Come on get happy.

Who: Aaron and May
When: Late afternoon
Where: Aaron's house

She'd been wanting to do something for Aaron ever since hearing about Chrissy. She hadn't liked the girl really, but she knew that Aaron had been really close to her before their falling out. Regardless of whether he was on good terms with her at the time of her death, May knew that he was hurting. Really hurting. So, she made a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies and headed on over to his house while they were still warm. She knocked lightly on the door and waited for an answer.

Aaron's mom answered the door, a fluffy blue bathrobe wrapped around her ankle long nightgown. "Hey, honey," she said, having briefly met May before and recognizing her as one of Aaron's new friends. "Come on in, Aaron's in his room, he'll be so happy to see you're here." She ushered the girl inside, sniffing a bit when she caught the scent of cookies and smiling wider at May when she realized what she'd brought. "Oh aren't you a darling." Turning and catching hold of the railing she leaned over the stairs and called on up, "Aaron, your friend's here!" Then she gestured at May to go on up. "Make yourself at home."

May smiled and thanked Aaron's mother then slowly made her way up the stairs to Aaron's bedroom, lightly knocking on the door and waiting til he said she could come in before opening the door. She gave him a little smile and held out the tuperware dish of cookies. "Sweets for the sweet?" she smiled.

Aaron had been brooding, listening to a selection of sad songs on repeat since he got home. He sat up when he heard his mom announce a visitor and blinked red eyes at May when she entered the room. Her comment made him quirk a smile though and he patted the bed next to him before shuffling up closer to the wall. "You just want me to get fat," he faux-complained.

She settled herself in on the bed and handed him the tuperware container. "You can't get fat." she told him. "Your metabolism won't allow you to. Now keep those away from me because if I even smell them too long I will get fat. I'm feeling bloated just looking at them."

That made Aaron laugh a little and he reached over poked her in the stomach. "You're all soft at least," he told her before opening the container and taking a bite of a cookie. It tasted sweet, he could give her that, but he wouldn't eat a lot of it, his appetite sketchy at best. "You can afford to eat one. Just don't turn into a couch potato and start stuffing your mouth with all of them." He handed the box over and gave her an encouraging smile.

She smiled and took the smallest cookie, and of that cookie a small bite. Once she'd swallowed, she tilted her head just a little. "How're you feeling?" she asked, though she knew he didn't look like he felt any better. "A little better maybe?" May questioned hopefully. She really didn't like seeing him hurting like he was. She didn't like feeling helpless either.

"No," Aaron said with a defeated look, shrugging as he stuffed more of the cookie in his mouth, chewing it slowly. For a moment it felt like it was hard to chew, like it was made of rubber, or his jaw was coming off its hinges. "I just can't believe she's gone." He shook his head, brushed blond hair from his eyes and looked at her. "I don't really wanna talk about her. How are you? Did you have ballet practice today or did you spend all day baking?" It didn't occur to him she might have stayed at school the whole day.

"No practice today." she told him. "I'm okay though. School." she shrugged. "Trying to decide if I wanna do anything all dressing up for tomorrow. I have no idea what to go as though. Got any ideas?" she asked. Maybe fashion or costume thoughts would help get his mind off of Chrissy. Anything was worth a try as far as May was concerned.

"Oh God it's Halloween," Aaron groaned. He'd wanted to go see Rocky Horror and he'd wanted to dress up in something awesome but then so much bad stuff had happened and he didn't know how to react to it all. "Are people going to be showing up in costumes tomorrow?" He asked, frowning and looking around his room. "Are you and Heather going to?"

"People probably will." she nodded. "I probably will. Pretty sure Heather's going to, not sure what as though. You know how much she changes her mind." May smiled. "Maybe I'll be a dork and just go as a ballerina. At least I wouldn't have to run around trying to make up some really awesome costume." And Dylan might think I look cute all frilly and pink and... he probably won't even notice...

"I'll put on devil's horns and wear a suit I guess," Aaron sighed. "It's quick and easy to remove if it gets awkward. Stylish but not over the top." He smiled at her again. "If you show up as a ballerina you can just say you have practice - right now."

She was glad to see him smiling. "Plus if I really got tired of it I could just bring some clothes in my bag." she nodded. "Sooo, ballerina it is. Little pink tutu and everything." May was already going over thoughts for her make up and hair. "And you as a devil? Totally can see it. A super sexy demon." she grinned.

She really knew how to make him feel better and he leaned over and gave her a little hug. "You and Heather? Best thing that's happened to me, for serious. You guys and Dylan, did you know his mom died? Total suckage."

May hugged him back and then he dropped the bomb. "What?" she questioned. She didn't remember hearing that part before. "When? How?" she asked. "When did he tell you?" She immediately felt horrible for Dylan. All thoughts of crushes completely leaving her. Poor kid didn't have a mother. She'd died? "That's... awful..." she finally said as she slowly pulled away from him.

"Yeah," Aaron said. "So he was giving me this weird treatment today because of Chrissy and I was like... what the hell, you're so lame at this and then he told me. Because people told him stuff he didn't want to hear so he was afraid he'd tell me that stuff and I'd be all mad and stuff. He is so weird, but eh, total sweetheart." He smirked and poked her lightly as he added a suggestive, "As you know."

May blinked. And flushed. Flushed terribly. Pale skin resembling something closer to cherry than her usual ivory. "I don't know what you're talking about." she told him, though she knew that little falsehood was completely transparent.

"You're so cute, Maybe baby," Aaron laughed, poking her gently on the tip of the nose. "It's okay, you know. He's ridiculously cute. You're totally allowed to crush on him." He got up and moved over to his computer to put something on that wouldn't make him want to start crying again. Something happier, more 'cute boys are the topic of today'. So no more Frozen with Madonna, it was Britney's room now. "Seriously, May," he said as he set up the playlist. "It's like... totally normal to have a crush on someone."

"But I'd never have a chance with him..." she said softly, eyes flickering down to her fingertips as she let one hand move, idly playing with the fingernails of the other. Leave it to her to think she wasn't good enough. But he was so insanely adorable and sweet and funny and why would he have anything to do with her? If she wasn't friends with Heather and Aaron he wouldn't even give her the time of day.

"Are you kidding?" Aaron asked. "Girlfriend, you have got to work up some ego, seriously. You're pretty and talented. If I liked girls I'd be like, all over you or something." Though he preferred blonds when it came to imaginary girlfriends, Chrissy had proved that quite effectively. And here he was thinking about Chrissy again.. "Seriously, you need to learn to do like... the hairflick or something, like in Charlie's angels. God, me and Chrissy used to practice that hairflick all the time." He snickered at the memory, something sweet about her in face of all the crap. "Of course I didn't have hair to flick but you know..."

"The hairflick." she smiled, shaking her head. She was okay with hearing about Chrissy so long as it was in happy moods and not in the upset one he'd been in since her death. "I don't think I can pull off the hairflick." She did feel a little bit flattered that he'd 'be all over her'. Or something. May laughed lightly and shrugged. "Do you think I'd have a chance with him?" she asked. "Should I go for it? I don't even know what to do really. I just get all... tongue-tied with boys I like." she sighed.

"Oh God I'm going to have to relive my childhood with you then," Aaron told her. "We'll have to watch that movie and you have to practice." He had to laugh at that and it felt nice to let that out for a moment. "You'll sit here until you flip it just right."

May smiled and shook her head. "I didn't know there was a whole technique to hair flipping." she said, pulling the scrunchie from her hair and letting the dark strands flow free over her shoulders. "Alright. How do I do this said hairflicking?"

"Like I'd remember?" Aaron said with a comical roll of his eyes. "No hair to flick, remember? We'll have to practise and watch Charlie's Angels." He had sat back down next to her. "It's like... tilt your head, flick your hair as you raise your head and smile at him. I don't know if it works or why it works if it does but yeah... Very rawr."

She stood from the bed and did what he described. Or tried to at least. She wasn't sure if she did it right but she looked down tilted her head back with a flick of her hair over her shoulder and a big grin. Then a slight arch of her eyebrow as that grin flickered into a more seductive little smile. She didn't even know she had that in her, but boom, there it was. "How's that?"

"Okay, that little smile is good but don't grin so big when you do the headflip, 'cause then it just seems like you're joking and you don't want to give that impression," Aaron instructed, then grinned because it was pretty funny.

"No huge grin." she chuckled. "So just leave out the big grin and do the little smile at the end?" she questioned, waiting a moment and then doing it once more, not grinning quite so big. "Better?"

"Better," Aaron agreed. "But you can only do it once so you have to choose the right moment and he has to be looking, obviously." He wondered if Dylan was into her like that, the whole romance scene just made him feel out of loop.

"Well... I don't know." she said, sitting herself back down on the bed and leaning back against the wall. "I have to work up the guts." May told him. "And it's not going to do any good if he's not into me..." she told him. "But..." she began, "You're close with him. You should find out for me. But don't tell him that I like him. Just find out if he likes me."

"I'll keep my eyes and ears open for any hint of affection," Aaron promised. "You'd so totally make an awesome couple. Except one of you would need to be more assertive. You can't both be all shy and flaily, you know?"

"I'm not flaily... am I?" May asked him. But she knew he was probably right. She flailed internally constantly around Dylan. She bit her bottom lip just slightly before looking up at him. "I am flaily. God."

Aaron just laughed. "You flail very gracefully, Maybe baby. Don't worry too much. And he's so flaily he probably doesn't even notice it in you. You're both just totally awkward but not in a dorky way."

"Well maybe we can be awkward together or something." she said, sounding a little hopeful. "If he likes me. And you so have to tell me everything he says. Seriously. Memorize it. Tell me everything."

Aaron giggled at that. "How about I just start carrying a dictaphone around, hmm? I can record what he says and you can listen to it over and over and over and over," he grinned at her as he sing-songed the word over and over.

She blushed again and shook her head. "I'm not that bad. Okay, maybe I am, but you gotta admit he's such a cutie and he's got an awesome voice. God. So cute."

"He's very cute," Aaron said with a roll of his eyes. "I shall be a diligent little spy for you, May. I know you'd do the same for me."

"Definitely. Just lemme know next time you find yourself a cutie and I'll totally do some undercover ops for you, sweets."

"Will you wear a hot outfit and be all under cover style?" Aaron asked. "Because that would be like totally necessary."

"Duh." she said as if that was the dumbest question ever. "Sunglasses and tight black gear. Even a utility belt, baby. Don't even question it."

"Awesome, my dreamboy won't know what hit him," Aaron said and added a cheeky, "Wait, are you spying on him or kidnapping him?"

"Both if need be." she grinned and then let out a soft little tinkling laugh.

"Oh my God, you're so bad," Aaron snickered. "I don't know what I'd do with a guy if you kidnapped one for me. So let's just stick to spying." Not that he had a guy to spy on, at least not a one special guy. There were plenty of cute boys in MSHS but they were only really good for looking at and not much more.

"Spying it is then." she told him, flashing a big smile. "So whenever you set your sights on Mr. Right, I'll be right there to make sure he knows what a catch you are. And make sure he's totally interested, though, just between you and me, you're totally gorgeous so if he didn't know, he's too dumb anyways."

"Or straight," Aaron pointed out with a small laugh. She was really helping with his mood, that was for sure. Flattery was always a mood-booster. "The odds are kinda against me here but you're totally sweet."

Laughing was good. It was what she wanted. And he was a cutie so truth in the mood boost was even better. "Well, we'll just have to scope out the territory, sweetheart."

Aaron grinned at her and grabbed another cookie. It tasted sweeter this time around, probably thanks to his mood. "I'm not sure we'll find anyone in Marquette worth my while but scoping the territory sounds like fun."

"You never know." she smiled. "It's Marquette. Anything's possible."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Aaron asked. "It's a dinky little town. The only thing it has over Thompsonville is a big ass lake." And nicer people but he wasn't going to say that. His total social flop in Thompsonville wasn't something he liked to mention.

"Anything is possible anywhere." she told him. "But here, weird stuff happens all the time..." She didn't want to bring up the past weekend and Chrissy, but she had to. "I mean, last weekend, everything that happened." she shrugged. "Marquette's just weird." May herself didn't know all the details, or much about anything that had happened, but with the gang that had come through before and then the weird shadow things that no one could explain... and the attacks. It was just a lot of weird stuff. "But enough about that, doll. You and me should totally watch a movie or something. We gotta get you happy and I plan on doing it."

Aaron leaned over to her and playfully flipped her hair over her shoulder. "You're the doll, doll. But yeah, what do you wanna watch?" He crawled off the bed and opened up the cabinet where his TV and rows upon rows of DVDs were. "Pick one."

May looked through the DVD's and picked one at random. If she skimmed over them all, they could be there all day. She even popped it in for the two of them. "Okay. Movie, cookies, and some more of those smiles from you and today'll end on a good note."

It earned her another hug from Aaron when she sat back down. "Thanks, May," he said quietly, then moved over to get the large pillows from the head of the bed to use for their backs. "You want something to drink? I'll go get us something. Juice? Mineral water?"

She smiled. "Yeah. Water, please." she said in her ever soft little tone. "And it's no problem really, Aaron. I hate to see you hurting. We gotta get you back on that horse."

"It's only been like...a couple of days," Aaron said with a scowl but he headed out and came back a little less frowny. "Here," he said and handed her a bottle of water, opening one for himself.

May took the bottle, offering up a polite thank you as she settled herself on his bed, toeing off her shoes and leaning back against the pillows. She uncapped the bottle and took a sip then screwed the lid back on. "So, we should totally do something awesome this weekend." she said after a moment. "Like movie night or a sleepover or something."

"Yeah, get everyone together," Aaron agreed while getting comfortable. He wondered when the funeral would be, or more accurately the funerals. "We'll figure something out later though."

"Mhm." she nodded, eyes focusing on the television once more as she went over ideas to help Aaron cope with Chrissy's death. She didn't expect him to be happy-go-lucky right off the bat, but she did plan to stick by him and be that shoulder if he really needed it, and right now, she thought he needed it most of all. So she shifted a little and put her arm around his shoulder, pulling him against her. "You know you can talk to me." she murmured. "I'm here if you just wanna talk about... everything."

"Thanks, doll," Aaron said softly. It was understandable that she'd be so sweet to him at this time and he really appreciated but he couldn't help but think she needed a little bitch attitude installed in her or she'd get eaten alive by the world. They had time for that though, provided neither of them did something stupid like walking around a park after dark.
