Stop. Talking.

Who: Kyle and Skye
Where: MSHS
When: Just before 1st period

Skye was walking through the hallways, lazily, not in any particular rush because she had plenty of time to get to class. At least, she was pretty sure she did. She forgot her watch this morning. Anyway, she was being lazily about it and greeting people here or there if they wanted to say hi or whatever, and eventually she came upon Kyle. The Kyle she met at Kavin's party. Really, she was surprised she hadn't run into him earlier, but that's what you got when you weren't paying attention. "Hey, good morning."

Kyle turned around at the voice and it took a second before he recognized her as the girl from Kavin's party. Skye. The girl Gabe had said he'd talked to for a bit at the masquerade party. It had him warming to her quicker than if it had been a nameless nobody. "Hey! How's it going?"

"Pretty good! I want to wish you the best with the first hockey game of the season tonight." Skye grinned brightly. "It'll be a lot of fun to watch. How've you been this past... er." Skye thought for a moment. "Well, this entire week?"

"Thanks!" Pleased that she'd remembered, and thought enough to wish him good luck, Kyle smiled at her. "I'm glad that you're coming to watch it go down. Should be a good game, I think. I've been pretty good, actually. How about yourself? Did you enjoy the masquerade party?"

"I had a good time, yes, thank you. Except for the whole 'sticking my foot so far down my throat I could've choked on it' bit with Gabe, but he was really nice about the entire thing." Skye sighed. She'd 'forgot' to add that bit in a letter she wrote to her family about the past couple of weeks. They didn't need to know it. "And I got an extra dance out of it, so it may or may not have been worth it, I'll let you know."

"Oh yeah? How was it that you stuck your foot in your mouth with Gabe?" Kyle grinned, not wanting to make fun of her for it. But he was curious as to what she said that she thought was so bad. Or embarrassing. "Obviously it wasn't too bad if you got yourself an extra dance with the guy."

"Ugh. He said I was cute or something and really? I don't think I am. There are plenty of girls in this school much cuter or hotter or whatever then me. Maybe it was the outfit, I don't know. Anyway, I said so, and I said it so badly it made it sounded like I was flat out calling him a liar and then I kept talking." She sighed, but good-naturedly. Wasn't like she could change it now. "Lesson learned: quiet acceptance of compliments and silence are both virtues."

Kyle cocked his eyebrow as she spoke, trying to picture Gabe in that sort of situation. His lips twitched into an amused smile and he waited until she was done before he adjusted his bag on his shoulder. "Oh, I don't know if quiet acceptance and silence are virtues. I'd say next time a guy tells you you're cute, return the compliment," he said. "Even if there're hotter girls than you, he's still noticing you, right? Take advantage of it."

"Next time he wears a school girl outfit, I will definitely compliment him on it. I will go out of my way to do so." Skye promised, trying and failing to keep a grin from bubbling up to the surface. She was blushing a little too. "Not that he isn't cute without the outfit, but um, he probably... shouldn't... wear one." Stop. Talking. Just stop. Skye started to blush a little deeper, and she pinched the bridge of her nose with a pained look. "I'm working on that talking thing, I swear."

Both eyebrows lifted this time as Skye went on and he bit on the inside of his cheek to keep from grinning at her. Gabe must have had an interesting discussion with this one. "Nah, you're fine. I ah, get what you're saying. Gabe, cute. Gotcha." He winked at Skye. "I'll put in a good word for you next time I see him."

"I'm terrified to ask if it'd be for my benefit or purely your own amusement." Skye said dryly. "But thank you, I appreciate it." She glanced around at people wandering to their classes. "I need to get going, but yes. Best wishes on the game, I will definitely come to watch."

"Maybe a bit of both," Kyle said with a laugh. "See ya, Skye. Thanks for the well wishes. I'll see you there, okay?" He lifted a hand in goodbye and started off toward class.
