Thom wondered whether he should be moving down to the basement again - he seemed to spend the majority of his time down here, after all. And added to that, the shadow he'd woken up to this morning, and the ones that had followed him round school all day. He felt safer down here, so down in his basement was where he was.

He looked for Kaysen at school, but not found her - he'd been continually distracted by the shadows in the crowds anyhow and trying not to look like he was off his rocker to all the other students. And anyway, if there was anything wrong, surely Isaac would have called him? hell, possibly after the other day Kaysen would have called him.

If was a little before his usual time to text her, but he'd had the message ready for a half hour already and he thought fuck it, pressing send. It was short, simple. How you doing today? Thom
