By the way, I got you a date.

Who: Chrissy & Skye
When: Early evening, before the game
Where: Chrissy's house

Chrissy was sifting through her closet trying to find something that would look decent on the other girls body. Finally she emerged from the walk-in with a light green sweater and a pair of black jeans. "Here." she said. "Try these on and see if they fit okay." she said. She hoped it'd look okay on her. She was planning on introducing Skye to Travis today. She'd coaxed the football player into taking Skye to the dance the following night, but had yet to let Skye in on that little detail.

They'd been too busy shopping that day for her to really get a chance to mention it. She was just glad that the dress was bought and she didn't have to worry about it any longer. She wouldn't wear the dress they'd finally settled on for Skye, but at least the girl would look like she was going to a dance and not to a cow milking.

It wasn't as if there was anyone else around, so Skye didn't bother going to another room to change. She just turned her back and pulled off the sweater she'd previously tried on, to try on the light green one. It was actually a much better fit, even in Skye's (admittedly limited towards fashion) opinion, and she turned back to get confirmation from Chrissy. "This one must be looser on you, since it fits me better." She liked the collar better, too. "But I don't know - is this gonna be warm enough? It gets pretty chilly at night." She then took the jeans and tried those on, too, while waiting for Chrissy's answer.

Chrissy smiled. The shirt did fit her nicely. "That sweater works." she said. "And as for cold, you can wear a jacket over it, no big deal. I've got like a billion, doesn't matter which one you wanna wear." she told her. "So when we get there, remind me to find Travis and introduce you two. It's better that you at least get acquainted before the game stars and stuff, he'll be on the field during so you won't get much chatting in if we don't get there early."

Chrissy was somewhat longer-legged than Skye, so the jeans were somewhat longer-legged than Skye needed. But nothing that looked bad. "I have no idea who Travis is." It was probably one of the boys that flitted around Chrissy like hummingbirds around a feeder; Skye'd lost track of those yesterday easily enough. "I'm assuming one of the ones that are taller than me?" She grinned, since that was very easily accomplished and described the majority of the school. And she picked up her water bottle and took a sip.

"Travis is your date for homecoming." Chrissy said simply, moving into her closet to grab her cheer uniform. Returning she pulled her sweater up over her head and tossed it into the hamper by the closet, pulling on the long-sleeved cheer shirt and pulling her long curls back as she walked over to the vanity in the corner and plopped down. She grabbed her brush and pulled her hair back into a tight pony tail. A single curl hanging across her face, framing it and the rest of her curls falling against the back of the shirt.

Skye choked on the water she tried to swallow while making a protesting sound at the same time. It took a few seconds to sort itself, and Skye gave Chrissy a look that indicated that this equated to being randomly strangled in the middle of the street. "What date? When did I get a date?!"

Chrissy rolled her eyes as she began to apply her foundation. "Since today when I realized that you can't just go to homecoming alone. Do you want to be a wallflower all night?" she questioned. "Don't worry, Travis is hot. Besides, he owes me a favor and he seems to be pretty eager to go with you." she said as she blended the liquid into her already flawless complexion and reached for her eyeliner. "Don't sound so freaked out by it, he's just a boy."

Skye hissed at her. "I've never been on a... a... date before!" Skye was possibly panicking over this far more than she should have been, but it seemed like the most appropriate thing to do under the circumstances. Oh, she wasn't mad. She was far too easy going for that. But the whole dating thing seemed to warrant panic.

"Well, you'll just have to deal." she said with a shrug, finishing the eyeliner and grabbing the eyeshadow, making sure to apply just the right amount of her school colors to her eyelids. "It's not like he's going to bite you or anything. It'll do wonders for your self image, believe me. Just wait til you see how the other girls eye you when you walk into the dance with him." She smirked a bit at that and put on her mascara, her eyes even brighter with her make-up perfectly applied. She moved to get up then, kicking off her shoes and unzipping the jeans she had on.

Maybe I should become some sort of hermit. Or whatever the female version is that doesn't have to deal with this dating socializing junk. But without a million cats. Skye pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment, getting out of Chrissy's way. A couple of deep breaths helped calm her down, too. Just had to pretend it was just her meeting yet another new person, and just extending that introduction out for... multiple hours. Right. "Okay. Okay, I can do that. The... the theory is easy enough. Okay."

"Don't stress so much. You had to start somewhere, right? How old are you exactly that you've never been out on a single date? You're not ugly and your personality doesn't seem to be that obnoxious or anything." she said as she slipped out of the pants and into her matching cheer skirt. "I mean didn't Canada have boys?" she asked. She sat on the edge of the bed and found her socks and shoes, pulling those on as she glanced up at the other girl.

"Chrissy, I've never gone to school before. The nearest town - which was way more like a hamlet or something - had no one my age in it. Not boys, anyway. There was like, one other girl that I saw every couple months maybe. There was no one to go out on a date with, unless you count my brothers? And honestly, as much as I love perpetuating stereotypes 'bout us redneck gals... that wasn't going to happen. Ever." Skye rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. This date idea was unsettling at best.

"So you've never once even hung out with a guy besides your brothers?" she asked as she stood up and made her way to the full length mirror on her closet door. "So you've like never done anything have you?" she questioned, knowing the girl would know exactly what she was talking about.

Skye gave her a wry look. "Last time I held hands with someone, it was my dad and it was because I needed help getting into a tractor 'cause I was a little too short. What does that tell you?"

Chrissy sighed and shook her head. "Well you'll be getting hopefully a goodnight kiss at least." she said with a light airy giggle. "You really are new to this whole thing aren't you?" she questioned, satisfied with her appearance as she walked over to grab her hoop earrings off the dresser and put them in. "You'll be fine. Don't worry so damn much. Calm yourself, country girl." she said. "You ready to go?"

Skye distracted herself by considering getting her ears pierced. "Yeah, I guess so. Can I borrow a jacket just in case?"

She nodded and waved a hand in the direction of her closet. "Just grab whatever you want." she said, pulling on her cheer jacket and grabbing her keys and purse from the dresser. "Do promise me that you're not gonna like faint when you meet him though." she said with a teasing grin.

Straightening her back, Skye raised an eyebrow and lifted her chin. "I've faced off really pissed off momma cows - usually lost, but still. I've faced them off. A random football player isn't going to make me faint." Skye picked out a jacket and put it on, pulling her hair out from under the collar. Then she paused. "I make no promises about being able to talk coherently."

Chrissy chuckled and shrugged. "Well, I'm sure he'll talk you to death anyways, so you should be okay." she said, pulling the door open and heading out into the hallway towards the stairs. "You'll get the hang of it. Just wait, you'll see."

"Okay." Skye sighed. "I'm trusting you, here." And she followed Chrissy along.
