NPCs

Npcs are Non Player Characters. It's a big place, and we need some random citizens to be played out, and sometimes? You just have an idea for someone but they don't warrant a full-time character, or you're just playing them to die horribly, or to fill in gaps. Whatever the reason way, that's what the npc journal is for!

How to I create an NPC?
You write up a profile for them, which is just a general little blurb of a bio. Name, where they work, what they do, that sort of stuff. Pb and who's allowed to play them. (Some people have an idea, but don't mind if other people play them as well) Post this up in the ooc for approval by a mod. After approval, stick up the bio you have for your npc in the journal itself in a post.

No. Sorry, but for Npcs we would prefer that you did not use popular pbs. It takes away from the pool of people you can get a lot of pics for for player characters. So please try to find people you can get an icon or two for, but not someone who might be in demand.

Is there a limit to how many npcs I can have?

Try not to have too many. Take ones that you know you'll play, and please don't throw up ideas continually that never see scene-time. But we fully encourage you to take them up and give the game more life.

Is there anything else I should know?
The thing about NPCs is that sometimes they make great full characters. We understand that, occasionally, what starts out as an NPC grows to be something more. We've been there as well! If you want to upgrade an NPC to full character status, you can - just app them in the usual way.

However, we would also encourage people to allow their NPCs to be adopted. That is, we would like most, if not all, NPCs in the NPC journal to be adoptable by other community players if they so wish. What you may only have an inkling for, or only want a snapshot of, another player may have a flash of inspiration about.

This is not compulsory. However, if you are willing for your NPC to be adopted, please state so in the userinfo write up (at the end of their write up, simply put [adoptable].

But, if I can't have a big name PB for an NPC, won't that screw over anyone who may want to adopt them in future?

Yeah, we thought about that one too. If you are opening your NPC up for adoption, we will allow a more popular PB for them. However, if this is the case, the NPC must also be listed and stay listed in the 'Wanted in game' section so that it is clear that they are only an NPC until someone takes them up.

So, what is the password for the NPC journal?
Because we cannot friends lock individual posts at the moment, we're not going to tell you. If you need the password, please ask a mod and we'll hand it over - for now, we'll have to rely on word of mouth!
