Who: Lottie
Where: Tourville Apartments; Lottie’s Place
When: Late Afternoon

At this point in time Lottie was in her element, or at least that was how Boss Lady put it. Each day that Halloween drew closer Lottie’s apartment became crazier than the day before, as did her clothes. Gone was the bohemian clothing she wore during the day and to the shop. With Boss Ladies okay she had begun dressing full out Goth to fit the season, something she enjoyed greatly. Today was no exception. Since she did not have to work it was more comfy and consisted of baggy black jeans with all sorts of chains crisscrossing and acting as a warning when she moved; her shirt black and displayed Lacuna Coil’s latest CD Release, Comalies, on the front. Since she was apartment bound today she did not wear her well worn combat boots but instead wore black socks with miniature skulls on them.

At the moment she was twirling a section of hair that was streaked pumpkin orange around a finger and studying her living room window. ‘Thriller’ was playing in the background as she contemplated the window arrangement. She had the window outlined in a string of pumpkin lights with window cling bats on the glass and a lone Grim Reaper among the bat chaos. In her hand (the one not twirling her hair) she had a werewolf and a moon, both of which she had no idea where to place. She was so intent on where to put those clings that when the phone rang she jumped as if someone had purposely scared the crap out of her.

With a sheepish air she picked the receiver of her elegant and antique phone up and put it to her ear. “Lottie’s Layer.” She said, her normal greeting. “Oh, Boss Lady! Yes, that is Thriller playing… No, I have no idea how to do that dance.” She picked up the base of the phone and moved back to her window.

“Oh, I’m just trying to figure out where to put the moon and the werewolf… Hell no! It is only a cling-on! Why would you think I had a werewolf in my apartment? You think I am crazy?” She rolled her eyes at her bosses reply to that one. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll close tonight. I got nothing better to do. What time do you want me there? Ok, six, got it. See ya.”

She put the receiver on the base and set it aside. After a moment she finally decided to put the moon in the middle at the top of the window and the werewolf opposite of the Grim Reaper. “There,” she said as she stood back to take it in. “Now time to get ready for work.”
