Cocky Confidence

Who: Alexis and Kyle
Where: MSHS, Chemistry Class
When: Morning

Alexis stepped into Chemistry class in a good mood, though the slightest bit nervous about seeing Kyle again. She hadn't heard from him since he left Saturday morning, but she told herself that didn't mean anything. At least, that was her hope. She still wasn't sure how these things worked and she didn't want to read into it incorrectly. While she'd thought about calling him, or texting him, she wasn't all that sure what to say. And now it was Monday. Smiling, she stepped into the room and headed towards their shared lab desk.

Kyle was actually early to class for once, since he hadn't seen Alexis at all that morning and he figured she would be there before the bell rang. He grinned when he saw she was there, and he slipped his backpack from his shoulder, setting it on the table beside her. "Is this where I ask if you got your homework done?" he teased, leaning in to kiss her cheek. He thought that after the weekend, it was probably a safe thing to do, kissing her in public now.

"If I say no, is this where you let me copy yours?" she grinned, extremely pleased with the kiss. It made things feel official, even if there hadn't been words to do so. Anyone that witnessed it would know they were dating, and any girl that tried to move in on her territory would feel her wrath... so to speak. Hopefully there would be no 'wrathing' any time soon.

"Only if you're looking to fail chemistry," Kyle countered, chuckling as he unzipped his bag to take out his things. "How was the rest of your weekend?" He tugged his book out and looked at her. "Your dad get home safe and everything?"

"It was good," she smiled. "Kind of lazy. I did laundry on Saturday and homework on Sunday. Cleaned the house a little and hung out with my dad-- he got back safe; thanks for asking." Even if Kyle had no idea what her dad did, it was nice of him to ask. If he had known, he'd realize her father's safety really was an issue. "What about you? Do anything fun?"

"Lazy's not so bad," Kyle replied. "I didn't do a whole lot myself. I went to visit Kavin, since he'd been sick for awhile. My parents were both home all day, so we did the family thing after that. Not the most exciting way to spend a Sunday but... well, I got my homework done, so that's an accomplishment."

From the sound of it, they'd both taken it easy the rest of the weekend, which made her feel better about the whole not calling thing. It wasn't like he was out partying, or taking out other girls. He was just doing his thing, and she didn't need to be clingy. "Always a good thing," she grinned. "I figure there was enough excitement Friday night to cover the rest of the weekend. Is Kavin feeling better?"

Definitely enough excitement, though he would have liked seeing her again at some point over the weekend. He'd just been too busy with his parents home to get away. Kyle nodded and smiled at her. "He's feeling better. Back at school today so that's a good sign. I think I've talked him into having a Halloween party at his place too, so bonus. With the snow, I think most excitement's gonna have to take place indoors until spring."

"Score on the party," Alexis grinned. Halloween was rapidly approaching and she hadn't even thought about what she wanted to be. "It's probably better to take things inside. What do you think you'll do for a Halloween costume?" she asked. They weren't officially a couple, so she didn't know if she could suggest something together.

"I have no idea," he admitted. "I think if it's gonna be a costume party, I'll probably go to the costume store and look for something. Or I could take the easy route and go as a hockey player." Kyle chuckled, falling silent when the teacher started class and requested their homework. He pulled his out and showed Alexis rather proudly before passing it forward.

"You can't just go as a hockey player," Alexis said, her argument cut off as their teacher started in. She grinned in approval as he showed her his homework, getting out her own to pass to the front of the room. The teacher turned on the overhead and Alexis took out her notebook, ripping out a blank page to scribble on between them while taking notes.

Want to help me think of costume ideas?

Kyle glanced down at the paper she slid toward him and looked up once as the teacher began going over that day's lesson. He picked up his pen and pulled off the cap.

(kyle's handwriting)

something short and tight?

Alexis glanced down at the paper and had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. Of course he wanted her to wear something short and tight. That didn't really help her decide what, though.

If I go as eye candy, what do I get in return? Also, that doesn't help me choose. Ideas?

Kyle snickered and covered it up with a small cough into his fist, pretending to listen to the teacher for a few seconds before he lowered his pen to the paper again.

You get to be admired? gawked at? you could do the sexy nurse thing. or sexy devil chick. or sexy cowgirl - sense a pattern?

Her eyes shifted to him as she laughed silently, taking a moment to take actual notes before replying. She had the feeling she was going to have to review this lesson later.

90% of girls halloween costumes are sexy. with little tiny skirts. though a cowgirl could be fun. chaps maybe? and I think I should get eye candy in return!

Kyle wasn't too worried about missing most of the lesson. His tutor would have it, ready to quiz him, and she generally realized he didn't pay much attention in class anyway.

I'm not agreeing to being any kind of eye candy until I know what you decided on first. I was thinking of going as a tube of toothpaste.

Alexis raised a brow, wondering if there was anywhere he was trying to go with that. If so, she was missing the joke, though it was possible he was just being absurd.

Okay, so which is better, little skirt or tight pants?

She paused, then added on...

keep in mind that undergarments must be chosen accordingly.

He was being absurd, but he supposed a joke sort of fell flat when it was written on a piece of paper. He read her response and paused, chewing on the end of his pen for a moment before scribbling a reply.

little skirt. that way you can keep it on all night no matter what I do to you.

Looking down at the paper, Alexis blushed, pressing her lips together as she smiled. While she liked the idea, she would never admit to it.

Kinda cocky, aren't you? So help me narrow it down. pirate? princess? nurse? fairy? indian? cat girl? devil? story book character? i could be little red riding hood, but only if you go as a wolf or something. that's only fun as a pair.

Chuckling, Kyle glanced at her before replying. She hadn't hit him or anything, so he was pretty sure she wouldn't be opposed to that.

if you call being confident cocky, then sure. maybe I ought to go with you costume shopping later and you can try stuff on for me and i'll let you know what looks best? then we can decide

That was an opportunity to see her in a multitude of skimpy outfits. And he realized going as a 'pair' was a fairly couple-y thing to do, and he wasn't sure about that yet. A wolf might be fun, but anything too cutesy would get him picked on by his friends for weeks.

If she'd wanted to get him picked on, she'd have asked for Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, and Alexis didn't think she could pull that off without the promise of something much better than a handjob. She also noticed that he didn't write anything back in the regards of going as something similar, so she didn't push it, at least for now.

Are you actually suggesting you go costume shopping with me? And confidence is all well and good, but you might want to ask me to the party first

He shot her a look, wondering if she was serious or not. But some girls were weird about things like that, he supposed.

okay, well, once I know for sure a party is actually happening, then i'll ask you. then when i ask you and you say yes, we'll figure something out costume wise. sound good?

She'd been teasing and her returning look said so, though she was pleased with his wording this time. There was no 'maybe' I'll ask you, or something along those lines. He sounded sure of himself, which was assuring.

sounds good. since that's a while off, did you want to do something this week? maybe hang out?

It wasn't a date, and she was the one asking, but she wanted to spend time with him.

Kyle paused briefly in the note passing to jot down the assignment and book page numbers they needed to read for tomorrow's class before his gaze shifted to the question she had written down.

yeah, that should be fine. we've got a hockey game thursday but I'm sure you knew that - dance team and all. maybe tuesday/wednesday?

Alexis realized she was missing something important, and hurried to scribble down the assignment before reading his reply. Tuesday was tomorrow, but they hadn't really spent time together since Friday. Class didn't count.

how about tuesday? then if you wanna hang out after the game, you won't be sick of me

Kyle wracked his brain to make sure he hadn't made plans with Gabe or anyone else tomorrow after practice. No plans entered his mind and he figured if he had made plans, they'd understand.

tomorrow is fine - after hockey practice. i'll have to check with the guys about after the game since we all go out sometimes. but if we don't, then that's fine too.

After hockey practice worked for her, since she had dance and then work as well. Even if she was only putting in a few hours here and there, they added up to nice spending cash. With dance practice added in there, she couldn't hang out every day if she wanted to.

no worries. I don't want to intrude upon your guy time! and I've got dance tomorrow after school first. want to meet somewhere?

I'll come back to school after hockey practice if you want and we can go from there?

okay!

He would have to remember not to take his bike tomorrow. He hadn't brought his bike with him that day either, knowing he was going to walk to practice with Gabe. Kyle smiled at Alexis, happy to have plans with her. He didn't know what they would end up doing, but he wasn't too worried about the details.
