Not Really A Lecture

Who: Dorian and Caleb
Where: The Lockwood Residence
When: Evening

After talking to Eury, Dorian felt significantly better... at least about Tensiel. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but if the girl showed back up at his house again, then he wouldn't worry so much about taking her in. That taken care of, he had yet to talk to Caleb about it, though they'd had little time to catch each other since that morning. Evening set in and Dorian knocked on Caleb's door, a better start than he'd had that morning. Time to cool down definitely helped a bit.

Caleb glanced up then got up to open the door. "Hey." he said, sort of knowing this was coming, but that didn't make it easier to deal with. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, and went to sit back down on his bed.

"Hey," Dorian said, only moving in enough to lean in the door frame for now, his arms crossed over his chest. So he hadn't quite figured out what he was going to say ahead of time. As a result, he went with the first thing that came to mind. "You are so fuckin' lucky you're with me and not Mom."

Caleb sat back against his wall and scowled. "Actually if I was with mom, she wouldn't have noticed." he said drily, looking away. "But whatever. Anyways. I couldn't just let her go off on her own, y'know? She was just kinda...sorry." he sighed.

"Really?" he asked, now stepping into the room. "She really wouldn't have noticed?" The question was sincere because, for Dorian, there'd have been some kind of explosion. It made him wonder if they had two different sets of parents. "I wouldn't have put her out either," he admitted. "But I was... perturbed when you didn't come home last night." His arms uncrossed, his thumbs sticking into his pockets. "I was worried about you, too."

"...well technically I did come home. I just didn't come in the front door." Caleb said. "I wasn't even out late. Sorry, I didn't think you'd be like...waiting up." he admitted. He really hadn't. "And yeah, they probably wouldn't have noticed." he added, looking pointedly away.

Dorian sighed. "Well, I didn't think you'd like... climb in the window," he admitted. It was a stunt he might have pulled, but Caleb never seemed the type. Maybe they were more alike than he realized, except for the issue with their parents. That was something Dorian hadn't even seen coming till Caleb arrived. "I'm sorry," he said, taking a seat on the chair at the desk. "I haven't been home. I don't really know what's going on."

Caleb shrugged, trying to blow it off. "Doesn't really matter." he said. "But Ten. She can stay? For a little while?" he asked. "I don't know where else she'll go. And she's...y'know. Crazy. But not bad-crazy."

"It does matter. I don't know what to do about it, but it does. Just... Just remember that I'm not them, okay?" Because being blamed for another's sins? Not fun. "Yeah, sure, she can stay. Not in here," he laughed a little. "But she can stay. For now." He bit the end of his tongue, then shook his head. "How the hell did you meet her? Cause she's a little nutty."

Caleb would have liked to have said more on the topic of their parents, but he didn't. Instead he moved forward to Ten. "She pulled up beside me while I was walking and asked where she could get a fish sandwich." he said. "Then I was going to take her to Vangos so she could get one, and it kind of came out that she didn't actually have anywhere to go, and she literally just got here."

"She eats fish?" Dorian asked, frowning slightly. Fish were... not his friend. "It just seems kind of odd. Like, where did she come from? Why is no one looking for her? Someone has to know she's missing..." Dorian shrugged. "I'm gonna set up the air mattress in the dining room, since I don't, you know, have a dining room table. She can stay for a while, so long as I don't have to cook fish for her."

"I'm pretty sure she can get it elsewhere." Caleb said drily. "But anyways...she can stay in here, I could just sleep on the couch or something..." he started.

"No," Dorian objected with a smile. "She'll be just fine in the dining room. It's got curtains on the windows, doors she can close, and the air mattress is almost as good as a bed. It doesn't make sense to put her in here, but I applaud you for chivalry."

Caleb blushed and was fidgeting with a string on the end of his pant leg for something to occupy his attention. "Whatever." he muttered, not really going for the whole chivalry thing. Or so he was maintaining, flying in the face of all logic.

Dorian smirked. He couldn't help it. Course, this wasn't the lecture Caleb would have gotten that morning, but by now he wasn't entirely in the mood. "Yeah, whatever," he said. "So is she coming back? Is that what ya'll decided?" It sounded like it, but he just wanted to make sure.

"Yeah, I guess. She was going to go out and around, then come back." he said. "So...expect someone in the dining room then I guess. I still say she could stay in here." he added.

"And I still say she'll be fine there," Dorian grinned, standing back up. It appeared as if this issue had been resolved as best it could be. "Though next time you want to bring a girl home? Use the front door," he winked.

Caleb groaned and glared at his brother. "Get out." he complained. "It's not like she's a girlfriend! Just...a girl. That's all!" Gah. Embarrassing.

"Yeah, sure," Dorian chuckled, heading for the door. He had to pick on Caleb, especially after finding him on the floor that morning, with a girl in his bed. It was his duty, after all.
