I Would've Killed You If You Died
Who: Jeri and Kavin
Where: Jeri's House, Kavin's House
When: The very break of dawn
Jeri was sitting on pins. Not in the literal way. She wasn't even sitting. In actuality she was Nervously Cooking and throughout the night she'd quite literally made enough to last herself, her parents, Kavin, Kavin's parents, and maybe any friends of Kavin a week worth of baking. Every ten minutes, more or less on the button, she needed to check her phone for a message or a text or even just to will it to ring, but no. If he was dead, Jer was going to kill Kavin. If he wasn't, she was going to beat him with a spoon, she swore, but only half-heartedly. Even her father and mother left her alone for the night, she was so high-strung, and that was a first.
"Phone me." She told her cell. It didn't reply. Jer gave it a glare and removed two pans of brownies (weed free, unfortunately, but she was still going to douse them in bourbon once they cooled) from the oven. "Message me. Anything, you bloody bastard." She hadn't heard from him since around midnight, and that was for-fucking-ever ago.
He hadn't phoned her, figuring he'd just show up. After sending off a few quick text messages to people he'd promised messages to, he headed to Jeri's. Sunrise was the most awesome thing in the world as far as he was concerned. He was more than glad for the dawn to be breaking and he was ready to make sure that Jeri had fared okay through the night. He lightly knocked on the door, really hoping not to wake up her parents, but not really caring at the same time. They'd get over it, damn it.
Jer swung towards the door and prayed, a quick and dirty prayer, that it wasn't one of his parents coming over to tell her that Hi, Kavin was dead. Because that would be bad. But she braced herself and walked slowly over to the door and opened it without checking who it was first.
She blinked a couple times at Kavin, then pounced him off the porch onto the snow and grass - good thing there was only like three inches they had to fall for that to happen. "You sonofabitch you worried me all damn night!" And Jeri kissed him soundly on the lips.
"Ow." he muttered, a pain flicking through his chest as she landed on top of him, but that was worth it. He kissed her back, there in the snow, not caring how much of an idiot he probably looked like. Tired and sore and ready for the night to be over, but kissing. Kissing was needed. After a moment he pulled away from her lips. "Worried?" he asked her with a little lopsided and tired smile.
"Yes, dammit. What the hell happened to your shirt? And your skin?!" She wasn't a boy, but Jeri acted enough like one to poke Kavin's wounds lightly. "Oh my god, show me where it is and I'll kill it for you."
"I already killed it and ow." he said with a little laugh that hurt his chest even more and produced another painful little noise. "It looks worse than it is. Promise." he told her. He was glad now that Dr. Marsh had bandaged it. Lord knows what she would have said if she could see the wounds.
"Hmph." Jer seemed at least partially appeased by this, and she hugged and kissed him again. "You must be absolutely exhausted. Come on. Lemme turn off the oven and then sleep. Unless you want to tell your mother we're dating right away." She brushed a thumb over the dark circles under his eyes gently.
"Well, I was kinda hoping to just bring you back to my place." he said, leaning up to kiss her once more. "Sleeping there and then doing the whole mom thing sometime today before the party. Which I guess I'm still having... but... some stuff happened last night and you need to hear about that too, so grab some clothes, turn off the oven and come with me?"
Jeri pursed her lips. "That doesn't sound good. Give me five minutes - here come in so you don't freeze while I gather my things. Take food from the kitchen. I made too much." And she held the door open for him - the entire place smelled almost like the bakery, except with far more sweetness than bread smell.
Once he'd managed to get to the door and into the house, after dusting himself off of course, he raised a brow. "Did you sleep at all?" he asked her. "Or did you just bake all night?"
"I did my homework first." Jer went over to the stove and turned the oven off. "I ran out of Splenda around one in the morning, so everything on the kitchen table I can only eat in moderation, so feel free to stuff yourself. I'll be right back with clothes." And she trotted off towards her room, feeling much better now that she knew Kavin wasn't off and dead in a ditch somewhere.
Kavin glanced around the kitchen at the mounds of baked goods and shook his head a bit. "Crazy girl." he muttered to himself as he picked up the first brownie he could find and took a bite, plopping himself down at the table.
It took slightly less than five minutes to get her things, but Jer took the time to fix her hair, too - which largely meant combing it. In any case, she came back with her backpack and picked up a roll for herself from the diabetic-friendly side of the kitchen, which she split open and put peanut butter on. "If you get the containers off the top of the fridge, when the dough rises I'll make homemade pizza for your party."
Kavin finished off his brownie and got up from the table with the slightest of a wince and headed for the refrigerator. He reached up - wince - and grabbed the containers. "Ready then?" he smiled tiredly. "Come on, lets get out of here before I eat all of this stuff and gain five-hundred pounds."
Jer nibbled on her roll, watching him get the pans. She would've had to get a chair to do it herself. "Okay. Let's go." And she slung an arm around his waist, and even waited until they were both outside before asking. "So what happened?"
He frowned as he sat the pans on top of his car and opened the front door for her to climb in. "Don't put anything in the backseat." he told her. "Actually, think you can squeeze your bags in the floorboard and hold these til we get to my house?" It wasn't that long of a drive, thankfully just down the street. "Someone we know died." he told her.
"...your backseat is empty." Jer pointed out to him. Then the realization of the next part of that came forward. "Wait, what? Who? Oh my god, what happened?"
"Chrissy Chapman. And I know my backseat is empty but... it wasn't last night and I just don't want anything back there." he said as he grabbed the containers and offered them out to her. "Please?"
Jeri took them all without complaint now, but she narrowed her eyes at him. "Dude, she was annoying but tell me you didn't kill her in your back seat. Seriously."
"No, but her body was back there." he told her. "I didn't kill her but I found her... or what was left of her and I couldn't leave her there..." he sighed. "Just... I don't want to talk about it." he told her as he shut her door and headed around to his side of the car and climbed in. He cranked it and drove the rest of the way to his house in silence. Once there he climbed out and opened her door again, taking the pans and handing her his keys to open the door.
Jer turned around and eyed the backseat, then faced forward until they got back to his place. Okay, that was creepy on several levels. Really creepy. She made haste to get out of the car and up to his front door, which she definitely opened on his behalf. Just to get away from the Dead Girl Car. "Did you like the brownie? It didn't have the weed or booze in it..."
"Yeah. It was fine, baby." he told her as he headed inside after her and towards the kitchen. He sat the containers down and pulled his jacket off, returning to the entryway and hanging his jacket then locking the door and leaning against it. He let out a sigh and shook his head then ran his fingers across his face. It had been a long night. A night that he really just wanted to forget but every time he closed his eyes he could see Chrissy's half mangled face. He pushed off the door and pulled his shirt up and over his head, letting it drop to the floor.
Jer grabbed his hand and pulled him a little closer for a hug, this time not saying anything at all. She just wanted to hug him
Kavin sighed and let his arms move around the girl, turning his head to rest his cheek against the top of her head. "You were okay tonight?" he questioned, his fingertips moving slowly across her back.
"Worried sick, pacing the floor, probably fucked up my bloodsugar somehow, fretting, desperately trying not to call or message you every few minutes... yeah, I was okay. Not great though." Jer pressed her forehead against his. "Better now. Much better now."
He brushed his hands across her cheeks and tipped her head enough to catch her forehead with his lips. "I'm okay.." he said softly. "Really glad it's over..." he sighed. "Really glad... and really tired... and I just... wanna hold on to you honestly." Kavin took a breath and pulled her against him again, not caring if it hurt for her to press against his chest, damn it, he needed that closeness.
In return, she kissed his chin, then put her head on his shoulder, just cuddling him. She could've stayed like that for forever, but a few moments later she pulled away, just a bit. "Come on. Let's get you into bed before you crash completely." And Jer offered him a small smile and another chin kiss.
He nodded and followed her through the house to his bedroom, flicking off the lights as he went. He kicked his shoes off and thought about climbing in the shower first, but he half thought he'd fall asleep if he did. Socks were fumbled with and yanked off as he plopped on the edge of the bed and glanced up at her. Hands moving to the fastenings of his jeans. "Gonna keep me company?" he questioned.
Jerilyn pulled off her shirt and bra and tossed them into the corner for the time being, and pulled on a t-shirt that pulled double-duty as a pajama top. "Where else would I be? I didn't get any news of you pretty much all night; what makes you think I'm letting you out of the same room as me for at minimum an hour?" She gave him that half smile again, and ran a hand through his hair before pulling off her jeans and pulling on warm flannel pajama bottoms.
Kavin blinked as she stripped off her shirt and bra, right there in front of him. His mouth dropped open just a bit and he stared at her, having not expected that at all. She so had just gotten half naked, right there in front of him. Even when she smiled at him and ran her hand through his hair, he was concentrating on the burned mental image of her half naked body.
"What?" She gave him a puzzled look, then saw where he was staring and rolled her eyes. "Get into the damn bed, Kavin." Men. They could be exhausted, half drowned in dissipating adrenalin, and injured, and a little cleavage would still shut down their brain.
Kavin slowly shook his head and pulled his jeans off and climbed up into the bed. "You... you can't just get half naked in front of me and not warn a guy. That's totally unfair. Do you know when the last time I saw boobs in front of me with no clothing over them that weren't on television was?"
"Somehow I doubt that warning you would've helped any." Jeri climbed in beside him and promptly stuck her cold feet right against his. "Besides," she yawned, "you're not in much of a condition to do anything about it."
"Bullshit I'm not." he told her, reaching for her hand and sliding it beneath the blanket to run across his stomach and down the front of his boxers. He was obviously more than a little appreciative of the view. "So not fair." he stated again as he let go of her hand.
"Fine, I'll remember to be all 'Kavin, I'm about to strip in front of you because I want to put on my pajamas' next time. And just because some of the equipment's in full working order doesn't mean that all of it," and here she poked him at the wounds again, still lightly. "can be said the same for."
"Well you're not a guy." he told her. "Do you know what it's like to be so horny it hurts? Fuck, Jeri." he muttered. He sighed and laid on his back, then quickly decided against that position as he turned on his side, facing away from her. The last thing he needed was a pitched tent of a blanket for her to stare at.
Jeri frowned, then touched his shoulder gently. "Look, I didn't know you were watching, okay? I did it fast, and I didn't really... I didn't think. I'm sorry." Unsure of why he was facing away from her, Jer dropped her hand.
Kavin sighed, feeling like an ass as he rolled over and pulled her against him. "Don't be sorry." he told her. "I'm just tired and cranky and completely off my rocker apparently. Fucking hell." he muttered. "I'm not mad at you I'm just, I don't know..."
She held him tight, though she was mindful of his injuries. "You're just tired and cranky, and you had a hell of a night." And Jer kissed his forehead. "Don't worry about it. I understand."
"I'm sorry." he said anyway, fingertips sliding down her back slowly, comfortingly. Maybe not to her, but to him. The mere fact that she was there was good enough for him. "I didn't mean to be an ass, really." he promised.
"I know." Jer kissed him very gently and very sweetly. "I know. Go to sleep, Kavin. I'll be here when you wake up."
"I'm not ready to go to sleep yet." he complained. "I haven't seen you all damn night and I spent most of it wondering if I'd make it to this morning, I'll go to sleep when I pass out." he said with a little laugh and and exhale of breath.
"Well, at least stay here. I'm cold. You're a wonderful space heater." Jeri drew closer to him, tucked the comforter more tightly around herself and him, even putting it over her head until barely anything of her face was showing. "And we could talk. Um." She wanted to keep the subject away from what had happened that night, at least until he was more rested. "Those breasts you see on television. Nicer than mine?"
"Yours are real and they move when you do and they're actually in my bedroom, so I'd say right now they're a lot nicer." he said with a little smile, though a flush did move across his face. He was glad the curtains were closed and she probably couldn't see all that much of his coloring.
Her eyes were closed, so she couldn't see much of anything, and she didn't bother opening them. She made a soft, sleepy sound. "You're real and you move and you're here, and it's very nice as well. Let's stay this way for a while." Jer pressed her ear to his chest and listened to his heart for a second.
Kavin smiled. He couldn't help it. He slid his fingers lightly through her hair as she laid there against his bare chest. "Hear the werewolf in there?" he teased. "Maybe I'll turn and bite you." He smirked a little in the darkness, still brushing fingers through dark strands.
Jeri opened her eyes a little and smirked back at him. "Borderline bestiality at that point, isn't it?"
He chuckled. "You're a real pain." he teased, giving her hair a slight little tug. "Always being so mean to me." Kavin shifted a hand to lightly trail across her cheek. He let out a little sigh and leaned in to catch her lips with a soft little kiss. Guilt crawling up his back slowly but surely. He'd kissed Nate. He'd known what he was doing and he'd kissed him. And Jeri didn't even know. Completely oblivious. Kavin pulled out of the kiss and plastered on a smile. "You know you didn't have to wait up for me."
"Sometimes what you have to do and what you need to do are different things. I didn't have to wait up. But I needed too." She kissed him back, and then with one hand trailed down his spine lazily. "Not just because you've got a filthy mind with your bestiality ways. Because you're my friend. I just needed too."
"Oh, your friend, huh?" he questioned with a teasing little arch of his brow. "If we're just friends, do tell me why you're in my bed, woman." he grinned.
"Snuggling." Jeri replied with a definite smirk. "Cuddling. Warming up my cold-ass feet on yours, and my cold-ass hands on your back."
"Oh fine. I'll just leave then, friend." he said, slowly, carefully shifting away from the girl and sitting on the edge of the bed. He thought about getting up, but the sharp pain in his chest kept him from moving to far. His fingers trailed over the bandages and he let out a soft little groan of pain.
Jer sat up, frowning. "You weren't supposed to get up. God, I cannot talk when I'm tired. My brain and mouth don't connect." She crawled across the bedspread and kneeled behind him, putting her arms around Kavin loosely. "Of course you're my friend. You're more than my friend." She put a kiss right on the base of his skull, and another one on the back of his neck. "More than a friend with, and I admit they're kind of dull right now, benefits."
Kavin lightly rested his hands on hers as she draped them around his shoulders. "I know. Just teasing, but I'm exceptionally bad at it tonight." he sighed. "And hey, I got to see boobs, that's a benefit right there." he teased, turning his head enough to look at her.
She smiled at him a little. "Maybe when things calm down a bit more, you'll get to see them again. Maybe more then that. I don't know yet. But you'll be the first to know." And Jer kissed him.
He smiled lightly against the girls lips, but it faded after a short moment. He tilted his head just a bit to get a better angle against her mouth as he turned his body within the loop of her arms. His hands slid around her body, resting lightly against her back. It was an awkward position and it made his chest ache, but he didn't care. He wanted to kiss her, so that's what he did.
"I was going to kill you if you went and died." Jeri murmured to him quietly, kissing him back. "So it's a good thing you didn't." She made him turn back to a more comfortable position, and kissed each shoulder, then between his shoulder blades. "It's scary, waiting at home and not having any news or anything."
"I should have called you or something." he said softly as he leaned her down onto the bed, leaning half over her with one elbow propping him up against the mattress to support himself. He used the other hand to brush across her cheek. "Just caught up. Between figuring out if Peyton was alright, getting Skye to my mom's house and moving Chrissy's body. Not to mention finding Peyton's dad and brother and all that werewolf bullshit. And that was before midnight even rolled around." he sighed.
Sometimes, Jeri decided, a girl just didn't want to know the details. "Do I dare ask what happened after midnight? Should I expect this every full moon - that you go randomly fight big-bad-n-uglies while I bake in a frenzied fashion?" That was a hard question to ask, and she couldn't manage to ask it straight out either. Honestly, she didn't want to have to sit at home one night a month and just chew her nails to the quick worrying about him.
"I hope not." he sighed. He shrugged one shoulder though because he really couldn't answer that. "In a town like this you never really know. You know sometimes I'll have to leave." he said softly, blue eyes flicking down to catch hers. "Go out of town. Out of the country... doing stuff like I did tonight..."
Jeri burst out laughing. "Sure, sure. I bet you are, and it's not totally about getting it on with some fine hot European babes, right?" She was obviously teasing, and kissed him. "Yeah, I know. You get your ass dead over there, and I'm still going to kill you, you feel me?"
He forced a smile, though ending up dead didn't seem to be something he wanted to think about. "Yeah. I feel you." he smirked. The hand that wasn't draped over her to keep his balance, slid down her cheek and neck and between her breasts to rest lightly against her stomach as he leaned in to get another kiss. "And you feel pretty damn good."
That, for some reason, reminded her to pick up some more body lotion next time she went shopping. "Good." She nodded approvingly at the compliment. "By the way, if you manage to make it with some hot French twins or something over there, I want video evidence." She grinned, raised herself up on her elbows, and kissed him - and it was a harder, hotter kiss then the little butterfly kisses she was giving before.
He would have commented about the French twins, but her mouth was on his and in that instant his brain shut off completely of everything aside from his lips and moving them against hers. His hands caught up with his brain after a moment, the free one sliding back up her chest and neck to catch her cheek and pull her deeper still into the kiss. Lips parted over her bottom lip and teeth tugged gently.
Jeri sighed a (very happy indeed) sigh, not objecting and whole-heartedly encouraging the deepening of the kiss. The idea that they were very dumb and masochistic people to keep teasing themselves like this wandered through her head, but Jeri stomped the idea into the dust of her mental landscape. One hand trailed down his spine, stopping at the small of his back, and pressed there.
Kavin wasn't objecting to the kiss either. Not even when his tongue touched hers and her fingers slid across his spine, over his warm skin and rested against his back. He let out a little groan of a noise against her lips. His hand switching directions yet again to slide back down her body to her hip this time, resting there with a light little squeeze for just a moment before slipping just a bit further up and beneath her shirt. Bare skin against his fingertips, right there above her waist. He didn't move farther yet. Half expecting to get shooed away.
Jeri did take his hand, but she didn't shoo him away so much as prevent him from going anywhere. "Kavin... I think. I think we get really hot and heavy together whenever we have the chance." This was was a conversation that actually made her blush right to the roots of her hair. "Um. I think, next time I go to the doctor, I should probably get birth control. Y'know. Just in case."
His eyes were on hers as she spoke, watching the blush flood across her face, though it was only slightly visible with the dim light coming in through the window. Kavin couldn't help but feel a little bit like a jerk. Like he was pushing her into something she wasn't ready for. He pulled his hand away from hers and moved it up to her cheek again. His brows furrowed slightly as he opened his mouth to speak. "You don't have to do that." he told her, shaking his head just a bit, shaggy hair shifting with the movement. "We don't have to... to go that far. I'm not... you don't have to do that." he repeated.
"Kavin, I hate to tell you this but my boyfriend is really damn hot and really damn sexy and somewhere in the middle of making out with said boyfriend? I stop thinking. Seriously. Brain just goes numb. God, this is embarrassing. Ugh. Look, I think this is seriously something I really, really should do." She gave him a sheepish grin.
He raised a brow at her as she explained all of that, the slightly concerned 'I'm a jerk' feelings dissipating almost instantly. "Is that like a really confusing way of saying you want to sleep with me?" he asked her. "You know, they do have this really handy invention. It's called a condom. It works. You should try it." he teased, unable to help trying to make her blush just a little more.
"Oh my God I am not trusting only a damn condom!" Her face heated up instantly. Sort of like those chemical heaters you broke and stuck in your gloves when it was really, really cold out.
Jer swatted his rear end. "You know those things don't always work, right? I'd kind of like to have something to back it up."
He couldn't help but smile at the girls slight embarrassment. "They work most of the time. The majority of the time. But if you want to take a pill every day, that's your choice, baby." he shrugged. "I'm just saying that you don't have to. I've gone without sex this long, it's not going to hurt me to go a while longer. But see, sex and touching are two different things."
"So close and yet so far." Jeri said, in an almost whining tone.
"So should I like... not make out with you or touch you or kiss you or look at you like I'm picturing you naked til you get on the pill?" he questioned, raising a brow. "Would that make things easier for you?"
"God no. You try withholding and I might have to tie you down." Jeri tried for a grouchy voice and didn't come up with one very well at all. "But hey, now you can have a better, more accurate image for the naked bit." She was a very helpful young lady.
"Must you torture me?" he questioned. He slid his hands down to the hem of her shirt, slowly trailing it up enough to expose her stomach. He leaned then, getting in a non-hurting position so he could press his lips lightly against her flesh. If she was going to torture him with thoughts of her naked body, he was going to torture her with the feel of his mouth on her skin.
"Gah!" Jeri squeaked and made to curl up in a ball to protect her tummy, like a hedgehog. "Don't! That tickles!" Because it did, and he was kind of scruffy which added to the tickling. Lovely.
He chuckled, sliding upwards again and pulling her towards him. He worked the covers out from beneath their bodies and pulled them up around her shoulders. "Let's try to get some sleep." he sighed. "We'll talk about condoms, death and all that tomorrow, okay?" Kavin kissed her forehead and curled up close to her, resting his chin on the top of her head. "Night... or morning. Whatever."
Jeri cuddled up to him under the blanket and kissed his chest lightly. "Goodnight, Kavin. Sleep well."
