First Kisses
Who: Kyle and Alexis
Where: From the party to Alexis' house
When: Late night
The more Alexis drank, the more fun she had dancing, and was relieved to find that she hadn't climbed up on any tables by the end of the night. Peyton was supposed to keep her from such foolishness, but she hadn't seen the other girl in a while, which probably meant she'd gone home or passed out in the guest room. Alexis wasn't too worried, since Isaac was there, and there were enough people around that were friends and would take care of her. She wasn't in quite the same position, but walking in a straight line probably wasn't much of a possibility either. Dancing, though, she could still manage. Unfortunately, it was the band's last song.
It was the band's last song, and Kyle was pretty sure it was time to walk Alexis home. She was definitely tipsy, plus walking her home meant he could get out of helping clean crap up. Maybe by the time he got back it would just be Kavin and Nate and they could just chill for the rest of the night. "You ready to go?" Kyle asked, murmuring in Alexis's ear as things began to die down. He noted, several times that night, that she smelled really good.
"Mmm... I guess," she purred, an arm sliding around his neck. Was it normal to want to touch him this much? "Too bad I can't dance all night. Do we need to help pick up?" she asked, looking around as her body continued to sway a bit to the music. She'd noticed the dwindling crowd, but she hadn't let it effect her. She'd go whenever Kyle was ready.
"Hell no, we don't have to help pick up." He chuckled and pulled back from her to take her hand. He really didn't want to stop dancing, since she was more or less plastered to him which felt really damn good. But he knew he should get her home soon so she didn't get into trouble. "That's what the host has to do. Another reason for you never to throw your own party. Do you need to grab anything, pretty girl?"
"Just my purse and my coat," Alexis smiled, giggling softly at the complement. "You're so sweet," she told him. "Just one second." She squeezed his hand, then moved to grab her stuff from behind the couch where she'd stashed it. Alexis skipped back to him on steps that weren't completely steady and took his hand again. "Okay, we can go," she said, deciding to wait till she got outside to pull her coat on. Right now she was hot from all the dancing and a jacket would seem a bit too much.
He took her hand, watching her to make sure she didn't fall. At least she wasn't so fall down drunk that he had to carry her home. That would suck. "Let's go." He said goodbye to a few people and led her outside, thinking he should have grabbed his track jacket. It was a bit chilly, though it felt good at the moment on his heated skin. Outside he smiled at her. "Did you have fun tonight?"
"I did," she grinned, watching her steps as they walked down to the sidewalk. She didn't want to trip and fall on her face. What kind of impression would that make? Alexis paused to slip on her jacket, pulling her hair out from under the collar, then continued on beside him. "Kavin's house is better built for a party. There was more room to dance. And your friends are nice. Did you have fun?"
"Most of my friends are nice," he agreed with a nod. "And yeah, I had a lot of fun. It's always more fun when you've got a cute girl willing to dance with you all night." He flashed her a flirty grin. "But yeah, Kavin's house is pretty nice and much bigger than Gabe's. Gabe's place is good for get togethers that don't include the entire school." Kyle sometimes thought his room was bigger than Gabe's house. Exaggeration sure, but it felt that way sometimes.
"My house is kinda tiny, but it's just my dad and I-- and we already know I'm not gonna have a party there, so it probably doesn't matter. If you host a party, I'll help you clean up though. Just FYI," she said, looking over at him with a smile. "So if I hadn't been there, would you have danced with every girl at the party?" she teased. "I feel lucky to have gotten you to myself." And maybe he didn't notice, but she'd only danced with other girls when he wasn't dancing with her.
"I'm gonna remember you said that," Kyle told her with a smile. "And nah, I wouldn't have danced with every girl. I usually don't dance unless someone asks me. I usually just drink and talk shit with my friends at parties. I always figured asking girls to dance was restricted to formals and stuff. But I'm glad I got to dance with you tonight. It was a lot of fun." He had noticed she hadn't danced with other guys. Because if she had, then he definitely would have known it.
"Now I feel special," she giggled, trying not to feel too overly excited about the whole situation. She was on a date, with a cute guy, and it had been amazing, and they had gone to the circus, and had gone dancing, and she was feeling absolutely fabulous. They walked in silence for a minute and Alexis realized she had a huge grin plastered on his face. "What do you have planned for tomorrow?" she asked.
"Tomorrow?" Wake up at Kavin's probably hung over as fuck. "Ah, I don't know yet, to be honest. I know I've got plans with my dad in the afternoon, but I think I might end up going to that party at Babylon after all. You said you're going with Lily and... that other chick, right?" He'd already forgotten her name and he knew it was something weird. "You think you can save me a dance or three tomorrow night too?"
"Breezy," she said with a nod. "Funny thing? If you shorten my name we can be Lily, Breezy, and Lexi. We sound like a little contained clique." Except no one called her Lexi around here. Some days her father still called her Alex. "I think I can manage three," she grinned. "Maybe even four, if you're lucky." She wondered how she would handle other boys that might ask her, since she wouldn't officially be there with Kyle. It was something she'd just have to see about when it actually happened.
"Yeah, that does sound like a clique. A really stuck up one, but I've met you and Lily so I know that can't be true. If you can manage four dances, I'll be forever in your debt. I'll try not to follow you around like an overeager puppy too much, okay?" He smiled at her, thinking he was looking forward to seeing what kind of costume she picked out. Tomorrow would no doubt be full of surprises.
"Breezy's not stuck up either. They're both just really nice. It's kinda awesome that I met them, cause it's sometimes hard to meet new people; but we're all new! If that makes sense?" she asked, but she really didn't care. She was pretty sure he got the idea. "You don't really come off like an overeager puppy, though you are cute like one," she smiled. Alexis suspected he could pull off puppy eyes if he wanted.
"New people must band together, right? I think it is cool that you three became friends. It definitely makes the transition easier, doesn't it?" Kyle never had to deal with moving to a new town and a new school. He'd been surrounded by friends for as long as he could remember, and it had never stopped. "And naw, I'm not too much like a puppy. Maybe with the panting and wagging my tail thing, but other than that? No comparison," he teased.
"I bet I could also get you to beg and roll over," she teased. "But don't worry, I won't tell anyone." Even if she knew what she was implying, she didn't quite realize she'd said it aloud until it made it past her lips. Alexis began to giggle and covered her mouth as a blush rose to her cheeks and she shook her head. "Sorry, I'm a little tipsy."
That prompted a short, surprised laugh from him and if possible, he felt his own cheeks heat up. "Oh yeah? Well, if you can get me to do that someday, please don't tell any of my friends." He reached out to poke her playfully in the arm. "And it's okay... you're funny when you drink. It's cute."
If she hadn't been watching him, she might not have noticed the slight tint to his cheeks, and even still it was dark, so she couldn't quite tell, but it felt like an achievement. Alexis grinned. "If I managed it, I doubt it'd be the kind of thing I spread around," she snickered, poking him back in the side. "I don't know if I'm funny, so much as I say what I'm thinking before I think about it. It just comes out. Sometimes it's funny rather than embarrassing."
"I think the way it comes out is funny," Kyle said. "Sometimes with reserved kind of girls, when they drink a bit... they let loose? Not in an annoying way - well, some girls are annoying - but in a fun way that you wonder why they don't let it out more often. You haven't said anything embarrassing tonight." Kyle glanced at her with a small smile. "You gonna remember any of it in the morning?"
"Every word," Alexis grinned. "Why? Were you gonna say something in hopes that I might not? It'd take a whole lot more for me to forget. Like, you'd be carrying me home," she snickered. "And that would so not fly. You ever been so drunk you forget things?" she asked. She'd only been there once, and then she vowed never again.
Kyle shook his head. "No, see, I wanted to make sure anything I said or did you would remember. Unless I was an idiot and stuck my foot in my mouth at some point tonight, but since you're still hanging out with me, I'm guessing I did okay for myself." He slipped his hands into his jean pockets and considered her question. "I've been drunk enough that I don't remember anything, yeah. They've never been my best moments or anything. I've woken up outside in just my boxers before." He chuckled softly. "None of my friends will talk about that one at all, and I'm almost thankful for it."
"No foot in mouth moments yet," Alexis said. "I figure I'm okay since you didn't ask to take me home hours ago." That would have been the sign of a bad date, if her date was trying to get rid of her early. "You woke up in your boxers and you don't remember how you lost your pants?" Alexis giggled. "I probably wouldn't want to know either, if it was me. But only if it wasn't referenced by anyone else. If I got teased for something I couldn't remember, I'd have to kick some ass."
"I found my pants, but I wasn't wearing them when I woke up and... I probably shouldn't be admitting this kind of stuff just yet." Revealing his stupidity on a first date was suppose to be a no-no. Kyle would prefer to keep his drunken and/or high exploits to himself for the time being just so she didn't peg him as a total asshole. "I do know how to limit myself," Kyle added. "It's just sometimes Marquette gets to be so boring there's not much else to do."
"You limited yourself tonight," she pointed out with a smile. "That's a good sign. And if Marquette's boring, then we'll have to see about making it a little less so, right?" She already had some plans to spice things up, but it would take a bit to get there. Luckily, she was already on her way. Alexis looked up ahead, spotting her house and her footsteps began to slow. She wasn't quite ready for the night to end.
"That's what the parties are generally for," Kyle pointed out. "Everything being a little less boring. But if you've got ways to make it a bit more interesting, I'll be all ears." Kyle noticed they were coming upon her house also and wondered if her dad would still be awake. And if he was, if he would notice her daughter smelled a bit like alcohol. "Are you going to get in trouble for drinking?" he asked, thinking he probably should have checked with her earlier.
She'd tell him alllll about it... when she was a little more sober. Right now the plan seemed complicated and convoluted and silly. "Mmmm, I don't think so. He's probably asleep," she said, pulling her purse around to check her cell phone. As expected, she had a text from her father. It wasn't that big a shock. "He's in Ontonagon. Should be back tomorrow." She looked up at Kyle and bit her lip. "There's a convention... or something," she shrugged. "So, no, not getting in trouble."
"Must be an exciting convention if it's in Ontonagon," Kyle told her with a small smile. "Guess his job is a bit unpredictable, right? Are you going to be okay being home alone all night?" She was probably used to it, and he had no doubt she could take care of herself, but she was sort of tipsy still and he didn't want her getting hurt being home alone.
"I'll be okay," she smiled. "It's kind of my life. I'm used to it." Even though it sucked. For all she knew, her dad might not return. He was a hunter, and that meant his job was never predictable. But she wouldn't dwell on that tonight. "It used to bother me, when I was little. But that's cause I didn't see him as much. Now I get to see him when he's not working, so it's better. Just sometimes he has to take off." She turned, leading him up her from walk. "Are you going to be okay, walking alone in the dark?" she teased gently.
Kyle followed her, thinking that they had something in common. Only he saw his parents nearly every night, at least for a few minutes, and sometimes for dinner. It used to bother him too, when he was smaller and more or less raised by his uncle. But now he enjoyed the freedom that came with it. "So then you'll be pretty independent by the time you leave home," he pointed out. "Being in that kind of situation since you were young. But yeah, I think I'll be okay walking back. Marquette's not that scary of a town, despite what people say," he added with a small smile. "But I'll definitely see you at the party thing tomorrow night, right?"
She decided not to go into it, about her mother's death, then living with her grandmother, then finally getting to live with her father. As a child, it hadn't been acceptable to have her only parent always on the road, but when there were no relatives left, Alexis had finally gotten to live with her father. She was thankful for any time she got with him, even if it was hit or miss. "I dunno. There's all sorts of things hiding in the dark," she pointed out. Hopefully he'd be careful. "I'll definitely be there," she smiled, stopping in front of her door. "Will you be able to find me? With the mask and all?"
"Yeah, like stray cats and raccoons lookin' for something to eat," Kyle pointed out. "Nothing that's gonna make me carry around a baseball bat every night." He didn't believe in some of the town gossip he'd heard over the past few weeks. It was all ridiculous and crazy and made him want to roll his eyes every single time. "I'll find you," Kyle promised. "Mask and all." He stepped toward her, wondering if she would let him kiss her. It seemed like the right way to end a fun night, other than taking advantage of the fact that her dad wasn't home.
That little step towards her had her heart beating double time, the sound loud in her ears, so loud she wondered if he could hear it. Her brain ceased to work, every part of her running off some weird instinctual knowledge that she didn't quite understand-- she reached out to him, her fingers lightly brushing the front of his shirt. There was no pressure in her touch, not an attempt to stop him, but an effort to communicate something she didn't want to put into words. She was suddenly nervous, wondering if he'd do it or not, and if he didn't, then what did that mean, and would it be because she'd said she'd never been kissed, because then she knew she shouldn't have said something, and what if it was bad? All she could do was step closer.
Stepping closer was always a good sign. She hadn't flinched, or moved back, so Kyle lifted a hand to her cheek gently before leaning down to her and brushing his lips over hers with what he hoped was just the right amount of pressure. He didn't want to jump right into it and scare the girl, especially given what he knew about her now. All he wanted to do was make sure their first kiss was a good one.
Ohhhh, now that was nice. As her lips moved against his, Alexis melted against him, just as she had when they'd been dancing earlier. He was warm, soft but solid, and her fingers curled to hold on to his shirt. Did he know how long she'd been waiting for this? It wasn't about the perfect moment, but the feeling behind it, though there was nothing to complain about now. Her head was spinning, though it wasn't due to the beer, she was sure. It was the feeling of his lips against hers, and the wish that it would never end.
Kyle took her responsiveness as encouragement and he slipped his free arm around her waist to pull her closer to him before deepening the kiss just a touch. Her lips were really soft and he found he really enjoyed the way she tasted, even with the hints of alcohol there. His teenage boy brain wanted to do a multitude of things to her right there on the front porch, but he knew he'd have to leave that fantasy for a bit later. Alexis wasn't Chrissy, so there'd be no major groping tonight. And Kyle was okay with that. He was simply enjoying the way she felt and tasted right now without any expectations.
Kyle would have been shocked at the thoughts running through Alexis' mind, how far she could imagine taking it on the front porch, even if she'd never allow that to happen. It was just a little fantasy and nothing more, though for once it had a start in reality. She could taste the beer on him, still smell a hint of his cologne, and she hoped she'd be able to carry both with her through the end of the night. She wrapped her arms around his neck and wondered how long she could go without air. It didn't seem like a necessity when there were better things to be done with her lips.
He was an expert at going long periods of time without air - but only if he was kissing a hot girl was it worth it. And Alexis was hot. And for a girl who didn't have much experience with guys, he was finding she was a damn good kisser. Both arms were around her waist now, his hands resting on her lower back. He was bold enough to flick his tongue against her lips, urging them to part so he could taste more than just her lips. He thanked whatever god existed that her dad wasn't home. There was nothing to kill a mood faster than a parent turning on the porch light, or knocking at the window. And he definitely didn't want this moment interrupted.
Alexis hadn't been aware her body could tingle like that, that one little touch could feel so electric. A wave of pleasure rolled over her body and her fingers slid up into his hair as she opened her mouth to him. There was the slightest hesitation, only due to worrying how she might taste after all that drinking, but curiosity won out with the desire to see how his tongue would feel against her own. It was suddenly too hot outside, way too hot, but then she realized that was just them, the warmth created by having his body pressed against hers. A smile curled on her lips and she tried not to laugh as a little something clicked into place, movie scenes that suddenly made more sense than before.
Kyle's own body was responding in ways that put tingling to shame. The feeling of her fingers in his hair and the way she responded... it was an intense turn on. His own body felt overheated and he was glad he hadn't brought his jacket along after all. There was no doubt in his mind he'd be able to walk back to Kavin's and never once feel a chill from the weather after he pulled away from her. Kyle could feel her lips curve into a smile and it must have been contagious because without consciously knowing it, he suddenly had a smile on his own lips. "I refuse to believe you've never done that before," Kyle murmured, reluctant to let go of her.
"Never got more than a peck," she said, her arms still wrapped around his neck. "And believe me, there's no comparison." Boys that kissed her and ran away didn't count in Alexis' book. There had to be a date, an attraction, anything more than getting cooties from a boy on the playground. "That's too bad, though... I was hoping I might need a little more practice," she teased. Honestly, she was ecstatic to hear that he thought she was a good kisser. She'd been so worried that her nerves would get the best of her, and was relieved to find that hadn't been the case at all. "Maybe tomorrow night..."
He chuckled once and placed a kiss against the tip of her nose. "You're right, definitely no comparison." And fuck, did he want to show her all the ways one could kiss another... among other things. "I think that even when you're good at somethin', you should practice anyway. There's always room for improvement in everything you do, right?" Kyle grinned. He brushed his lips to hers again, briefly. "I will most definitely be tracking you down tomorrow night." And finding a dark corner with her somewhere. Hell yes.
She giggled softly when he kissed her on the nose, her laughing fading when he kissed her again. Though part of her wanted to invite him in so they could keep this up, she knew that was a bad idea in too many ways to count. "I'll see you then," she smiled, then took the initiative and kissed him one last time, a lingering kiss that she was reluctant to draw away from. "Goodnight, Kyle," she said, unlocking the front door to slip inside. She bit her lip, gave him a little wave, then shut the door and locked it. What an absolutely amazing night... and hopefully tomorrow would only be better.
