Waiting on Casper

Who: Kyle and Kitty
When: Late morning
Where: Cemetery

This morning Kyle was somewhere he rarely, if ever, visited. The library. He figured he could have probably gotten online at home, but he found himself wanting to look through old newspapers from Marquette, and they didn't have everything archived online so... library it was. He sat at a table with the last few months worth of newspapers, looking through the pages and looking for anything that could be construed as weird. There were articles on the animal attacks - including Chrissy's obituary - and how practically everyone in the hospital who had been bitten had died for one reason or another. Only Gabe hadn't died, had he? Everything else had some kind of explanation... burglaries, gangs on drugs, hallucinations from contaminated water. More shit like that... nothing that mentioned the supernatural, which didn't surprise him. How many newspapers other than the Weekly World News would have the guys to print something so rubbish?

Still, the last few days had plenty of news on the ghosts with a couple grainy photos. Kyle soaked in the information, still unable to fully believe despite it being right there in front of him from a 'respectable' source. He was really suppose to believe this? And believe Gabe was a werewolf? Seriously??

"Fuck," Kyle muttered, finally giving up after about an hour or so when his brain began to wander away from him. He was restless now and found once he couldn't sit still, it was time to stop. He cleaned up his mess and grabbed his jacket to pull on. He was grumbling to himself as he zipped it up and headed for the exit. He didn't know what to think, or believe. Logic told him that werewolves didn't exist. That whatever killed those people had been rabid dogs, or wolves. People who had been bitten died because the hospital wasn't well equipped to deal with that many sick people at once. Gabe had been lucky, that's all. Now he had seen too many movies, or got caught up in the paranoia around town and thought he was going to turn into some half man, half beast at the next full moon. Could he really believe he was 'ghost repellent'? It seemed so damn ridiculous... how could he just make them disappear? It didn't make any sense!

Walking outside, Kyle glanced around, wanting to see a ghost floating by only... nope. No ghosts. Shocker. Sighing, Kyle walked down the library steps before heading off in a completely different direction. He found himself at the cemetery, walking through the headstones before he simply stopped. Ghosts and cemeteries went together, didn't they? If he was going to see what everyone else was seeing, then he'd probably definitely see one there. He shoved his hand into his pockets and leaned back against one of the headstones. "Okay Casper," he shouted, his voice the only thing breaking the creepy silence. "I'm waiting!" Prove to me my friends aren't all crazy. Or that I'm not.
