Personal Invitation
Who: Kyle and Alexis
When: Morning
Where: Chemistry class
It had been a long night with Kavin, even longer once the guy had left as Kyle spent most of the rest of the night on the internet researching detox. It sounded dangerous, and painful, and he was more than ready to text Kavin throughout the day to check on him. At least to make sure he was still conscious. Being tired meant that he didn't shoot any hoops that morning, and his homework had been left untouched, which meant another lecture from his tutor during lunch. Rubbing his eyes as he walked into chemistry class, Kyle set his bag on the table and rested his head on it before closing his eyes. He could do a five minute nap. Eight minutes if the teacher was slow in getting class started.
"Rough night?" Alexis asked as she strolled into class, taking her seat beside Kyle at the lab table. She couldn't tell if he was tired or sick, but he didn't look all that great either way. It'd been a while since she'd seen him with his head down on his desk. Then again, his friends seemed to have a lot going on in their lives lately and maybe it was dragging him down. She heard enough about them from everyone else that he didn't even have to tell her.
Kyle lifted his head when Alexis came in and offered a tired smile while he rubbed his eyes. It would be nice to have someone to talk to about the Kavin issue, but he'd promised to stay quiet. "Something like that, yeah. How about you?" he asked, smiling sleepily at her as he rested his head on his head to watch her. "How was your night?"
"Kinda lame," she said, unloading her bookbag as she spoke. "Went to dance practice after school, then home, had dinner, did homework. That sort of thing." It had really been a pretty slow night in her opinion. "Wanna talk about it?" she asked, mirroring his position as she turned her attention completely towards him. "Or just wanna nap?" she asked with a little smile.
"Nothing much to talk about," Kyle said. "Just homework stuff, and friend stuff. It gets tiring after awhile. Sounds like you had a busy night though. How was dance practice?" He wished he could nap. Really, Kyle figured he should have stayed home and just slept all day.
"It was good," she smiled. "We're performing at your game tomorrow." Which she was hella nervous about. Their first game and her first public performance as a member of the dance team. It was normal high school fun, she supposed, but that didn't mean she was used to it. "You excited about it? The game, I mean." Not her performing. Oh God, that wasn't what she meant!
He smiled, pleased to hear she would be there, even if it was to dance. "I'm excited about the game," he said with a nod. "We're more than ready to beat some ass. I'm glad you'll be there. I won't be able to watch you, since it'll be between periods, but maybe you can dance it for me afterward." He lifted his eyebrow suggestively. "Alone, or something."
"Maybe," she grinned, her cheeks turning pink at the suggestion. "You should come to our practice sometime." Not that that wouldn't have her nervous as hell. "Do you have plans after the game? Does the team go out? Or are you free to hang for a bit? Not that I'm going to give you a free dance or anything," she laughed, "but it could be fun."
"Maybe I will," Kyle said with a small nod. "I don't think there are any plans for after the game. If we lose, I highly doubt anyone'll want to go out and hang. So we can do something, if you want. It's okay if you don't want to give me a free dance. I'll pay for it, if you want," he added with a soft laugh.
"Hmm," Alexis said, as if considering it. "What kind of payment are we talking about?" Because she really didn't want him trying to stick dollars in her bloomers. That wouldn't be cool at all, but maybe if he were offering kisses... "I'd like to hang out, though maybe I should tell you first that I wanna claim you for Friday night. We're gonna have a bonfire down by the water."
Kyle pretended to think it over for a few seconds before his eyes fell back to hers. "Really good payment. Like, going with you to the bonfire and kissing the hell out of you payment. If the dance is worth it of course," he added with a wider grin, just to be mildly obnoxious.
"Oh, don't even!" she laughed, hitting him lightly on the arm. "We're not gonna talk about the hell I'd give you if you deemed the dance not worth it," she grinned. "But what do you know about building a bonfire? Cause we kinda planned a party without figuring that out first. I was hoping you might be able to help me."
"I can help you build the fire," Kyle agreed, rubbing his palm against his forehead briefly. "My uncle and I used to go camping when I was younger. He taught me how to build a fire, maintain a fire... among other things. So yeah, I'll help. How's that for payment?" He lifted his eyebrows hopefully because he did want to see her dance. Preferably in skimpy, tight clothes but he'd take what he could get.
"Fabulous," Alexis grinned. "You'd definitely get a private dance for that kind of payment." And, yes, she realized just how dirty that sounded. Hopefully he realized that her type of dancing didn't involve a pole or stripping, cause that was a no go in her opinion. She didn't even want to know where a boy mind might go with what she'd given him. "Anyone you wanna invite?" she asked. "I think the only person I'd like to keep away is Chrissy, otherwise your friends are welcome."
"Oh yeah?" Kyle beamed, although he was sure she didn't mean it the way it came out. Didn't mean he would have that comment for future fantasies, however. "I'm pretty sure Gabe'll be coming. And Isaac and some others." Kavin wouldn't be up for it, Kyle was fairly sure of that. "I don't know, I'll check around with some of my buddies. Who else is suppose to be there?"
"If you'd like," she said, biting her lip. He really was cute when he smiled like that. "Breezy, Nate, and I are the ones who put it all together. I've talked to Charlotte, who was going to bring some friends, and I plan to ask Peyton. Lily's definitely on the list, along with a few other girls from the dance team. I don't think they'd take issue with you inviting a few of your friends to keep them warm," she grinned.
Ah, if Charlotte was going to be there, then Kavin definitely shouldn't be. Score one for detox. Kyle nodded, thinking in his head on who he'd ask. "I've got a couple guys in mind who I'm sure would be down. Need me to bring anything else? How're you planning on getting there?" He couldn't really drive. If she was bumming a ride with someone, Kyle was sure he'd tag along.
Alexis pursed her lips together, thinking on that. She didn't have a car, and neither did Kyle. That... could be a problem, especially if she was to be carrying chairs and blankets. "I... haven't figured that out yet. I'm gonna need a way to gather the firewood and stuff. Maybe my dad will let me take his car, or maybe Nate has a car. Any ideas?"
"Nate has a car," Kyle told her. That much he knew. "I ran into it with my bike, actually. And if you guys set this up together, I'm sure he'd be open to give a ride." Of course that might also be an issue, since Kyle tended to not do well in cars with other people. Or by himself. He licked his lips, wondering if there was another way to get there. Maybe he could meet her there - have his uncle drive him.
"I'll ask him about it. Hopefully he won't mind," Alexis smiled. "Maybe we can get a ride there, then walk home or something. It's really the firewood that'll be a burden. Otherwise, it's just blankets, unless you want a lawn chair or something. Hm. Oh, you like smores, right? Anything else?" she asked, her mind running with all the things they might need to prepare.
"I do like smores," he said with a nod. "Let's see what we can do about driving, and go from there. But we'll figure something out. I think blankets and stuff are important if it gets chilly. I'm good with sitting on the ground, I don't necessarily need a chair. Maybe just small things to eat and drinks or something."
"I can handle the food if you'll handle the drinks," she said, "I think everyone's gonna bring what they need, so they only thing I'm gonna mass supply is stuff for smores. And handling the fire, of course." As people began to shuffle into class, Alexis opened her book and took out her homework, shooting a glance towards the front to make sure the teacher wasn't there yet. "Get your homework done?" she inquired.
"I'll see what I can do..." Kyle paused as a look of amused realization crossed his face. "Hold up, I was being recruited to start the fire, now I'm in charge of drinks." He chuckled and reached into his bag to pull out his chemistry book and notebook. He opened up to the page with his name on it. The rest was blank. "I sorta forgot about it, to be honest." Which meant lectures from his tutor and then his parents once they got the report. "Long night."
"Just drinks for us," Alexis grinned. "It's not like I'm asking you to supply the entire party. And I wouldn't ask you to start the fire, except I don't wanna screw it up. It wouldn't be much of a bonfire if I did it wrong and it went out in ten minutes." She could totally see that happening, actually. It would be to everyone's benefit if a boy assisted in the process. "Wanna copy?" she asked, laying her homework next to his. "I don't know if you can get the whole thing done, but you can try."
"Oh! Well yeah, I can get drinks for us then," Kyle said with a nod. He didn't know if she just meant soda, or like, beer, but he'd bring both just in case. He pulled her homework to him and began to copy the answers, though not word for word. He was pretty skilled on the art of cheating. "Yeah, thanks. Hard to keep up with stuff with hockey and everything else sometimes."
"Sometime you'll have to fill me in on the everything else," she said, eyes on the door as he copied her homework. She really didn't want them to get caught. Besides the trouble they'd get in, she didn't want to risk being moved across the room. She liked sitting by him; it was a good chance to keep up with him, no matter how busy they might be otherwise.
He offered her a small smile before he went back to the work. Maybe someday he would. But he didn't know her well enough yet to trust her with the stuff he'd been trusted with. Somehow he didn't think informing her of his own problems, his friend's addiction issues, among other things, would be the best way to keep her interested. For now he was going to just enjoy being around someone who actually seemed to have her shit together. Everything else, if it worked out, could come later.
