Come on get happy.
Who: Ivan and Lucius
Where: Ivan's house
When: 8:50PM
Ivan entered his house quietly, pausing a bit in his doorway to the strange new feeling of his house before even noticing the cleanliness of it. Lucius was sitting on the couch looking down, more than likely about the whole situation with Marlowe. He shut the door quietly before wandering towards the couch and sitting down next to Lucius and curling up in his seat, hugging his legs close to his chest. He looked at the other man before grabbing a blanket and covering himself with it, "Don't look so happy to see me, I'll start thinking the wrong thing about you..."
Lucius glanced up at Ivan. "Hey... sorry. Wasn't really paying attention. Got a lot on my mind I guess." He mustered up a smile and looked around the room and then back at Ivan. "Hope you don't mind, I did my best to get it semi clean for ya. At least you have a door now. And I wasn't sure what to do about your coffee table so it's uh... over there." he told him, gesturing towards it.
"..It's okay.." Ivan said tiredly, not bothering to smile back. He looked down from Lucius, sighing softly, "..Thanks..." After a somewhat awkward, quiet moment, Ivan looked up at him, tired and distressed, "...I hate seeing you unhappy..."
He shrugged. "It's not so bad really. As long as I keep my mind off of the whole situation I'm okay. It's just hard to keep my mind off of it all when every time I turn around there's something or someone saying her name or reminding me of her." He sighed. "I guess I'm being a loser..."
Ivan sighed deeply, looking away from him. In all honesty, he felt a little disgusted, "...She's lucky to even have someone care about her the way you do..."
"Let's talk about something else. Please." he pleaded, standing up from the couch. "You won't believe how long it took for Hannah to suck all the yuck feelings out of this room." he smirked. "Glad to be out of the hospital?"
Ivan glanced up at him before sinking down into the couch, "..I guess... I'm not really any happier though..." Even though Ivan was out of the hospital, what was even the point? He felt empty and lost inside, as if he had no purpose.
He sighed. "You're really not helpin' my mood, man." he joked. "Your friend picked you up right? Did you have a good time hangin' with whoever it was."
Not looking up at him, Ivan said softly, "...He just picked me up and took me home... didn't really do anything..." He stayed quiet for a moment, before softly whispering, "..I'm sorry... It's not like I'm being shitty on purpose..."
Lucius shook his head and walked over to Ivan, moving his hand to his chin and forcing him to look up. "I want you to listen to me okay, I'm only gonna say this once, got me?" He paused for a moment and took a breath. "First of all, you're not 'being shitty', I was just joking. Second of all I really wish I knew what I could say to make you feel better about everything, but I'm the one who's being the shitty friend lately. I know I've put you in a pretty crappy position Ivan, especially as middle man between me and Marlowe, but you have to understand that I do care about you. You're like one of my best friends, at least the closest thing I have to one. So would you please, please try and be happy for once? I don't think I've ever actually seen you smile or be happy the whole time I've known you." He sighed and moved his hand away from the man.
Ivan wanted to explain to Lucius that it wasn't that simple. That there's different ways of caring about people. The one thing that Ivan wasn't satisfied with was now being allowed to care about Lucius the way he wanted to. But he supposed it would just be best for him to nod slowly and quietly apologize. "..Well, what do you want to do? ...I don't really have anything to entertain us..."
He shrugged. "Are you hungry?" he questioned. "I would cook for ya, but I just cleaned up the place and probably end up burning it down if I tried. But I can order a pizza or something." he offered.
Ivan smiled a little, "..Sure.. but you're paying for it.. we could watch horror movies too.. if you want.."
"Sounds like a winner, but if I scream like a girl, you can't tell anyone. I have my bad boy image to keep up." he told Ivan as he pulled out his phone and placed the pizza order. Plopping back down on the couch he looked over at him. "Alright, what scary movie did you have in mind?"
"I have a lot... Saw, Silent Hill, Resident, Jeepers Creepers, Halloween, you name it..." he said softly, looking up at Lucius, "Your pick..."
Lucius thought for a long moment. "Well how bout we start at the beginning of the alphabet and work our way through?" he suggested.
Ivan looked down before standing up and going to the cabinet drawers underneath the television and kneeling down before them. "Umm..." Ivan tilted his head a little, trying to go through the titles he had and going through his ABC's. "Freddy Vs. Jason?" He said, looking back at Lucius, "It's the one I have closest to A."
Lucius nodded and plopped back down on the couch. "Sounds good to me." he agreed. "Maybe seeing a little make believe horror will be more fun than actually experiencing it, don't ya think?" A smile broke out across his face. Despite the less than happy events of the last few days, he was feeling at least a small fraction better. The thoughts of Marlowe still littered his mind, but he kept his mouth closed about them now, hoping that the movie and some pizza would be able to lift his spirits further.
Taking out the DVD, Ivan was careful about removing the disc and putting it in the player. After setting the television and DVD player to their correct configurations, Ivan sat back down on the couch next to Lucius and wrapping the blanket around himself before hitting Place on the remote. "I like this movie," he said softly as it started, "It's funny in some parts."
Lucius smirked at that. "I've never heard someone refer to a horror movie as 'funny'." he teased, glancing over at the man. "I guess it's a lot different when it's in a little box in your living room and not actually in your living room."
"I guess I'm just a weirdo like that..." Ivan said quietly, having been desensitized to such things--but only if those things were like horror movies and survival horror games. Real life terror still got him cowering and whimpering.
"Being weird isn't so bad." he told his friend. "What's the fun of being the same as everyone else? I'm weird, far weirder than you by my last check." He shrugged.
"Your definition of weird and my definition of weird are two completely different definitions..." About twenty minutes into the movie, Ivan unconsciously had his head slightly tilted against Lucius's shoulder when he was startled by the knocking on his door.
"Just the pizza guy, dude." he muttered as he got up from the couch and raised his hand up, pulling this wallet from the table it was sitting on. "Sorry..." he said, looking down at Ivan as he made his way towards the door. "Habit when I get comfortable I guess..." He didn't wait for Ivan to respond, opening the door and paying the pizza guy. He returned with the box in hand and made his way towards the kitchen, setting it down on the counter.
Ivan winced as Lucius moved without warning, conking his head away. Watching Lucius get up and move away, Ivan rose a hand to lightly rub at his head. He paused the movie for the man and sighed softly, waiting for him on the couch and sinking underneath the blanket.
Lucius found some plates and put a couple slices on each one, coming back out and handing one to Ivan. "Want me to get you some water or something?" he questioned, sitting his own plate on the arm of the sofa.
Looking up at the other, he reached out a hand and took the plate gingerly, "Thank you... and yes, water would be fine.."
He nodded and headed again to the kitchen returning a moment later with a glass of water for Ivan, holding it out to him. "Here ya go." he said waiting for him to take the glass and then sitting down and pulling his plate into his lap.
Ivan took the glass and sipped at his water before setting it down on the floor. He un-paused the movie and nibbled on a slice of his pizza. After a while, he softly asked, "..Does she know you're here?"
"Marlowe?" he questioned looking over at the man. He knew that she was who the man was talking about so he didn't wait for an answer before shaking his head back and forth and rambling on with his reply. "No. I figure she thinks I'm at my room." he shrugged. "She won't answer my phone calls so it's not like I could have told her anyway." He let out a sigh and took a bite of his pizza. Once he swallowed he again looked at Ivan. "I doubt she much cares where I am at the moment."
Ivan looked at Lucius, studying him for a bit before looking back at the screen, silently wondering if he somehow had something to do with it. Sighing a little, he lightly rested his head again against Lucius's shoulder, "Do you think... that.. um.. I'll ever find a boyfriend to have fights with..?"
He shrugged. "Maybe if we get you outta this house." he told him. "What do you like to do besides painting and watchin horror movies for the laughs?" he questioned. "Maybe we can get you out and about and find someone for you."
Ivan smiled and blushed, though kept silent on wanting to find someone on his own. "...I hope we find someone great..."
Again Lucius shrugged. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see." he said, taking another bite of his pizza. He swallowed and let out a sigh, his attention turning again to the television. The blood and guts at least taking his mind off of Marlowe for the moment. How long that moment might last though, he wasn't sure.
