Meeting Isaac

skye-two

Who: Isaac and Skye
Where: MSHS
When: Between 1st and 2nd Period

Skye had gotten out of class a couple minutes early by way off taking some papers down to the office for her first class' teacher, and sort of wandering around until the bell rang. So she already had her books and things, and she was just sort of lazily meandering towards second period when she was pushed a little from behind, which caused her to run into... well, she couldn't tell. Shirts looked generally alike to her. At least she didn't drop her books this time. She looked up to the face that belonged to the shirt. "Sorry about that! It's a bit crowded."

Isaac had been digging around in his locker when he was struck from behind by somebody. He looked around and down at his assailant, catching the apology. He offered her a bright grin. "No worries, happens to the best of us. Glad I padded you from going face-first into the lockers," he said, friendly enough. He kind of vaguely recognized her as new. And sort of hanging around with Chrissy, which wasn't the best sign, but it wasn't his style to judge people just by who they hung out with. "Isaac St James, don't think we've met yet," he said, sticking his hand out to her.

Skye took his hand and shook it, grinning brightly. "Hi, I'm Skye Craddock. And now we have. Thank you for the rescue - I'm obviously very delicate and a mere touch of a locker would completely destroy me." She added with mock seriously, then completely ruined it by breaking into that bright grin all over again. "I think I remember you - Kavin's party, right? With the band?"

"You're totally welcome. They're vicious," he agreed, grinning back. He rapped his knuckles on the locker next to his, just to prove that point, even though it didn't really do anything but make a noise. "Yeah, with the band. I'm the bass player," Isaac told her, pleased that she'd made the connection. "It was a good time, right? I think I've seen you around a couple of places, homecoming too. Did you just move?"

"Yeah, I just moved here a couple weeks ago, actually. From up north. And west. Um. That way-ish." She gestured in the correct general direction. "To be ever so slightly more specific, I'm from Canada." Skye pursed her lips, thinking for a moment. "St. James? I could swear I've heard that surname before."

Isaac chuckled. Canadians weren't terribly unusual on the UP, but still, cool. "Well welcome to being a little farther south," he told her with an easy grin. As for his name? "I've got a sister here, Kaysen? You might've heard of her." Especially if she was buddy-buddy with Chrissy.

Skye couldn't suppress the wince. "Oh. I've met her. She seemed..." hellish? full of curse words? demonic? loud? "...nice. Before she recognized me, anyway. From what I understand of the entire thing, she and Chrissy have a history together, though. So, yeah." Skye shrugged. What else was she supposed to say, really?

He wasn't really surprised at the reaction, though he was instinctively pushed to defend his sister. "Well, Chrissy's kind of tortured her for years, so I guess you could say that," he said, though he kept his smile on. And now she's doing it to my best friend, too. Good choice for a BFF you've got there. But that was cynical. He shrugged a shoulder. "Sorry, though, I know Kaysen can be ... harsh. It's not personal, she's like that with a lot of people." Too many, really. He'd tried to tell her before she couldn't combat her reputation with more hatred, but she had reason not to listen.

"The problem is that I really don't see her do these kinds of things, and Chrissy's been nothing but nice to me, y'know? And honestly I don't think I deserved to get yelled at, cursed at, and insulted by Kaysen when she didn't even know me. So I personally think I'm understandably biased in my friend's favor." Skye shrugged. "But! I didn't stop to talk to you about that entire situation, I stopped to talk to... well, avoid being smushed into lockers and apologize for being pushed into you, and also to compliment you on your band's performance. Which I will now do. You guys were very good."

"Like I said, she can be harsh," Isaac said with a kind of uncomfortable shrug. He had no control over how his sister treated people. And just because he happened to think that this girl would learn what Chrissy was really like soon enough didn't mean she was wrong about not deserving that sort of treatment. "Thanks though, we do our best. Glad you enjoyed," he added to the compliment with a smile. He pulled the last book he needed out of his locker and shut it again.

"You're welcome. And, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to wander towards my class and... presumably learn important things that will no doubt help me in whatever the future may hold. Have a very good day." Skye smiled a little more at him, and adjusted the books in her arms to a slightly more comfortable position.

"You too, it was nice meeting you," he told her, giving an amused grin. Yeah, everybody knew how useful high school was actually going to be. Isaac tipped her a little wave and headed off toward his own class.
