More Friendly Girls?
Who: Alexis, Breezy, and Nate
Where: MSHS hallways
When: After last class
History. Last class of the day and Nate couldn't wait until it was over. He was already in the classroom when he spotted Alexis come in but with the busy room and the distance between them he couldn't get her attention. And man, was he sleepy. History didn't make for good keep me awake subject, at least not the way it was being this particular afternoon and he had trouble staying awake and ended up dozing on his table. Luckily he didn't snore or talking his sleep or anything and the teacher left him alone.
When the bell finally rang he caught Alexis by the door, nudging her gently in the arm. "Hey, remember me? The fence owner." Like she'd forgotten already, it had only been yesterday. But it was kind of funnier to say it like this.
Monday was always the hardest, getting back into the school mindset after a good weekend. And Alexis had had a damn good weekend. The only good thing about it ending was that it put a few more days in between so she could figure out when she might see Kyle again. How soon was to soon to call? She just needed to catch one of the girls and get their thoughts-- which worked out perfectly since she saw Breezy heading towards her as she stepped out of History class. She was about to wave when a familiar face caught her attention.
"Nate," Alexis smiled, "The parade watcher. I'm not that forgetful. I didn't realize I had a class with you." She remembered he was new, but was he so new that this was his first day? Or had she just not seen him before because she didn't know to look for him? "Have you met Breezy?" she asked as the blond stepped up to join them. "We're on the dance team together."
Breezy, who was coming down the hall at fastest possible speed. She had to talk to one of the girls about that bastard she'd met this morning, and dammit, she hadn't been able to nab Lily today. She'd ended up with detention over lunch period for being late - THANKS TO DICKHEAD! She was around the corner and already about to start bitching before she realized that Alexis A) wasn't even fully out of her class yet, and B) was already talking to someone. Well, crap. What was a girl to do with all this anger? Then she heard herself introduced, and quickly turned on a smile. God bless her. "Hi!"
"Dance team, now that makes too much sense," Nate said with a grin, remembering how hard it had been for Alexis to sit still. "Hey," he added, directed at Breezy. "Don't know if we have, were you at Kavin's party?" If they'd met there he was legally excused, or illegally, depending on how they looked at it. In either case he'd been pretty damn toasted.
"Why's that?" Alexis asked with good humor. "Cause we're both blondes?" As she asked, she bounced slightly, cocking her head to the side before she rolled her eyes. "We haven't even gotten to perform yet. No picking," she grinned before her attention turned to Breezy, letting her answer the question. She was curious about the amount of energy her friend seemed to have, and would have asked what was up if Nate wasn't there. That conversation could wait till practice.
Now this guy managed to make a dance team comment without sounding like a total asshole. Amazing how that worked! Fucking people. Breezy traded her bright smile in for a big pout. "I didn't hear about any party." she said, sighing dramatically. "Newbies don't get invites, I guess. Someone's going to have to clue me in for the next one."
"Is blondness a requirement for the dance team?" Nate asked with a grin and shook his head. "Was more thinking of how much you wanted to dance yesterday. I just got here, haven't had time to read up on the dance team rules." Not that he ever would, it was a joke and an obvious one just by looking at him. "But yeah, hey. I'm Nate," he told Breezy. "I thought everyone got an invite, do you know Kavin?" He glanced at Alexis and added, "And know where he'd be right about now?"
"It's the party I went to with Kyle," Alexis said, then bit her lip. She so would have dragged Breezy there if she'd not had a date. "I promise I won't go to another without you, though I'm barely more a newbie than you are. And Nate's a newbie too! Except he doesn't want to be referred to as one," she grinned, giving Nate a quick wink. "And, no, blondness is not a requirement. Lily's a definite brunette. Kavin though? Um... I dunno. Isn't he dating Charlotte? Maybe he's with her?" It was a random guess, based on what she knew about couples.
Breezy's pout easily changed back to a bright smile. "Oh, date parties are totally excusable. Next time just let me know and I'll crash." she added, slyly. "And I don't know anybody. I know like, three people in this school, if you're not counting my brothers." she said, slightly apologetically to Nate. "But if Kavin's the party-throwing type I want to know him. Uh, in the non-girlfriend-threatening way."
"You know about as many as I do then," Nate said and moved to let someone out of the classroom. "Just got here last week, this is my first day in school and all." They both seemed sweet and he thought of what Eris had told him. Find some innocent little thing at school and try to get into their dreams. Someone sweet, less likely to have fucked up nightmares than say, a hunter. He wondered if he could focus on that, going into a specific person's dream. "Well, Kavin is Kyle's friend and you're Alexis' friend so, shouldn't be too tricky to get to know him." What with Alexis and Kyle being maybe together. He turned his attention to Alexis again and gave her a small, hopeful smile. "So, I kind of missed like half the class just now. Was there anything important going on?"
"Hey, I'm still working on the whole getting-to-know-people thing, but I'll introduce you both to anyone I've met," Alexis offered. It seemed like a good way to get her network going, connecting one new friend to another. Even if it would suck when she moved away next year, at least this year would rock. "I'll let you copy my notes," Alexis said with a little smirk. Nate would get along fine with Kyle, she could already tell. "Nothing too important. No homework tonight."
"Sounds like I picked the right friends then." Breezy said, grinning widely. She was eternally grateful that Alexis moved so fast in setting up a social network. Faster than she did at least. "Much appreciated. I need all the friends I can get."
Nate grinned at that. "I'd introduce you to Kavin but you're halfway there already, knowing Kyle and all." He skimmed the hallway and wondered if Kavin was anywhere around but their class had been running a little late so walking home it was. "And I probably have some notes still from the last time I took this class but I don't know if they're actually teaching the same stuff."
"Maybe we can all get together and do something this coming weekend. Not a party, but just... a get together," Alexis suggested. She was hoping to have one night to save for a date, should that happen, but another night with a big group of friends would be fun. "I'd say we could do it at my house, but I don't really know if my dad will be there or not. I need to check on that." Because she was not having them over with him there to supervise.
Breezy's eyes lit up at the idea of anything even remotely resembling a party. "That'd be great!" she said. "And if your dad isn't down... maybe we can all go out somewhere. Marquette has to have something to do on the weekends. It's getting cold, but if it stops raining we could have a bonfire sometime." Okay, her mind went a million miles a minute at the idea of social teenager funtime. Sue her.
Nate had to wonder if they were including him in their grandiose plans. "I think Kavin should be persuaded into throwing a party," he said. "And this time we'll make sure you're invited," he added to Breezy. "The last party went pretty smoothly and this time Charlie might be able to come so he shouldn't be too hard to convince.
"You wanna ask him?" Alexis said, her attention jumping between the two. "Does he have a yard? A bonfire would be awesome, but we probably need an open field or something, not just a backyard. Could we put together a fall get together or something?" She was mixing the ideas, excited about any prospect that allowed her to hang out with friends.
"This is awesome, we're damn near throwing a party at someone else's house." Breezy said, having to laugh out loud at the idea. "Well if Kavin isn't down, we could do it at the beach - weather providing." she said. "I've explored a lot and there are some great spots for that sort of thing."
"Uh-huh, I'd be spending my time in the car," Nate said. "Too damn cold up here for a beach party if you ask me. Weren't you from somewhere warm too?" He asked Alexis, he should remember but he'd met so many new people in such a short time and most of them seemed to be from somewhere else.
"It's a bonfire," Alexis laughed, "It's okay if it's cold around, since we'll all be huddled near the fire to keep warm. But, yeah, I was from Arizona last, and I grew up in Florida. I'm used to the warm weather, but I'd take any excuse to hang out by the beach." Even if she couldn't play with the water with so many other people around, just being near the ocean was soothing.
"You're a guy, you're supposed to have tactics for getting warm." Breezy pointed out, smirking at the idea. Shy she was not. "Besides - fire equals hot. I promise you you'll survive." she encouraged. "What part of bonfires and s'mores isn't awesome? Seriously."
"Tactics, huh?" Nate muttered and smirked before shaking his head. "Big-ass bonfire then. That might get me down to the beach. So what sort of beach is it anyway? Rocks or sand?" He realized he hadn't done a great job of the whole exploring town thing, most of his time had been spent stoned on Kavin's couch so far.
"We'll invite our friends," Alexis promised. "If you can't find a way to keep warm besides the fire and the girls, then you're on your own," she teased lightly. "I think there's a little of both. I've wandered down near the shore, and it depends on where you set up. Is one better for a bonfire than the other?" Fire was not her expertise.
"Sand." Breezy confirmed. "I'll pick us a good spot." she promised. "I met Gabe Winters the other day and he's like, Mr. Popularity, he probably knows where they usually do this. I'll get a location from him, maybe. And I think us newbies are going to have to invite everybody we know." she added with a grin. What better way to meet people! "If nothing else I'm sure a few of my brothers will want to go, they're a horde all by themselves."
Nate laughed. "Generally it's us guys who have to keep you girls warm, give up our jackets and shit because you are all wearing way too little." He turned his attention to Breezy then, quirking a brow. "Oh yeah? How many brothers have you got?" He asked, the concept of siblings always weird to him, especially a 'horde' of them.
"I think you need snuggling lessons." Breezy said, smirking again. "Seven." she answered. "Three I'd actually invite, two that'll probably have any interest. If you ever see an old VW bus in the parking lot full of crazy blonde guys? That's the Barrow horde. Two of them go to this school, one's my twin brother."
"Sounds... fun," Nate replied, clearly amused. "And what, are you offering?" He teased, challenging her a little. "I probably do," he added, pursing his lips as he thought about it or at least pretended to.
Alexis giggled, eyes shifting between the two. If they were going to start flirting, she wondered if she was supposed to disappear or what, but for now she hung around. "I'd offer, but Kyle might be opposed," she said, waiting to see what Breezy added in.
"Oh, I'm an expert snuggler." Breezy said, knowing that she was so epically full of shit, but dammit, when did Breezy Barrow back down from a challenge? Abso-fuckin-lutely never, that's when. And he was cute. "Yeah, we don't want to leave Kyle out, that'd be bad." she agreed, grinning.
"I guess he can snuggle too," Nate sighed, feigning defeat. "But yeah, I'll talk to Kavin and see if we'll be needing those snuggles or just doing them for fun." If nothing else, Marquette seemed to have plenty of friendly girls.
"It'll be a group snuggle," Alexis smirked. "Tell the boys that, and as long as we can provide enough girls, I can guarantee we'll have a crowd." She couldn't help but laugh at the rumors that could start. "So you got the hookup on who to talk to? How to get something like this set up?" Alexis asked Breezy. "And you think you can get the boys there?" she asked Nate. "Cause if so, I say we try and set a date."
"Hey, you don't get the entire dance team to yourself. Two thirds tops." Breezy told Nate, grinning widely. "I might. Gabe's like, king of the damn school. If anyone knows he will. And if he doesn't, he has friends. I'll invite the entire damn hockey team if I have to." Hey, that would be one hell of a snuggle party.
"I'm pretty sure you're better at bringing the boys than I am," Nate chuckled. "But I'll make sure the right people hear about it and do my best and all that. Might be better to know where we're going first though so, we'll hit this thing full force mid-week or something, deal?"
"Deal," Alexis grinned, excited about the prospect that had popped up out of nowhere. She'd have to start making phone calls as soon as Breezy got an idea on the specifics of the event. Midweek sounded just about right. "We've gotta run to dance practice," she told Nate. "Wanna follow us over? Or we'll catch you later? Can I get your number, just in case?"
"Yeah of course," Nate replied and shouldered his backpack before following the two girls down the hall. He waited for Alexis to find her phone before reciting the number to her. "Can text me whenever, never know when I sleep so it doesn't matter," he admitted.
As Nate rattled off is phone number, Breezy was entering it in her phone as well. Couldn't hurt. As long as her mom didn't get nosy and find guys in her phone. "Careful what you say." she teased. "I never sleep. You may end up with four am texts."
"Well if I don't answer I'm dead to the world," Nate chuckled. "But four am sounds like a good time to be awake." His curiosity was peaked though. "You never sleep? Why?"
"Got a bunch of night owls here," Alexis snickered, one to stay up late as well... but not all night. She waited to hear the answer that Breezy might come up with. She hadn't realized her friend didn't sleep.
Shit. She'd said that out loud, hadn't she? Breezy smiled and shrugged it off. "Everyone sleeps, I just don't sleep a lot. Insomniac, I guess. Think it runs in the family." To put it mildly. Although only spinners had that particular perk. "So you guys can shoot me a message any time you can't sleep."
"Does that mean I get your numbers?" Nate asked with a small smile. It was usually the polite thing to do to let the girls get the number and do the calling. That's what his buddy back in Austin had always said. Girls are scared of stalkers and crazies so just give them your number and hope they're not the stalkers and crazies..
"Hmm," Alexis said, as if considering it, her finger resting on her lips. "I guess so," she grinned, "Long as you don't turn all stalker on me. I mean, if I see you peering in my window? I might just have to kick your ass." Alexis held out her hand for his phone, ready to enter her number in. Hopefully he wasn't a psycho, but if he was, she thought she could handle it.
Breezy was grinning brightly again, just as willing to hand over her phone number. Yes, please! "I suppose I'm down, too." she agreed, following Alexis' lead. "If I'm going to be sending random four AM texts, it's the least I can do."
"Promise I'm not a stalker," Nate replied, letting them take the phone and punch in their numbers. "And if I was, I wouldn't be stupid enough to stalk the two of you. You with Kyle and you with... what? A horde of crazy blond brothers? I mean, maybe if they weren't blond but, damn. Not going there." He smirked and waited to get his phone back.
"And you think Kyle's the dangerous one," Alexis snickered, handing the phone off to Breezy. Little did he know what she could get up to, given the opportunity. Of course, should Nate actually do something out of line, she'd let Kyle come to her rescue if needed. It seemed more appropriate than going after Nate herself. She might scare him! Ha!
Breezy laughed loudly, amused with Alexis' comment. She wondered if the girl really could kick someone's ass. If anyone, Alexis or Lily wouldn't surprise her. And the three of them would be a deadly tag team. She entered her number in and handed Nate's phone back to him. "Okay, you've got the hook-up. Better use it sometime."
"Will do," Nate replied with an easy smile. "Don't be shy neither, both of you," he added though he would probably be genuinely surprised if either of them called. It'd likely mean girls would slowly stop being such a mystery and become something more resembling human in his world. Bizarre.
