"Thom, this is John Christiensen, Leija's father. I am calling to inform you that she -- we -- are staying at Marquette General for the time being. She's very ill and running a high fever. The doctors say it must be infection from her injuries, and they're seeing a lot of it, but they want to keep her until the fever drops. ... in her more lucid moments, she's asked after you, so I thought it best to call.
