You want it, you got it.
Who: Alexis and Harper
Where: Over the phone
When: Early Evening
Harper had taken a bit of time to review Alexis' application and, despite her lack of experience, she did seem to be outgoing, bright, and she wanted the job-- which was something. So, Harper was prepared to give it to her. She didn't feel she needed to do a real interview, probably an idea spurned by the fact that she wanted a night off, or the cloudy state her head had been in all night after... the kiss. But, she couldn't think of that right now; first she needed to call Alexis, see if she was still interested, then she could worry about... the kiss.
Picking up the phone Harper dialed the number on the application, hoping she was aiming far enough after school that Alexis would be free to answer.
Alexis was at home, working on homework. She wasn't expecting any calls; there weren't that many people who even had her number in the first place. When her phone rang, she set down her history book and picked up the phone, the number unfamiliar. "Hello?" she said, never wanting to give anything away until she knew who she was talking to. It was a technique her father had taught her, even if it shouldn't have any relevance in regards to her personal cell phone.
"Hello, I'm calling for Alexis Byrd," Harpers voice came over the receiver, sounding pretty professional. She wasn't quite sure if the girl had given her cell or her home phone number, so it was always better to play safe than sorry.
"This is she," Alexis said, slightly annoyed that the caller hadn't given her a name. If she was a little more paranoid, she'd have asked rather than answered, but she didn't really think that was necessary.
"Oh good. This is Harper from Nevermore. I'm calling about the application you put in." She said, relieved she didn't have to wait for the phone to be passed off.
"Yes?" Alexis asked, hoping it would be positive news. While she'd never shown interest in a job before, she'd never come across a place like Nevermore. A supernatural bookstore was a place she could enjoy working, and would even have plenty to occupy her when she was bored.
"Well.." Harper said. "If you still want it, it's yours." She hoped the girl would still be interested and take it, with there being no other person at the store she was running the risk of acutally not liking her job anymore and she really didn't want that to happen.
"Great!" Alexis said, thrilled that someone else hadn't nabbed the position before she had. "When do you want me to start? I can come in Saturday. Is that too soon? I have school, so I won't be able to work mornings, but weekends will work, so long as I don't have to work all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Is that okay?" she asked, stopping as she realized she was rambling.
Harper chuckled a little. "As soon as you'd like. Saturday would be fine, not too soon at all." Great in fact. "And I don't mind having to keep a school schedule in mind. Our last employee was in school as well." She informed the girl. "What time would you be able to start?"
"Will late afternoon work?" Alexis asked. By then everyone would be getting ready for homecoming. Since she had nothing else going on, it seemed like a good time to start.
"That would be perfect." Harper replied. "Make sure you wear something nice. There's no dress code -per-se- but you want to look presentable."
"Okay, great," Alexis smiled, now thinking through her wardrobe and what would be appropriate. This probably meant she'd be wearing more than a t-shirt and jeans. "I'll see you at, say, four o'clock then?"
Harper nodded to herself as she made a note. "That sounds great! I'll see you then."
