A New Start

Who: Medea and Isabelle and OPEN FOR ANYONE
When: Late morning
Where: Their new house/AROUND TOWN

Moving to Marquette was hardly an issue for Isabelle; after all, the only person she cared about in Iron Mountain was her sister, and Medea was coming with. It was only an hour away, but really, that was all the girls needed. An hour was enough distance to ensure no one had heard of them - or had heard of the 'tragedy' that surrounded them. It was also a delightfully fresh canvas with which to play.

Tossing her duffel bag on her bed in the girls' shared room, Isabelle checked out the view from the window and dropped down onto the mattress, tucking her legs up. "Still small, but it could be worse," she said. She'd like to stay in a big city one day - the things they could do here could be so much better in a city of millions.

Medea dropped her own bag down on the floor at the foot of the other bed, and looked around. "It'll do." she said. She went to the window and opened it, to get some fresh air into the room. The place smelled a little too much like Child for her. They had other foster siblings in the house, of course. They'd been specifically placed in a 'family unit'. Probably to help them 'move on'. Well, they could play nice for a while. They only had to hold out until she was eighteen. Then they could probably get their own place, with the insurance money that was owed her. "School on monday...should be interesting." she said, eyes out the window, then she turned to let her eyes rest on her sister. "Where do we want to start?" she asked with a smile.

"Hmm," Isabelle mused thoughtfully. "We'll want to get the measure of the place, first. See what we've got to work with. Join some clubs, keep our ears open. I'm sure there's all sorts of opportunity just waiting to be exploited. It's a shame we didn't get here in time to check it out today, but we can always go explore the town first." See if she couldn't get her hands on some cash to redecorate. There was entirely too much pink and lace in this bedroom. Too much time spent here would make her sick.

"Yes, that is a shame. But, it means we can have two days to get around town, see who we can meet, and start fresh on Monday. It's friday, there should be a party to crash, shouldn't there?" she asked. "We could happen by. See what we can see." There usually were parties, and the town wasn't that big. They could find something to do, she was positive. Then they'd start with simple conversation. People gave away so much, if you just sat and listened.

"I saw some fliers around town when we were driving through," Isabelle said, nodding. "We can always grab one of those and see what it is. Someone around here is bound to be having a party. We'll just have to nose around until we find it." She loved hanging around drunk teenagers. They were so easy to manipulate. Hell, half the time whatever you told them didn't even need to make sense. Tell a drunkie how they should be feeling and they just went with it - and half the time didn't remember who'd told them in the first place.

"Fliers?" Medea asked. She'd had her nose in a book. She was the one who was constantly studying, and today had been no different, just because they had been moving towns. It wasn't like it mattered where they ended up, so long as they were together, and it was far enough away from Iron Mountain that no one knew who they were. "Interesting, we'll have to see. Maybe there's more to do in this town than home."

"Yeah, pretty much everywhere," Isabelle told her. "Someone wants the whole town to know abut whatever it is. If it's a lost dog, though, I'm going to kick someone. Or find the dog and kill it. Don't waste resources for a damn animal. There was some traffic heading off towards a different part of town, though. Maybe something's going on over there. Didn't Susie Sunshine downstairs say something about a circus as we drove through?"

"Mm, I believe so." Medea said. "We could always go for a walk...see what it's all about." she said. "See if we can't find anyone our own age to mix with." She would have no real interest with the circus, but around the UP, one had to take their entertainment where they could get it. Which meant people would likely be around it. They could check out the fliers, and see what they could hear from locals. It was worth the walk. That, and they would need to know their way around. It wouldn't do to not, with their types of plans. They needed to know the town, and they needed to know the highschool students.

Isabelle checked her watch. "Anyone our own age will likely still be in school for a couple more hours," she mused. "We might as well check out the town, grab a flier, start familiarizing ourselves with the place. We can get plenty done before it's time to start hunting schoolchildren." Because it wasn't as if she was interested in making real friends. She had all the friend she needed in her sister.

"Sounds like a good idea...I figure we can get Angie and Darren to put our things away for us, or at least put them in the room." she said, figuring manipulating other foster siblings would be a breeze. "Then we'll have more free time." Medea suggested.

Isabelle's nose wrinkled. "We can have them bring our things up, sure," she said, "but I don't want any sticky jam fingers touching my stuff - I'll do my own unpacking, I think." It wasn't as if she really had that much, anyway. Being in the foster system and constantly moving meant that she'd learned the benefits of traveling light. More or less. "We can get them to do it on our way out."

"Excellent." Medea said, turning towards the door, and she held out her hand for her sister. "Shall we?" she asked. No time like the present. That was one of the things about the both of them. They went out and made their own destines. They didn't wait for things to fall in their laps.

With a grin that would look as normal and friendly as any almost-seventeen year old girl, Isabelle bounced off the bed to take her sister's hand. "We shall," she said, already looking forward to the secrets they might dig up.
