Character Name
Charles Theodore Kennedy (aka Tad)
Age
17.25 (yes that 1/4 of a year counts)
Sex
Male
Appearance

Tad is a slim kid, the kind who eats all the time but seems to stay just tiny. He clocks in at about 5’11.75” (yes, the 3/4” counts), but tends to slouch. His hair is an unruly mop of brown curls that tend to stick up on whatever side he slept on the night before. There’s no use in controlling his mane because that just makes it look worse. He’s usually dressed in a loose tshirt and hoodie of some sort, jeans and his trusty chuck taylors (black, red or green depending on his mood). His insulin pump is also always on hand, tucked into his jeans pocket or clipped on his waist band. It looks like a little blue pager.

Overall though Tad looks like the kind of kid bullies want to shove into lockers. It’s not working out so great for him. It’s not uncommon for him to have some bruise under his eye or a split lip from getting the crap kicked out of him. It almost always matched with a smile though.

Special Abilities

Unbeliveably good at video games. Like the kind of kid who can beat a game in less than half the time it would normally take to beat it. When it comes to online first person shooter games like Halo he's a champ, and there are few out there who can beat him. (Which of course manages to hinder him from making even online friends.)

Supernatural Affinity (Species/Group)
Human (second generation hunter, but he doesn't know it)
Personality

Tad is a nice kid. He’s easy going, chill, loves good music, indie flicks and a good video game. He’s friendly and open minded about different types of people. He’s got an active imagination, always coming up with crazy ideas and stories. Armed with sarcasm like it’s a second language and a wicked, dry sense of humor, he’s always willing to entertain.

Too bad no one knows this. As friendly as he may be, he’s sort of shy and thus has spent the past 17 years of his life being overlooked. Or having his head shoved into toilets. Even with being tortured by every bully he’s ever met plus every other short hand life has dealt him, he’s managed to maintain a chipper personality and positive outlook on life. He’s always felt like there’s some other reason for him being here and knows one day it will come to fruition.

As result of having diabetes he’s very organized and controlled. He’s careful about what he eats, but not annoying about it. In addition he’s very observant. Probably too observant.

History

Tad has lived in Marquette since he was five. Yea you didn’t notice did you? It’s ok most people don’t.

Both of Tad’s parents were hunters and had always intended to keep their son with them while they hunted and traveled around the US. On his fifth birthday, there was a lot of cake and ice cream and celebrating and suddenly Tad got really sick. Rushed to the hospital in a near catatonic state, it was discovered Tad had Type 1 diabetes and would need to be put on an insulin regimen immediately. Realizing that a life on the road wasn’t ideal for a kid who needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle Tad’s parents made the decision to send him to live with his grandmother in Marquette. For the next five years they would stop in when they were nearby and did their best to stay in touch with their son. On his 10th birthday they were rushing to get to Marquette in time to celebrate with him, as a surprise, and lost control of the car. His father was killed instantly and his mother survived long enough to make a phone call to her son from the hospital and then succumbed to the extent of her injuries.

In order to protect him, Tad’s name was changed to a different surname (so yea, not one of those Kennedys) and he was never told what profession his parents maintained, having been given a story about them being traveling merchants. He had hated that they weren’t around but understood even from a young age, that his illness put a wrench in things.

After of his parents’ death Tad went through a quiet phase which is typical for most kids who lose their parents. Only problem was that his quiet period was right when most children would really start forming substantial friendships. As a result, by the time Tad hit middle school he had no friends. Even though he was friendly he was shy and making new friends became something of a challenge. Not to mention no one wants to be friends with the kid who was getting shoved in lockers or having his head dunked in toilets.

Concerned for his well being, his grandmother sent him to multiple psychologists outside of Marquette to make sure he wasn’t suffering from some sort of mental issues that kept him from making friends. Every doctor came back with the same results: Tad was a friendly kid, he had a positive outlook, his diabetes was under control, and he seemed happy. Besides a few black eyes, his grades were in check and there wasn’t much the world could do for him.

Now that he’s approaching the end of his last year in high school Tad is determined to make a difference. For the longest time he’s been overlooked but he’s knows there’s something better out there for him. He knows that he comes from a bloodline of strong people (even if he doesn’t know he’s a second generation hunter). For now he might be blending into the background, but all of that is about the change…

Weaknesses

Diabetes: Having diabetes is probably his biggest crutch. Although Tad has the disease as under control as it can get, he still has to monitor what he eats, how much of it he eats, and whatever his blood sugar is at any given time. Plus that insulin pump that’s attached to his hip makes him look like a total nerd if you don’t know what it’s for. Although at this point it’s second nature to deal with, it usually sets up boundaries, especially with other people.

Shy: Tad’s just shy enough that he doesn’t approach people. He wishes he wasn’t like this, but it’s not like he’s going to start a conversation with someone who doesn’t know him, since most of the people he talks to regularly like to beat him up.

Easily distracted: It’s never been diagnosed, because it hasn’t affected his school work yet, but for all intensive purposes Tad’s got something like ADD. He’s learned to overcome it when it comes to not failing out of school, but even if he’s talking to someone, he’s still thinking about something else, or tends to drift off in conversations. Plus, he’s very, very observant, which is just even more distracting. If he was a hunter like his parents, it could be considered diligent aloofness but instead it just comes across as annoying.

Hidden History: Given that his history has been hidden from him, Tad is one step away from danger. His parents were good hunters in their time and definitely didn’t make any friends with the ugly things out there. All one of the ugly things, or friends of the ugly things has to do is figure out the name change that Tad’s parents gave him and he’s a target. This is compounded by the fact that he has no idea about any of it and with no training on how to defend himself (obviously, he’s getting beat up once every other week) he’s a sitting duck.

Weak: Tad gets beat up or pushed around on a regular basis. He probably could defend himself, because he’s not a complete wuss, but no one’s bothered to teach him how to stand up for himself, so he continues to remain a target.

Friendless: There is not one person (outside of his grandmother) that Tad can claim is his friend. It lends to a lonely lifestyle.

Strengths

Tad comes from an awesome duo of hunters, even if he doesn’t know it. He’s already shown that he’s inherited skills he’d need to be a good hunter he just hasn’t been taught how to use them.

Hope: Contrary to what many would think, Tad’s undying sense of hope that there is something more than being the target for after-school scrapes is what keeps him going. No matter how many times he’s had his head shoved in a toilet only to be ignored by even the school faculty, he hasn’t given up hope there is more to his life than this. It’s a powerful thing.

Sense of humor: Even when getting his skull bashed in, he usually has a great sense of humor about everything (this doesn’t help him in those situations, as usually pisses off the person hitting him more and then they hit harder). It does help him maintain his positive outlook on things and if he could make friends would be a great way to keep them around.

Observant: Tad has a very keen eye, which he hasn't been able to properly harness yet unless he's playing video games.
