, his arm stretching out on the back of it. "But I'm glad you're feeling better. You've had people coming over, haven't you?" He was hoping the worst of the detox had passed because from what Kyle had read about it online, it sounded fucking horrific.

Kavin nodded. "Yeah. Gabe came by, Nate's been over. Jeri made me tea and soup yesterday and Issac was here yesterday, too. Apparently I'm a pretty popular guy." he chuckled. "You guys like me, you really like me." he said, pretending to wipe away a tear from his cheek.

"I'm sure you'd do the same for us," Kyle said with a shrug. And then he flashed Kavin a grin. "I think it's really more that people want you to get better so we can start hounding you for more parties. We had to have an outside bonfire as the alternative. Nearly froze my balls off then too. Are you feelin' up to coming back to school soon?"

He chuckled. "I think I want to do something for Halloween." he thought out loud before moving on to answering Kyle's question. "Yeah. I think I'm going to force myself back into class on Monday before I flunk my ass out." he muttered. He wasn't looking forward to going back to school, but at least he wouldn't have to sit around the house anymore.

"Dude, that'd be awesome. Alexis and I were hoping someone would do something for Halloween. I wasn't sure if I could get away with it in my house. But it's probably best that you go back to school tomorrow... if you start feeling like shit again you can always ditch out and go home." Kavin was going to be pretty behind, unless he had someone bring his homework to him, but he doubted there was any real concentration happening while detox was going on.

"Well I'll host it if you and your girl wanna set it up and spread the word." he said with a shrug. "I'm fairly certain I won't be dying anymore by then." Kavin said, giving a smile and a shrug. "And yeah, Monday I will dread it, but I gotta go. I'm sure I'll have a shitload of fucking assignments to keep me busy for the rest of the damn week."

"Shit, I hope you're not," Kyle said. "I think if you still felt like shit by Halloween, it'd be time to see a doctor. If you need help with your assignments... ah, don't ask me. Unless you want to fail all your classes. Maybe you could bribe someone smart to do your work for you, or help you out." His grin widened. "One of the hot, nerdy chicks or something. Though I think that might be an oxymoron... hot and nerdy. I dunno."

Kavin shook his head. "Actually... there's this girl I know, Jeri, the one that stopped by. She's kinda nerdy... geeky, what the fuck ever. She's cute. So I guess it's not an oxymoron after all. Not sure how good she is in school, but fuck, maybe I'll get her to help me." he smiled and shrugged. "She's younger though, not sure how much help she'll be with my classes. I can do the work, just don't want to." he chuckled. "But anyways, how's Alexis? Things going good with her? Are you guys official and shit yet?"

"Jeri..." Kyle squinted, trying to remember if he knew the girl or not. "You'll have to refresh my memory on her. Do I know her?" She wasn't really popular, or he would have at least recognized the name. "Who cares what grade she's in, ask anyway. If anything, at least you get cute, geeky company." He stretched his legs out in front of him, thankful to be finally warming up. "Alexis is fine, and I think things are going well. We're not official or anything... just having fun I think." He smirked and looked at Kavin. "She told me last night that I needed to cross any expectations of sex off my list. And she'd let me know if she ever changed her mind on it." Though he couldn't complain too much, given what they did in her bed anyway. Definitely not complaining. He just wanted more.

"Jeri. Brown hair, hangs out with those kids that play that stupid card game. Magic something. Whatever. She's usually with a bunch of nerdy guys. Lives down the street from me." He laughed a bit at Alexis telling him to cross sex off his list. "Awe, looks like Kyle isn't getting any either." he teased. "At least I'm not the only one."

"Magic card game?" Kyle made a face and shook his head. He didn't want to know. And if Jeri hung with nerdy guys, Kyle most definitely didn't know her. "Fuck, it sucks. I mean, we're not official, but I think I'd still feel like a shit if I found a girl willing. But... I don't know if I can go a long time without it. She's a virgin, so she's probably waiting for some guy she loves or crap like that." Sighing, Kyle's head fell back against the couch. "It really blows."

Kavin chuckled and shook his head. "Yeah, Magic card something. Whatever. I don't really want to know about it either. Once you get past the nerdy games and stuff, she's not so bad. But yeah... a virgin. She is probably waiting on some guy she actually loves. Sorry man, you're just not that loveable." he chuckled.

Kyle was of the mind that once you got past the nerdy games, you just got more nerd. But that was his own opinion, and he kept it to himself. "I'm not loveable! That's the thing." He laughed and shook his head before rubbing both hands over his face. "Girls like that like to plan shit like sex for prom night, you know? And prom is a long fucking time away. Don't even know if we'll be dating by then either. I guess if I just keep myself distracted, I'll be able to deal with it, right? How do you do it? 'Cause I'm sure you haven't been laid in a really long time," he grinned.

"Oh, you're a bastard!" Kavin said, reaching out to punch Kyle in the arm. He would have done it harder, but his body was still weak from the detoxing it had been forced into. "Porn. Lots of fucking porn." he muttered. "Get real friendly with your hand man, you're gonna be needing it. And I have firm plans on getting laid by someone and soon, but I just gotta figure out who it'll be first."

Groaning, Kyle shook his head again and slumped against the cushions of the couch. "See, now that's how I would look at it. Just gotta figure out who it'll be first. And my hand was always my last option, thanks. Good luck to you, though. You should have no problem." He sighed. "Bastard." And then his lips curved into a slow smirk. "Jeri?"

"Wipe the smirk off your face, horndog." he muttered. "I've known this girl like since forever pretty much. Her mom and my mom are best friends. I don't even know if I like her, let alone if I want to fuck her. Issac thinks I need to take her out and see how it goes or something. I just don't know." he shrugged. "She does apparently think I'm hot though. I think. That was a confusing conversation, so I'm honestly not sure if that's what she meant but whatever."

"Even better, you've known her for a long time, so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out whether or not you want to fuck her. You said she was cute, didn't you? And she brought you soup and shit. And she thinks you're hot. It's not like you're looking for romance and a long term commitment." Though that didn't mean she wasn't. "But do what St. James suggested and take her out if you want. Guess if you're getting advice, his would be the advice to follow."

"I guess I'll just have to wait and see. And yeah she's cute and dude, she tokes too. That's gotta be like a redeeming quality for her nerdyness. I wouldn't have to keep that shit from her if we did end up hanging out more." Kavin didn't want to have to hide that part of him from anyone else. Be upfront and out there about it from now on.

Kyle laughed, his eyes wide with surprise. "Geeky girl tokes? Awesome. I think she's just notched herself higher on my respect ladder. You'll have to introduce me properly, yeah?" Alexis didn't know Kyle smoked pot, and he wasn't sure what she would say if she did know. It wasn't hurting anyone, and he enjoyed it, so it wasn't really a worry of his.

"I might have to do that." Kavin said with a little laugh. "I didn't know she did either, but apparently she does. Not that I'm complaining. Apparently a lot of people I know smoked and I didn't even know. You bastards kept it a secret and shit."

"Hey, you kept it a secret from us too," Kyle pointed out. "Besides, not many people go around admitting to their friends they smoke weed. But now I know you do it too... so between you and Gabe, I don't think I ever have to smoke alone again." Though it was nice, every now and then, to have a bit of privacy. "We got ourselves a little toking community at MSHS. Who would have thought?"

Kavin chuckled and shook his head. "Well I kept it a secret because I thought you guys were as straight laced as I was pretending to be." he countered. "And yeah, seriously. You, Gabe, Nate and now Jeri, shit... toking alone is a thing of the past. And I'm so due for a good fucking couple hits off of something. I gotta call Nate and get my weed back from him. I think I'm close enough to normal to not fucking smoke it all up at once."

"Straight laced? Well, maybe. It's a good persona to put on. Helps you get away with a lot more than you would otherwise." Kyle rolled his head on the back of the couch so that he was looking at Kavin. "I'm thinkin' of having some guys over for poker sometime soon. Since I'm sure I'd invite you and Gabe, and probably Nate, I don't see any reason not to enjoy more than gambling. Should make the game a lot more fun. When you're feeling up to it, of course."

"That'd be pretty awesome." he said with a smile. "I could always use more money. School you guys in the way poker is supposed to be played." Kavin's smile quickly shifted a bit to a smirk. "Just tell me a time and shit. Maybe I'll be back to normal by the weekend. I hope. Don't think I could throw up again ever."

"Aw, see now you're just talking out of your ass," Kyle chuckled. "I'll get it put together and let you know when it's going to be." He felt his phone buzz and dug it out of his pocket, checking the text before he looked over at Kavin. "I think I gotta take off. Do you need anything before school tomorrow or do you think you'll be okay?"

"I think I'll be good. Thanks for dropping in to make sure I wasn't dead though, man. I appreciate it." Kavin said, giving the boy a smile. "See ya at school, then?"

"Yeah, totally." He gave Kavin a smile and pushed himself up from the couch to grab his coat. He shrugged it on and headed for the door with a small salute. "I'm glad you pulled through the worst of it. Everything's suppose to get easier here on out, right?"

"Hopefully." Kavin grinned. "As long as I'm not dead, I suppose things turned out okay." He'd have rather not gone through any of it, if he'd had the choice, but he supposed now, looking back, that it could have gone even worse than it had and that he had nothing in particular he could really complain about. He too got up from the couch to follow Kyle to the door. "Now I just gotta survive school."

Snickering, Kyle nodded. They all needed to survive school. Thankfully it was the last year, for many of them and so far Kyle was thinking it was a piece of cake. "Definitely a bigger challenge than surviving detox, right?" Kyle pulled open the door before turning and hitting Kavin lightly on the arm. "See you tomorrow, jackass."

Kavin chuckled. "Come over and call me names while I'm withdrawing. Some friend you are, bastard." he teased. "I'll see ya, man." he promised regardless, tapping Kyle on the arm in return. It was nice to know that at least he had friends who cared enough to check on him through this whole mess. Almost made it worth going through. Almost.
